Finals were gay, no suspense, no drama. As soon as everyone saw it was Wong vs Ortiz everyone knew Wong was just gonna beat his ass three games…and he did. Wasn’t even interesting. Meh, still congrats to Justin, he’s still top-level player…I wish he woulda got to play Soo in the finals tho so we could see if that rape he took from Soo in the 5on5 was the truth. But Soo lost that heartbreaker to Kuan.

Maybe all you people that keep whining about Ricky vs. Justin finals should actually give ricky some props for beating your precious rowtron’s ass. I’m no fanboy but Ricky is getting dissed when he earned his way to the finals. Just goes to show the importance of pool play when loss’ don’t go away. Random loss to Randy Liu (no disrespect to Randy a solid player) make it one bad game and go home for Row. Prolly more excitement if we get row/justin or Soo/Justin after last nite, but you gotta win to get there.

even if sanford was there and went 5-0 EC still woulda lost (since his replacement ricky won 2 or 3 so add 2 or 3 more wins to EC -2 from WC and we still lost). We needed more team scrub on our side! but justin came home with the money and in the end that’s all that really matters.

I don’t know but I heard mixup had the longest win streak in casual play at EVO on MvC2 with 48 wins.
I heard David Hem beat that with 100 wims im Chaos with Chun Li.
there’s also the inspirational/motivational factor. Some of the EC teammates morale/confidence may have been fucked up by sanford not going. They may not have been playing with all of their hearts. Likewise the WC morale/confidence may have increased when they learned that Sanford will not be on the team and thus performed better.
It is impossible to say what would have happened had Sanford actually went.
Shit happens. WC won the team tourney, EC won the singles tourney (which is far more important IMO).
The score was 16-9, if Sanford were there that would have been 5 more wins for EC and 5 less wins for WC. Final score would have been 11-14 EC. Damn you Sanford!!!
Sanford would have had to win atleast 4 of his matches for the win, which we all can agree would have been more than likely.

Fuck a exhibition tournament. That’s all the 5 on 5 tournament was. There was no money on it and it didn’t mean shit. The only time exhibition tournament mean anything is when you don’t have that game in your singles tournament roaster. That’s the only reason I give the past usa vs. japan in 3S any respect. Not because the japanese won, but because there was no 3S singles tournament before this year in the past few B/EVO tournaments. Just like the A3 exhibition last year. Since there was no A3 in evo2k2 that’s all you have to judge someone’s skill level. That 5 on 5 shit was nothing more than a over hyped casual play with tournament style rules.

If you have another 5 on 5 exhibition tournament next year. Make it so the members of each team has to put money down to enter the team. DON’T HAVE THESE MEANINGLESS EXHIBITION TOURNAMENTS if you plan on having the same damn tournament in singles, PERIOD. It’s a waste of time and it only starts flame wars on the SRK threads. Maybe EVO would end before 10pm if you would just get rid of the 5 on 5 crap. EC vs. WC in MvC2 and GGXX was truely a waste on time IMO if there’s no money on the line. Maybe if there some loot put up by both teams it will make them more incline to play they’re best instead of sandbagging. Just my advice from 1 organizer to another.
The money is more important IMO and if someone says something different they are on crack. You win a exhibition tournament or you take home all of the loot and the true title of world best MvC2 player? hhmmm… seems pretty easy to see what is more important if you break it down like that.
Only if Sanford replaced Wigfall. What everyone is saying, yet most aren’t capable of comprehending, is that Ricky scored 2 wins. The most sanford could have hoped to do in his place is win 5, increasing the total by 3, making the final score 13 to 12 WC wins. Sanford winning all of his matches wouldn’t have changed anything. Your math is flawed.
LOL, man, this is just insane. Plus, I dont think WC would have to worry about Sanford, he came to some WC tourneys and lost it all, like he usually does at EC. Better worry about Ricky, 2nd place t Evo(Sanford never got close to that) and a player who took 2 wins out of WC in the 5 on 5

Exactly. It is impossible to tell just what impact Sanford’s appearance may have had. It could have been better, it could have been worst for either team. There are far too many factors to incorporate to say they would have clearly lost or clearly won.
Just like saying Justin Wong would have won had he gone to B4. It’s impossible to tell.
But in the end WC won the team tourney. Everyone agrees to that. There’s no excuse making here. EC won the singles tourney. No excuse making here.

Yea your right about that. Who knows what sanford would have done in the team tournament. But the better question is WHO REALLY CARES?!?!?!!?!?!? It didn’t mean anything. It was a over hyped casual play IMO with no money on the line. WC won in a meaningless exhibition tournament. It was great that Soo own justin up in that, because it gave more hype to the singles tournament. But as you saw EC took top 2 spots in MvC2 when it counted. No offence to soo, but unless you win the big tournament everything else is BS. He is already one of the top MvC2 players in the world and I know he wanted to take the title away from justin(as did everyone that competed in the singles MvC2 tournament). When you get to the top 5-10 players of the world (in any game) they all want and think they can win it all. I don’t think they went into the tournament thinking they would lose let alone losing before getting to justin in the finals. Soo is a great player and Row is a great player, but ricky placed higher when it counted in the USA biggest tournament. So let’s the hate stop with ricky and how boring the finals where.
