I haven’t really used EX Sting but LP Sting often trades or will just whiff as she lands on the other side. I know it can stuff Burn Kicks but are there decent options in the situation where Sting wont work reliably or I don’t have charge?
check out the latif vs alioune casual matches (linked in the video thread). in that set, burn kicks are mostly a non issue, with the exception of a couple of rounds. might give you an idea on how to sidestep the issue entirely. the only characters that aren’t disallowed online are apparently grapplers and evil ryu so i have zero experience with that match up.
I am really not sure what to do against Yun. I have a lot of Cammy experience so I’m mostly relying on knowledge of normals. st.lk counters both divekick and st.mp (at the same ranges, even), st.hk as standard “stay away”, cr.mk if he’s getting aggressive, but the fact is I don’t know how to get any real damage going. It’s pretty easy for him to finally get in and ruin me. The local best player mains Yun and his reactions are seriously some of the best, so none of the mixups I’ve experimented with have ever worked unless they are seriously plus frames like EX spiral. As soon as he figures out how to interrupt light hands I think I’m back to square one.
you can safe meaty upkicks with max range cr.mk, sting punishes far mp on block so he can’t mixup between doing far mp shoulder > fake palm > nothing as reversal dp will always win.
Fat hitbox means extended combos work on him and he’s vulnerable to crossup divekicks.
The first hit of headstomp… pretty much nothing you can do about it but block or Focus dash out. Psycho Sting is unreliable to anti-air it, and none of her normals that I have experimented with beat it out. if you block you can just get him with an air throw or spiral arrow afterwards though. Or Focus the second hit.
For Devil’s Reverse… it can be tricky, generally if you see Bison jumping in, you’re reaction is to switch to stand block… well doing that loses your charge for Sting… So unless you’re really quick to react, you probably won’t have the time to charge it after noticing he’s going for reverse. What I found out is that if you just go for spiral arrow from that point, you’ll almost always win. It will trade at times and if you start it up too late you’ll get counter hit though. Of course there’s always focus attack. Cr.HP does really well to AA Devil’s Reverse too.
I couldn’t agree more, I haven’t had a lot of poison experience but the two that I had sets with were quite difficult to play against.
Specifically if the poison gets a life lead and lames you out its hard.
I think it’s ideal to stay close to her, real close.
I only had success when they got aggressive and I made a read or when she couldn’t keep me at whip’s length where your normals can beat hers before they even come out.
Also, if the poison continually throws fireballs when you have charge then they aren’t very good(unless you are baiting with a delayed RES but I don’t think anyone is doing that right now), all she has to do is just play the staring game with you
I prefer neutral jump MK myself; it hits at an upwards 45 degree angle and he’s usually above you.
I’m still trying to work out the gameplan for this matchup myself. I think it’s a lot trying to corner push and put yourself in positions where you can take advantage of his weaker anti-air abilities.
yeah keeping claw cornered is kind of difficult between wall jump, ex SHC and EX FBA. I think dp combo is def the way to go on him just because you can pressure after anyways with dash up into buttons, it’s not like he has a reversal you need to check and dp still corner pushes pretty decently
