Excellent players you played online

Well, for one thing, I don’t think he spends that much time playing scrubs in ranked… as you probably know, he has a YouTube channel. What you might not know is that he is partnered (I think that’s the right term?) with YouTube, meaning he gets advertising money… He’s married and he has at least one child, and he also uploads lots of videos of SF4 and SFXT, many of which do not feature him as a competitor - he’s just uploading them so that people can watch high level play. It’s a great service to the community. Not to mention, he isn’t that high on the leaderboards anymore - the guys at the top with like 30,000 games played or whatever spend a lot more time than JR playing against laggy scrubs. Plenty of people (including me, from time to time) are entertained by watching him double perfect scrubs, so he spends an hour here and there playing ranked and uploads the beasting for those who care to watch it. Just my perception of it.

It really isn’t all that surprising that he’s made it consistently to top 8. It’s not like the japs come to Evo in droves. Now if he made it to semi finals or even quarter finals in SBO, THEN I’d be impressed.

Well sure but if you think about it there have been hardly ANY akuma’s that have done very well at EVO except for him. That says something. I figure Pherai is just too cool to care about all that pretentious crap.

To me he just plays like he’s on autopilot because he knows he can get away with it. Not saying he’s bad but I don’t get the appeal of just making videos where you perfect scrubs. If you want to watch combo videos there’s plenty out there. If you want a laugh, watch my Stomp Videos.

I gotta say, Louiscipher, and Artayes are up there, but RandomSelect is the best I’ve played.

I gotta say, Agumon, and Captain Klause are up there, but Agumon is a beast.

It’s cause of that ALex. I got that.

haha maybe I’ll act that way now, but getting 9th at Evo makes you want to make it on stage just that much more

Oh sorry man.
Which year was that if you don’t mind me asking?

09, the 2v2 year. We weren’t strong enough to take down the peoples champs Mike Z and Sanchez

Once again–I’m sorry.

Sincerely,
Sanchez
The People’s Champ

Everyone backs off me when I activate SA3 with Makoto

either they don’t know how the super works or they really respect my parrying skill

the smelly state.

i just meant that the physical distance between you and japan is more likely the culprit than either of your connections :stuck_out_tongue:

add me up xlb4everx I do dirty things to ur moms with ryu. just sayin.

(Xbox Live… Duhhh)

okay so now I am ~ 20-0 with Makoto SA3 in ranked. I don’t have any other character with that good a record. I need to figure out this phenomenon. I figured as soon as they saw me activate SA3 they would be supering me or hitting a lot of buttons, but nope. they hold up back like we’re playing SFxT. One Urien player was pretty smart I thought, he saw me activate then knocked me down and activated Aegis on top of my head.

My expectation going into this is that I was going to have to parry a lot of stuff because the other guy would be like “oh she literally cannot block, I’m gonna hit her in the face.” Instead I end up chasing them across the screen and throwing them a bunch.

dude you are playing online, 90% of those guys more than likely dont know what Mak’s sa3 does, and that she cant block…

yeah that’s what I’m taking from this

honestly that is kind of depressing

Yeah… When you play online… Yeah… People do dumb shit and treat it like it’s SF4 and do the same set-up over and over again… Slightly getting annoyed with the style of play online has developed… It seems there’s an ambiguous play style that EVERYBODY (sans for some good/potentially good people) have adopted. Honestly, I can see why it would turn people off to even wanting to play 3S online…
Also, too much dumb shit happens… I didn’t know SF4 players mashed offline too. Was playing my friend the other day Dud vs. Mak (me). SF4 players don’t know a damn thing about block stun -__-…
I’m annoyed by the amount of Ryu players who will tatsu all over the screen and not expect it to get parried or punished. I’m ashamed at the lack of Mak players. I hate the things people do online that is not rational to do offline at all… Mak> c.lkxxEX Oroshi… I get thrown in between that… WTF? o_0… The irrational non-sensical nature of 3SOE is rather appalling.

Yeah that all sounds about right. I think a lot of it comes from SF4 and the different nature of that game. I’ve played some 4 with a few friends who mainly play that game and I recognize some things people do online in 3s as being native to that game.

Lots of wakeup DPs or mashed out DPs. people just molesting the cr jab button when you get close to them. wakeup buttons all the time. I can’t count the number of times I’ve won entire rounds with Makoto just with cr strong into hayate on their wakeup like 6 times in a row. they refuse to block and they aren’t trying to parry.

I usually just assume when I run into people like that that their main game is SF4. I’m sure there’s a pool of SF4 players somewhere out there laughing at how I think I can walk under jump ins or something.
