Excellent players you played online

in this boards opinion:

is online equally trash for every FG or is it especially so for 3s? I remember Combofiend saying something like “3s online could never have been good because that’s a game you need to be playing right next to each other on”

are there FGs where online play is seemingly more legit?

sf4. much longer to react to everything in that game.

yeah that makes sense

a lot of people say “online is good for learning matchups” for SF4

no one says that about 3s

3s online, GGPO or otherwise, is fine at low and mid levels. However at some point you need to level up your game where hit confirms from single hits is crucial and this is where online fails. The existence of rollbacks completely destroys your ability to hit confirm correctly and prevents you from playing 3s the way it needs to be played.

wow, you either have me confused with someone else or you are just completely lying.
I never sent hate messages or anything of the sort over 3s on xbox. I only shit talk if someone is scared to fight me and thats rare.
so this is like the third lie I caught you in. man, you are pathetic.

I never lost no 20 or so games in player matches to ANYONE on xbox.

you better be able to prove this shit or stfu with your lies.

and what is your xbox name anyway? do not be too scared to tell me.

i don’t play people with super laggy connections either.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEN!!!

3S online is a different game.

I been to Japan many times. A-cho is still going strong :). They have up and coming players, so the competition should be legit if you go to Kyoto. There won’t be any civil war man lmao, because there is just truth and shit talking that is happening. That is part of competition and trying to prove something. I take it as comic relief and some hype for 3s. I hope nobody is taking any of this literally, but then again there are those few. sighs

These replies show love for 3s and cooperation to help improve the skill level for the 3s community. If more people would stfu and stop being so proud, then things could be much better. That is not in our nature of course, so the war will go on lmao. It is online play…casual fun and meeting new people. THE END

I’m definitely the best on GGPO karnovs revenge. Ive beaten everyone with Sean at least once.

Okay Ryan, my question to you: How do you get better at reaction/parrying? I main Alex and because of his problems I never really got good at parrying, especially say a Low Forward at midscreen distance because there’s not much he can do aside from cr.MP. But I’m decent at parrying when I’m jumping or if they’re jumping. Parry on wakeup I only do against Makoto, not so much Ken or Akuma because of their options. I’m starting to get better at red-parrying shit like Yun’s 123 though.

Everything you listed I’ve been doing except for playing people in person which I’ve been doing more recently.

I would say thats a mixture of #2 and #3. Game knowledge will help you know every single characters pokes and what the opponent might do in any situation. In this example, a low forward. In the case of alex, which isnt really a footsie oriented character, youll have to read his low forwards and jump over them into a beefy combo. Alex cant whiff punish well so its not something you should be looking for. gotta look for those whiff moves and jump into them. this is one of the reasons alex is not top tier. he cannot whiff punish anything into super (except ex tackle into sa2 i guess but thats kinda waste unless it kills them).

Parrying in this particular situation is not beneficial to you. if you parry a shoto low forward, you have to be worried about if they are gonna cancel into super/shoryu, and you get nothing out of it. The risk/reward is not in your favor.

for alex to win, he has to knock you down, and once he does he needs to kill you. the knockdowns wont come from parrying low forwards so its best to not even try in that scenario. thats probably why youre having trouble with it. its a lose/lose situation.

also, you should shake the habit of only wake up parrying vs mak, and not vs ken and gouki. sometimes you have to do it, especially alex, where a parry into st mk ex slash could change the momentum and win you the round. dont wake up parry all the time, or even majority of the time, but when youre feeling it you gotta go for it.

this is most important i think. applies to really any of those high risk situations that can turn things around or at least give you a chance if it works. you don’t do it often, but you need to do it often enough to show the other guy you aren’t afraid to.

spacemooncow on UMvC3 PSN

He straight up bodied my ass with his godlike Magneto/Dr.Doom/Whoever he wants to rape with…

His fundementals, spacing, and overall playstyle made me feel like he got top 32 in a major at least. I friend requested him and now i will learn >:D

Yeah, I realized a while ago you can’t really play the footsie game with Alex. But man is it annoying getting in on Chun, Yun, and especially a defensive-as-fuck Ken.

Im good on 3 and 4 and 1, everyone drops combos now and then. but 2 not so much, there is always shit I see that I didn’t know every time I play practically (and Ive been playing 3s since 07). There is just so much stuff to learn. My main problems are just execution and timing (probably due to GGPO lag).

im glad more people understand that you dont have to play footsies. and for a number of characters, you stand to lose more by playing with someone like ken or chun or yang, dudley? etc. a lot of characters i think (but im not sure entirely)

like sometimes you need to just ignore it. i think the toughest situation is then working yourself out to safety, or in without getting tagged by a confirmed low forward (from watching you walk). i get nailed by that kind of low forward all the time by flare. because im not in his face, and im not in a range i can like move safely in and dash up from you know? so he’s just watching for me to want to reposition, and then i eat an sa3.

it’s a very difficult situation to be in as some characters. at least with remy his ex lov and also low short > short lov pushes them far enough that you’re safe from low forward and can do the approach game again.

does alex’s standing forward go over shoto low forward and hit them? remy’s does.

Sick commentary! You should do this more often and not just to prove a point on srk :smoke:
