At the same time, it doesn’t really zone in a traditional way due to lack of hit stun. It’s probably best to just bulldog through sometimes and bop him.
i think the reason we haven’t seen him yet is probably because they are still balancing him out. his normal fireball does poison damage too so maybe they thought that was too strong.
Meanwhile I’m still kinda boggled by the fact Capcom hasn’t given FANG into the hands of regular players via a beta test and instead keeps him for internal crew demos
I don’t love him, but after a boss as ridiculously boring as Seth it’s refreshing to have something that puzzles me in terms of design. I hate Seth, so much. He was supposed to be Urien. Then they ran out of time, gave him a bunch of the other fighters’ moves, and threw a sphere in his stomach so nobody would notice. I mean, a huge, tall, naked guy with a godlike physique, a two hit uppercut, identical roundhouse kick, and copy and pasted walk cycle? He was Urien, but Capcom ran out of time and filled in everything that wasn’t Urien yet with the other fighters. After that atrocity, Fang is exactly the character we needed, with a unique design that’s weird in the good way.
Seth was never meant to be anyone other than Seth. He was inspired by and modeled after numerous Shadaloo Cyborg initiatives from the past like the SF2 Monitor Cyborg or the SFA:TM Rosanov. Seth even looks similar to them, and it was always his intent to utilize a fighting data recorder (The tanden engine) to mimic fighters. It goes hand in hand with his backstory where he is just a copy of a copy and his own personal struggle to be an individual in spite of the tragedy of his life. Conceptually, Seth was actually one of the better SF4 designs and Capcom invested a lot in fleshing out his backstory and developing his character/personality.
I hate to break it to you also, but FANG isn’t the boss of the game either.
I feel stupid now, but I see your point. I just would’ve preferred Urien, I think you have some great evidence in defense of Seth, but I personally find him really bland.
Deviljin and Max posting in the same thread makes my brain hurt from the AV overlap.
FANG is about as much of a final boss as Vega is. If we do go back to character-specific bosses like Alpha 2, FANG will probably be Rashid’s boss, but little beyond that.
