Excellent players you played online

You know what’s hilarious? Not poking fun or being a pest or anything but… I’ve been playing this game for a year now and I can say I’m in the class of those who’ve been playing since the game’s inception… Let alone I only started playing 2d fighters with intent to learn in the same time frame as I picked up 3rd Strike… Strangely, I can’t seem to wrap my mind (or care to wrap my mind) around SF4… It’s complex, but then it’s simple, but then it rewards defensive players more than offensive players, but then it gives the losing party “comeback factor,” AND THEN there’s focus attacks?
Oh… Also, online pretty much negates the opportunity for red parries… Yeah… I find when you take an integral part of a system out of that system the system either sputters or doesn’t function at all.
I know for a fact that I can red parry a lot of things consistently. Necro’s tornado hook for instance. I’ve actually come to be able to red parry that on reaction pretty well. No no no… Can’t do this online so I honestly don’t even bother. And for a Makoto player like me, who doesn’t do very great in pressure situation, I tend to avert to this option.
But wait, won’t the inconsistency of an internet connection make red parrying even hard, near impossible for those with beginner-intermediate skill?
Yes.
Honestly, if you really want to prove naysayers wrong, you have to stop posting yourself on the internet with a bravado that screams "I’m better than you and these are reasons why."
A) No one has really heard of you in the 3S community as far as I know of.
B) You and I are posting in this thread way too much
C) You claimed that there aren’t lag tatics -__- There are. Maybe just inadvertent
EDIT AGAIN: The video holds true for 3SOE. I actually saw Renic at FR this. He looked less hippy/grunge than I thought he would… Damn near semi-business casual:
D) You’re better off playing a ranking high in more publicized tournaments. Local tournaments are nice and really bring out the kinship in this community but if you really want people to believe that you’re good and you deserve the merit then you’re going to have compete with best. Have you ever even entered a major?
I’m not asking for your resume or anything but all you’ve really done is post videos and rhetoric pertaining to online matches and self-idolization. If anything, name the tourney that you won and who you beat. Just stating “I won a tourney,” doesn’t mean much w/o the story behind it.
EDIT: I apologize for the rest of the non-sympathetic board for the inquisition.

yeah I just don’t think it’s necessary. in person it’s a bit different.
but on an online forum? is it really something worth going at people about?

i doubt it. also not saying you haven’t apparently done a lot of 3S related stuff. all well and good, but just like how i’m some guy who (not often enough) plays in doylestown now, you’re just some guy who now plays on OE/ggpo. and the reality is online is seen as the little pond. so you may be a big fish there but no one is really convinced (because no one has vouched for you as an offline player).

it’s not really that big of a deal. if you like 3S and are trying to get out and play again then there’s your time to make people shut up. but until then, i don’t think it’s worth it to argue your case.

Where are any of these offline tourney vids that show Artayes winning?

you don’t need to apologize to anyone.

thank you for the smart and non-attacking post. we have played before, you are very good for someone playing only a year…oh…but that’s right…I can’t judge you because it’s online ;sarcasm;

1- placed second in Tennessee majors in 2001 with Necro
2-placed second in two top Florida tourneys in 2003 (lost to FlashMetroid both times)
3-placed top ten in a major Florida tourney with many top players, two top Japanese players (one was a super hot girl and she had the best Ibuki I ever saw) in 2004
4-placed top 5 in a nationals tourney in 2005 (drove 7 hours with 3 other top players to get there)
5-placed first in my first big win in a large tourney held in memphis in 2007 (all the best from around were there)
6-held 15-20 3s tourneys at 3 different arcades in 2 states (hope to have gotten lots more into 3s and I think I did)

never got the chance to go to EVO or SBO. was always something that prevented me in those years. lack of money being a big one then and also the real estate job I had stopped it a few years dammit

I don’t go by this name at all outside the forums. only my friends know both my names. I go by my real name outside of the internet and barely anyone would know me to stick up for me even if they wanted to do so.

oh, DJBOOTY red parries me all the time. he red parries everything. he also full parries supers EXes, etc and all done ONLINE. it’s not impossible, I red parry sometimes and if I miss, well I blame it on ME.

there were some recorded in the early 2000s but believe it or not they were on VHS. my friend recorded a latter one on dvd and I will have to see if he has a copy.

back then arcades and competition was in full string, now its all online (seaking in general of course)

lol @ this thread. Well at least it proves the 3S community is still alive and kicking no matter how fucked up it is.

