Excellent players you played offline

MOV is the best I have ever played.

It’s pretty amazing how ignorant most east coast / online players are about 3s :frowning:

And Dander: it’s “than”. Use “than” for making comparisons, use “then” for connecting two events into a sequence of events.

While Denjizz is a troll and it might not apply in this particular opinion, you do realize you created a thread about excellent players people played OFFLINE right? Were you expecting some kind of worldly objective answer that would defy that criteria?

For those that don’t know lemme interpret what he just said:

GGPO, ggpo ggpo ggpo Chris ggpo ggpo Sean ggpo ggpo ggpo g-g-p-o. Ggpo, ggpo ggpo basketball ggpo.

GGPO was impressed.

Thanks for that but I understand the grammar behind it, I’m really just referring to what the players themselves might be talking about.

Two Champions meet each other in the third finals in a series of three tournaments where each one won a prior tournament. You can easily say that they are both championship material and in no way lucky, but in poker, as in most things, there is an undoubted element of luck. So in their situation it would pay to be good, and it has, but it would be even better to be as good as they are and get lucky. That way the lucky one gets a leg up on the other champion. What’s funny about that saying, and it is a saying - I’ve never seen it written - is that it also lends itself perfectly to the bad beats that are common in poker.

So Yi and Pyro, or the champion poker players, would fit the “lucky then good” wording of the phrase

and a scrub getting a lucky parry, or beginner getting the nuts and playing them, would fit the “lucky than good” wording of the phrase.

I think the analogy fits Yi and Pyro perfectly.

The irony of this statement…

What I really meant was, I’ve never played Pyro, Yi, Boss, Kuroda, what have you (though I have played some that would be on a similar level)…so those people will never be named if I were to contribute to this thread. I’d name the people I’ve actually played, and on an objective ranking scale, they might or might not be considered “excellent”. But alas, I’d still name them because they certainly fit the criteria. But if you’ve never played them yourself, how would you really know if the person presenting them is more or less right or not? And even then, your judgment can only go as far as your understanding on the game, and that in itself has a multitude of layers that very few players can truly interpret…so why do you call people ignorant?

So really, what I’m getting at is, what is the point of this thread? It is no more than all the other dickriding threads, except it is presented in a similar fashion to the online thread, which itself has a purpose (helping players match-make online). This on the other hand, has no purpose other than to incite further flame wars, by a population filled with ignorance (in its actual definition and not negative connotation) anyway.

mio can’t help but make a mess anytime his hands get to typing it seems.

Indeed the greatest enemy of knowledge is the illusion of knowledge. This is why mio failed horribly in Yi’s thread.

let’s all meet somewhere and figure this out. large team tournament

West Coast
East Coast
Europe
Canada-Alaska
GGPO

everyone would need team names too. for us I suggest “The Rising Gods of the North”

wherever we meet, not Iowa. it smells really bad there.

We met someone from Iowa. She stepped up.

“What are you guys, a band or having a bachelor party?!” sips frozen margarita @ this Margaritaville / Casino Royale?

Two dudes were actually really in a band before, some wear these vests, even MattxChin was walking by so he saw us and did SMH-look at these fools-pherai probably didn’t even change his lumberjack shirt from yesterday, but we grabbed him before he got away and he came over to sit down too. It probably looked like some kind of gathering so that lady wasn’t really wrong.

“We’re from IOWA! We’re known for… sweet corn…” - she said with another lady in tow. Both were wearing the trope of “women wear $400 dresses in Vegas but might yak all over them by the end of the night,” lol. And of course the lady to approach our said group had to be weak in the knees tipsy drunk so she can’t control herself anymore. So some guy with them soon came over to grab her and get them away from us scumbags with too many beer bottles all around us.

I wasn’t even worried about that. I pressed a button - I always press buttons - and won $400 with the last $1.00 credit someone left in the machine. What are the odds! There are these photos of people above the machine having won a bunch of money. That could have been me.

But according to the rules, if you don’t win at least $1500, you didn’t win. This is exactly like I played Harmonaz the other day. The game said KO from me pressing buttons, towards strong by my Oro when he’s in the corner and 2 character length away me trying not to lose, instead of trying to win, by backing off and throwing something in there without a good reason or thought behind it, including my character and leaving myself wide open. Flashforward all the frames, low medium kick-> tatsu, Shoryu, KO. The game knew who was supposed to win.

He made an objective statement “the single most talented player”, not “this is the best / most talented player I’ve played”. It’s the opposite: this thread prompts you all to make subjective statements, not objective statements. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, but I was just pointing out how often several east coast / ggpo / oe srk regulars prove their ignorance and isolation from the rest of the 3s world. And there would be nothing wrong with that if you guys weren’t so self-righteous and sure of yourselves about the strength of your players. That’s what makes it ignorant.

Please tell me where my ignorance lies. I am eager to learn. I know I have much to improve upon and learn, but Denjizz was wasting my time with beginner/intermediate facts about ryu… and when I said thanks but I already know, Yi used it as an opportunity to try and pick on me like some kind of bully in a fucking elementary school playground. I didn’t fail horribly, it’s just that most of you are dicks that like to single people out and hate on them. This is why I don’t socialize or associate with much of the 3s community. I only care about playing the game and improving my skills, I don’t care about what any of you think of me.

Metric, you’re not that great and I know I can beat you. Let’s money match some time. Otherwise continue eating dicks.

Lol Tebbo you are soooo incredibly butthurt from that one time that I called you a console/oe scrub that you will now take every opportunity to hate on me. WTF AKUMA HAX is just trying to go with the flow of the crowd. You guys are soo damn cool!

