It’s actually seen somewhat of a revival here in NC. It’s a staple for monthly Charlotte tournaments and has more entrants than BlazBlu on a consistent basis .
I know that Final Round will probably see a lot of entrants this year. Of course, I doubt it will attract a lot of the bigger names but it definitely has seen a triumphant revival in many peoples hearts. The only problem is that it’s competing for the same players as SF4. SF4 players don’t like getting punished, being negative on block, or getting read like a book. I love 3rd Strike because there’s a strong “fuck you,” notion that really drives my competitive fire.
Just call parry a comeback mechanic for them and they’ll flock to it.
While you’re at it, you should call “supers” in general a comeback mechanic, too(puttin’ all those super oldschool heads on blast lolol).
You’re in NC? Theres a 3S cab in fayetteville.
I’m attending college in Charlotte. Haven’t had a chance to make it out to Fayetteville to check it out. It’s in Elite Zone, I believe. I planning on saving up someday to build my own 3rd Strike cabinet though. I fear buying a 3rd Strike board though (will probably stick to a port). The suicidal battery gets me…
The cab is at funfunfun. Same for me tho, I been looking at building a cab myself.
don’t want to change the subject or whatever but everything is punishable on block in sf4. it’s one of the main reasons it’s ass (ultra or uppercut during “blockstrings” anyone?). that’s why they sit on their asses all day long waiting for the other player to make a mistake. choose a fireball character or dictator or some character that happens to have safe pressure and you’ll do fine.
you guys are lucky that 3s has seen a revival in NC. still dead here in the Fresno area of california, unfortunately. nothing will reignite this game imo. not redone sprites, balance, music, backgrounds, or anything else. there needs to be a whole new entry into the series but that will never happen. this game is dead for the majority.
What if SF5 was exactly like 3S, with all the 3S characters, a few SF4 characters, The Final Fight Characters, and Karin. And the 3D models were really good and didn’t look Rob Leifeld creations. With really good original hip hop music. And Ono had no input in it. And…
(Obligatory laughter and calling it all a long shot that will never happen because of corporate bullshit)
le lol
This guys pretty good

The part that’s bolded alone would make the game a bust sales wise. The new gen FGPs today aka the casuals want simplicity. Add execution basics for pretty much the whole cast and insane comeback factors and you get a game that casuals enjoy i.e SF4. You won’t get that with the strict timing of combos that 3S had. Therefore casuals would avoid it like the plague. You had a pretty good idea though.
Oh, forgot to add to the thread
GT - a black man yo (The things he can do with Twelve are mindblowing)
GT - Triforce Triad (His Makoto is scary)
Lol, no. At all.
Lol, I’ve seen that guys youtube channel before. He just plays scrubs all day long with his garbage sean
He’s currently the top ranked 3so player on PSN.
I ran into him yesterday. He did beat me, but most of the things he does are all counterhit setups and just funky mixups that if you haven’t played against a Sean player before, you’d probably get hit by them. If people played him in a FT5, people would figure it out.
Are you guys talking about evasivetj? I ve only beaten him a couple time, he lags real bad. Hes garbage though idk who the hell he played to get all those wins.
evasiveTJ. Claims that he does everything with Sean except he’s switched to Gouki against me a few times. Basically, look for cr.forward into Terry Kick shenanigans, etc. Unless he catches on that you know he’ll just do dumb shite like that, in which case, he just waits for a spot to dash-in throw on you. Likes wake-up super as well.
And more or less, yeah, he probably just plays every match.
Once, I tried to make him understand he just abuses lag but he’s really, and i mean really, confident on his “skills”.
I still can’t understand how can you play a game that much and still have no true idea if you’re good or bad or on how to play the game.
I don’t remember exactly how many matches, but ~250000points with a ratio W/L < 50% iirc…wow…
It’s because he uses Sean “exclusively” that he believes he’s good (i.e. I-use-the-worst-character-so-I’m-more-skilled-than-you mentality).
There are a few really solid players on xbl. A handful off the top of my head…
Gardigans
- Had quite a few matches with him last night and I only beat his Remy. Which I’m pretty sure he does not play. This guy seriously fucked me up I could not read him, he baited all my parries and mixed me up big time. His Ryu and his Oro are extremely solid.
Sandybags
- Best Hugo on xbl hands down. I like playing him and he never seems to under estimate you as a player. Don’t wake-up super this guy. Haha.
Gunfight
- Never played him but have watched his matches on xbl and against mov. What’s to say? Best Dudley in Europe.
Sho Aryates (sp?)
- Really awesome Necro. I’m sure he has a video saved of him double perfecting my noob Q when I first started playing.
PDP pqpfppqpqppf (or whatever)
- I like his Sean. He has really funny and solid spacing and mix-up with him. His Necro ain’t bad neither.
Evilryu78
- I know some may disagree and I hate to give him credit because he essentially trolls me every match we have. I just cannot beat his Ken. I feel he really does take advantage of lag, but he does punish accordingly.
Keep in mind I pretty much play Q exclusively. However, I do not discredit the skills on some of these players.