See, now you’re only problem is these events happened in the South. Good luck defending that. I’m from here. I know the competition down here doesn’t stack up well against the rest of the nation.
I didn’t know Flash played 3S. He came to a CLT tourney in March. He didn’t play 3s though.
Oh, and you should see me offline. I pretty much abandon all hope of punishing normal moves with Hayate online. When I play online it’s definitely more of a barbaric approach to 3S. Offline, my world changes and I’m not pissed off at stupid shit happening… Also, one other thing that I’ve seen people do that furthered my hate for online play. I’ll hold a hayate (at distance) as my opponent wakes up… I’ve baited around elem-hundred dillion, dragons, 56hillion throws, 60billion wake-up supers, a few SPDs, and not a single fireball… -__-…
Also, can someone share the secrets of speedy low parrying I see in videos? I may just have stupid hands but it’s something I really believe I should be competent at.
And another thing: Can someone name a good Ibuki player? I don’t know this matchup at all and find myself completely dumbfounded when I play against someone with even the slightest bit of Ibuki competency. I tried to play her for a bit but I got to the point where I just starting doing silly things to piss people off. She’s known as Trollbuki and taunts midscreen a lot…

tbh, I never had an intent to prove anything. it’s an automatic reaction of mine to shut the same losers up that have been talking shit on me for years because they got sore at me beating them…dun dun dun… yes, ONLINE.

you guys can butt kiss Ryan all day, but I never will. I will continue to play 3s out of love and continue to meet numerous other COOL players (whether they are just learning or season pros).

I know my abilities and that should be all that matters. I listed my accomplishments and defended myself enough.

Flash abandoned 3s around 2006 or so. He played Yun and did shit way before a lot of other Yun players did. one of his friends used to beast everyone with Urien and won all the tourneys he entered.

and yeah, the East side gets dissed on by the West. don’t believe the hype. if I was in California I would be beasting too. Florida has some beast players though in 3s. and I have played near New York and Phili. even played everdred in person in a tourney way back in 2000 that he won (forgot about that one, since I was pretty scrubby in 3s that year)

it’s cool you are better offline, but everyone is or SHOULD be a little better offline. I played a former 3s tourney winner the other day that beasts with Ken, Makoto and Yang and I beat his ass harder offline than ever before.

you need to look at 3s online as keeping up with your game and getting the experience from players from all around and use that to make your offline game better. change your attitude and I guarantee playing online isn’t half bad.

how many people would you say are “good at 3s” in the North America and are still actively playing? Under 50? Just wanna get an understanding of the sample size being used when people are called bad players or whatever.

there are over 1000decent players in the United States.
there are probably about 200 good players in the USA.

it is low, but damn, 50? that would be far too sad.

Are you on crack?

Is he? I don’t know the raw numbers but this piques my interest now.

well, there is always or was always 100 plus players on ggpo at any given time. I would say half the players play half the time and the other half play most of the time. there is probably a good 100 from there.

count all the good players that don’t play online at another 100. and then the really good random players you come across.

between 200 and 250 great USA players

You’re forgetting one important thing, the majority of people on ggpo and 3soe suck. On ggpo for instance, there’s only around 9-10 good players

alright that makes sense, so my criteria is just different.

when I say good ITT I mean “beat the shit out of me” or at least “gave me a really hard time.” but since I’m mid level at best (maybe not even that, dunno) that includes a lot of people.

obviously if you count the good 3s players on our continent as under 100 people then the vast majority of people I’m losing to don’t make the cut. which is fine with me, I never claimed to be good! just wanna play a fun game against people who are better than me and get better myself. luckily I’ve got a few real life friends to keep playing and improving against so most of my play doesn’t have to happen online.

You do realize that’s exactly what you’re doing in this thread, right?

nowhere near
not even close
haha

Hahahhahahaa over 200 great players in USA aahahahaha
This guy is hilarious, a random dude that decided to pick necro as an avatar, trolling the shit out of srk and claiming he’s the best
This is better than the easy 21 hit Ken combo

well… sadly some 3S east coast players are like that, cocky as shit for no reason… that shit make me go