You whine quite a lot on these boards. If you haven’t noticed, flaming occurs in each and every thread with no mods around. The same thing you are saying about this thread could go for the online thread. I made this thread to incite discussion about offline play because I felt it was needed, since almost every other thread pertains to online play. Either contribute to the topic or shut the fuck up and get out. Nobody cares about your whiny bullshit.

Go ahead all, hate me more. I don’t give a fuck.

Why are you so angry with me? LOL

I’m not angry, but if you’re just going to fire a shot suggesting that I’m ignorant, at least say how so I can learn. Otherwise you’re just firing a shot just to talk shit, and there’s no point to that other than being asshole. Like I said, all I care about is learning about the game and getting better. Everything else is a waste of time.

When I see that statement, I know that there is some truth behind it, but he phrases it in a manner as to troll you, to evoke your rage. You fall for it because you do not have the discipline and humility to see past it, and instead you feed right into what he wants. Furthermore, you continue to base an entire demographic (or 2) of players based off a few individuals’ shortsightedness. If you are above and beyond these people, then rise above them, not stoop to their level.

If you think what I do is whine, you’re even more shortsighted than I had thought. What exactly are you out to prove by clashing with these players who have different opinions than you do?

Yet you care enough to respond to people who criticize you…you sure?

If Denjizz is just trolling and isn’t serious, then it was a successfull troll and I admit defeat in that respect.

I care about the topics being discussed, which include criticisms about me. I engage these critics to see if these criticisms are valid or not. I think its pretty funny how Tebbo and wtfakuma jumped on the opportunity to hate on me but I think it’s obvious I’m not looking to please anyone. As far as my “clashes”, I only intend to clarify, explain and divulge what I have found to be true. If I am mistaken about anything, please correct me and explain to me how/where I am wrong. Perhaps I am generalizing far too much about certain groups of people and I can see why that gets under people’s skin. I will refrain from those generalizations and I apologize. I am opinionated but not close-minded.

If your sole pursuit is to improve, feel free to come on GGPO and I would be glad to give any pointers I can arrive at…

I thought it was pretty self explanatory. If you need someone to teach you how ignorance works, I can’t help you – maybe Pyro can, I think he teaches elementary or something. If you aren’t angry, and this is how you normally deal with anybody that disagrees with you, then you’re probably a dickhead in real life. Why would I want to play a game I love against someone that is an asshole? This isn’t marvel, and I definitely wouldn’t use Third Strike to justify my worth in a money match. Go ahead and throw empty insults, you’re just making yourself look like a jerk.

You’re right, though. I’m not that great at Third Strike, and I’ve never seen you play, so you might be able to beat me – but what does that have to do with you being ignorant? Nothing.

Carry on gents. Lets name a bunch of players we already know are good. Cool thread.

At what point did you disagree with me? Can you please cite that? As far as I can see, all you did was come in and call me ignorant, I asked “in what way am I ignorant?” And you refuse to answer. Is that how you deal with people in real life? Just walk into a room and seriously make a suggestive/insulting comment about a person to their face and then refuse to elaborate? Sounds like a great way to spend your time…

Only thing I’m saying to you is either play me competitively, help me understand my ignorance, or fuck off and don’t waste my time with anything else.

Just because you contributed absolutely nothing to this thread doesn’t mean others will or must do the same. There have been several people mentioned already that I either haven’t heard of or didn’t know x info about them. The point is to explore what made these players good so that those who want to know can keep those traits in mind for improvement. I’ve learned a lot already. If you don’t appreciate it and are just here to talk shit… then once again, kindly fuck off.

Much appreciated, I’ll see if I can get it up and running.

Hey, at least so we can settle something that’s not, “mio calls out East coast (first)”, because Denjizz successfully trolled the 3s forum?! :nono:

Denjizz quit trollin’, I would put $20 on you vs mio, use 3 Punch macro for Denjin charge and save your joints, or claw hand and have Jab on R1, two fingers over face button punches.

I think I was giving you a hard time - in my own special way - about you advocating GGPO all the time or something, like you were interrupting threads to talk about the wonders of GGPO.

I don’t even know why I was upset about that. I think I was just mad about GGPO, that place can make you so mad that you just take it with you for years wherever you go even if you’ve never even been on there in a long time. Someone gave me a fun life tidbit on that, don’t even play just go troll the weirdoes in the chat, best thing ever. I will not tell you what 3s troll told me he used to do that.

Its the same thing as last time. mio lists everybody who can beat him.

And we were supposed to explode the universe when you offered Showtime to shut me up for good, not the real paraphrase but it sounds better this way. That was cool man, even when I gave you a hard time and had no direct communication with you to just figure it out and deal with it because it was really my bad, you still didn’t have a grudge or anything - like “if I see him at the arcade I’ll punch him in the face” or however bad and stupid some of these words on here get, how sad is that dude that wants to fight Yi for example if we need one. Somebody wrote into the DrSubZero show making Shogo laugh about “Fucking Yi!” when the guy said, “I think Yi wanted to fight me!!”

Now from new information in the thread, Showtime would probably Demon me back to Xbox Huge (or 180 like DevilJin calls it but nobody calls it that) Live 2006-2009 scrubbing it up and being JR-MADriguez aspie with Tatsu spams, Tatsu for movement, last hit of Tatsu for knockdown and do nothing with it, Shoryu (x Super if they block), on everywakeup. Sometimes cr Fierce first from so much mashing, and fantastic damage because that guy would do a low on my wakeup!

Also taunts too. Lots of taunts and I hadn’t even watched a stupid JRod video yet.

Taunts are for another thread and so is the topic that online only can breed a monster who wants to be JRod or weird attitudes towards play, like what I saw from djbooty. JRod level 2 right there.

Its good to get angry guys. It will revive the 3s scene with some hyped money matches.

Just like Gootecks vs JR. It ain’t exciting without that WWE promo.

Metric vs Mio (FT10 for $500) Lets go!
