F.A.N.G. General Thread: Nothing up the Sleeve

Wait a sec, my google translate is poorly interpreting the text, but it seems like F.A.N.G is 212 cm tall, but he stretched himself out an extra 10 cm just so he could be 222 cm. That’s… completely insane lol.

he loves the number 2 i guess

It’s like you’ve never played Pokemon.

I think Daemos just wasn’t weeaboo enough to know that purple = dark/evil in Japan.

I’m sure there’s some story explanation for why he looks so strange. FANG isn’t totally out of place in a game with eclectic or heavily stereotyped looking characters any way. He’s just pushed a bit more radically visually than others for specific reasons that I think will come up.

I’ve watched my fair bit of anime so I actually knew that.

I just didn’t like keeping with that aesthetic when it came to a new mechanic in SF5. I just want more colors. More colors for everybody!

F.A.N.G exhibition with Combofiend

His vskill projectile is reeeeally slow.

He looks frustrating to fight against. Good

Nice to see that the poison does permanent damage. I think it works even on block.

What I want to know is, is there any way to speed up the poison? Can it stack? How long does the poison last?

His attacks don’t do a ton of damage, probably to balance the poison out.

Poor Dhalsim lol

Zoning is real, saw an EX command dash in there, jump looked very slightly floaty but he had a couple of good looking jump in normals, his cross up actually changes the direction he’s facing so I don’t think he’ll have visually ambiguous jump ins, his V-trigger does not seem to be a big factor in his gameplay.

Anyone notice the ranking system underneath both names?

I’ve analysed the tapes extensively, and it looks like Fang will play like a mix of Gouken, Dhalsim, Vega, Gen, Chun Li, Juri and Necro.

Watching those matches I saw a few things:
[]Poison is slowwwwwwwwwww damage.
[
]Poison doesn’t stack and I never saw it time out, seems to last until he gets hit.
[]The double poison ball attack is blockable and does NOT poison on block.
[
]Definitely a command dash, he did an EX version in one of the later sets.
[]His V-Skill makes for some actual oki setups, which we haven’t really seen so far in SFV.
[
]The poison cloud that we’ve seen placed on the ground only appears to be the EX version of that move. Not 100% sure but I saw him hit the ground with that attack but not leave a poison cloud behind.

Double knee attack seems unsafe on block, or at least Peter made it look unsafe despite using it for pressure a lot of times.
Poison eats up white damage. F.A.N.G’s normals can essentially do chip damage if they’re blocking while poisoned.

It also looked like stun decreased somewhat slower when poisoned.

So watching the set, I’m seeing a few interesting things about FANG:
-Can have all of his projectiles out at once
-AA projectile has a lot of variety in the arc, covers a ton of space
-Normals seem solid
-Poison isn’t quite Yoga Burner effective, but it does the damage for real instead of as white life
-One of his air kicks (MK?) can turn around in midair, making it REALLY good for cross ups
-V-Trigger can keep them poisoned while FANG is being hit by proximity
-Poison continues during throw cinematics
-Punch special nullifies projectiles
-Doesn’t quite seem to be a stance character
-Peter never used the laying stance, V-Reversal, or the link/target combo from the trailer

14:00 in, what is that? It does look like some kind of stance that’s cancelled into his twin strike special thing.

FANG’s walk animations are everything.
