i don’t think people will look at it like that. his normals are slow.
i see it like this: v-trigger is a guaranteed amount of damage on the opponent. it doesn’t give him some close range priority benefit. people who can beat him close are going to take a little damage (like focus in sf4) in exchange for big reward.
His normals may be slow (are they really that slow? hard to tell without data), but they are long in a game where half the cast has El Fuerte sized normals. That’s a pretty big deal.
If you’re already at a health deficit you’re definitely going to be running away to stall off the poison as long as you can. Even if you’re in the health lead and you go in all it takes is a good read for him to space you out and then you have to start worrying. Plus he does have an offensive game. He definitely doesn’t look like he is meant to purely sit back and zone so him getting aggressive will make your health go away quicker during V Trigger.
I like that he doesn’t look too slow. I’m OK with below average walk speed but I can’t play a character like Makoto where I feel like walking is not an option at all.
He looks annoying to play against. Like blanka level.
Can’t block his v-skill.
V-trigger = you get poisoned if you go near him.
Ex dash to escape pressure.
Impossible to get a perfect on him. There is no way
To get in on him we will have to get poisoned by vskill because there is no hit stun. The one that. Auses hit stun is the poison that controls the air.
At the beginning of the video, the FANG player links a c.MP after a CH c.MK. If the first hit of a double-hitting normal is a counter hit, the second hit doesn’t have extended hitstun right? So c.MK > c.MP xx Sleeve Special might just be a natural combo. That’s such a strong and easy hit-confirm from a (presumably) low starter.
Also the angle on that double-hitting j.MK (?) is just oppressive, damn. The fact that it hits twice means you’ll be able to do it super early as you descend too. FANG looks like he’ll have a lot of strong options on offense and defense, I can’t wait to get my hands on him.
His j.mk hit as a fuzzy guard. Lots of characters have those but they require you commiting to a jump forward or neutral jump and his can be done on a back jump. Fits an annoying character.
