Wow, this thread is intense as hell. Sometimes wish people could get along a little better, but it is what it is and I’m sure there’s a lot of history/baggage, too.
First of all, regarding Dyne vs. Artayes… I don’t feel like watching the videos right now, but I don’t care what anyone says, those guys are both very good. I don’t know nearly as much about Dyne (except that he has a reputation of being a beast) other than that I think the first night 3SOE was out, PeacefulJay was streaming 3SOE, and Dyne was in the lobby. People begged him to play, and he finally relented. He said not to expect much - he was on freaking xbox controller… he absolutely obliterated everybody for hours. When I went to bed, he was still winning, had like 50 straight… Alex Valle joined the room. Dyne bodied him. Yeah I know Alex was never a hardcore 3S guy and I’m sure he was rusty, but if a guys wins 50+ straight on stream and beasts on Alex Valle, it’s safe to say the guy is good.
As for Artayes… well, he’s godlike, period… he isn’t unbeatable - nobody is. But anyone who says he sucks loses a lot of credibility. Starting around Christmas and through January, I played with Artayes almost every day… couldn’t touch him at first, and watched him streak regularly on lobbies full of most of the strongest players available on any given night. Playing him a ton and taking his advice leveled me up massively.
Not gonna hate on anybody mentioned or compare, trying to keep it positive…
Here are some people I consider the best of the best that I’ve played, just off the top of my head and in no particular order. I’m sure I’m forgetting plenty.
-papiizy - duh
-sandybags - first time we played was LOL… I’ve gotten a lot better at the match-up, but damn every other Hugo I’d played until then was free and I got completely destroyed… eye-opening for sure.
-EatableTech765 - I remember playing him one time after I had been doing really well for a few days and thinking I was pretty hot… I couldn’t press a button. Adjusting to his game leveled me up a lot, but whenever I run into him I have to bring my A+ game or get bitchslapped.
-DaRage - always changes characters on me every three games which I find frustrating, and he mocks me whenever he blocks a tatsu and punishes, but nevertheless he’s very good
-chaitea007 and haoism - there have been nights where both of these guys beat me down, but I have usually played them at like 5 AM when I have no business being awake so my opinion is less clear (on the other hand, I am sure as hell warmed up by then!)
-hispanicjap - for some reason I seem to do better against him relative to other players I see fight him, but he’s still very difficult. Nice guy, too.
-N0M0reFunland - one of the best Akumas for sure… thanks so much for teaching me a whole lot and just for being fun to play and chat with. Our Akuma mirrors are wild as fuck hahaha
-Arlieth - haven’t seen him all that much, especially lately
-SHD Artayes - see above… thanks for all of the games and good chats, man. Can’t imagine I’ll ever forget staying up until like 6 AM on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day playing with you, ed209cal, and zerotolerance, messaging you guys all the time because I didn’t have a mic LOL
-katsudoro - best Oro I’ve played, hilarious and nice guy, too
-And because I saw him post in the thread, I’ll close with a mention of ShinAkuma204… pretty positive we only played once, a nice long set, and it was late at night, but it was enough for me to know that your Akuma was quite strong.
