Excellent players you played online

(Duke Nukem voice)

Turtling is for pussies.

I’m lazy and turtling makes me have to think more. So fuck you for making me have to work harder than I want to!

Really though: Turtling isnt bad its pretty smart. If you have an opponent who goes crazy all the time it slows them down and shows that youre not going to get hit by random shit. So stop doing it.

Are you talking about in messages after online matches or just generally on forums and stuff? People moan about it because they can’t be bothered to figure out how to deal with it. It’s the internet. These are the same scores of people over the years that tell me that Hugo is “overpowered” after I Gigas them (“circle masher” originates from such an exchange, it’s one of the funniest insults I’ve ever received, GOD BLESS ONLINE).

Turtling doesnt bother, personally I prefer to walk forward over sittin back. Sometimes tho when Im feeling stagnant I will sit back and. Let them come to me and try to capitalize on their wiffs or mistakes if possible. Then there are times I play really good players that dont give me the time to press or sit back lol, dominating me from the start.

Thanks for the response guys. I guess most of my anger stems from rage quitters or people flat out calling me cheap for turtling. Since when is blocking frowned upon? Wake up guess parry is not really legit and really is 50/50 so I block. Heck, I find it pretty funny as I’m not a playing turtle Chun or Yun and just building super. I am playing Q and sometimes running away is his only legit option.

I also love the dichotomy of a tutle/rushdown match-up. It challenges the turtlers defense and punish oppertunities and helps rushdown players look for holes in their pressure game. It also really challenges a the player to become familiar with their normals and to really get creative. Personally I think it can be really exciting to watch when you have two really great players breaking down each others styles. I have always felt that is why two best buds not matter what skill level have great matches because you can see they understand how the other person thinks and reacts to that match-up.

quoted because this statement is so fucking true.

If people are giving you shit because you turtle with Q then they don’t know shit about 3rd Strike.

Thanks for the responses guys. It’s good to see that there are really open minded players out there. It’s no suprise a lot of them play 3S.

I’m not sure if any of you guys have seen these, I made them a couple months ago. They are 3S Sprites in KOFXII sprite style (however I took some liberties to keep the 3S direction intact):

I had Alex going but he was on my USB and it got crushed in my backpack. I was a bit bummed because I spent a bunch of time on him.

Looooool, unlucky dude, I’ve been using Q for as long as I’ve been using Hugo and I’ve NEVER received grief for using Q (even of the ‘you fucking turtler’ kind).

Just as an aside, it’s important to distinguish between “running away” and something else such as holding your preferred place on the stage, or even just defending. As Q cannot be crossed up in the corner, that’s why down-backing with Q in the corner is such a good position for him to hold. That’s not turtling per se, that’s just holding the only vaguely advantageous position in a match that he can.

Good stuff with the HD art, dude. I think you should HD-ify all frames of Oro’s cr.hk though. Just for reference.

Yeah man. The corner for Q is like sanctuary sometimes. I tend to react to the player and see if they are all about cross-ups and cross unders. If I feel that is most of their game I tend to find a corner and parry or block until I get an momentum shift to take advantage of a shift. I like using TM’s tech after an “desperation” SAI to immediately fierce dash punch, meaty close mk xx SAI. I can’t believe how many people wake up and don’t block or if I feel the opponent is going to react I tend just to sit back or use strong dash instead to put myself outta range. Q may suck but he has made me a much better player.

I had seriously thought about it for a gag. But then I thought about the process and how many times and various angles I would have to draw his peen and it got a little gay.

I’m not a big fan of turling and except if the player play it smart and/or is actually any good, i usually end up stop playing him after a few matches, winning or not, cause it’s boring IMO.
That said, nothing wrong with turtle. And if someone mail you ‘fuck you, you and your turtling Q’, he’s not worth your time and would probably mail you ‘fuck you, you and your mashing Q’ if you rush him all day.

i’ve gotten hate mail for parrying too much :frowning:

These are pretty great. I like how you also changed the palette a bit to reflect the “KoFXII look” more, altough coloring Q’s “socks” red is a no-no, dude.

Especially with THOSE shoes

Nice sprites

oro looks sad :*(

;_;

Played Burning 1 Down for the first time in months the other day… strong player. And I just played Sandybags a few games, he kicked my face in for the most part and ran a train on a full lobby for a a few spins before he left. There was a cool moment that somehow went my way in one of our games when I did dash up Demon, point blank, and then after the Demon super flash, his Gigas activated, but then the Demon won. I don’t know if that was random or if the Demon’s invincibility is such that it always beats Gigas point blank, but it was far ouuuuut. On the flip side, Sandybags stunned me either in a single combo or in one combo with a reset - it was a couple of claps and then something else, I was in a dazed panic after the claps… and then he had several disgusting parry into SPD/Gigas to win rounds against other people. Hats off.

sounds like the crouch triple claps into sa3…:coffee:
