Best of Five for MvC3.
it’s possible to know people are from the same city or same state based on zip code.(different zip code).
I wrote the code and get the data for my current company. it’s not even hard to do. Either evo use fail software or they forgot to do it this year.
I think there should be an online bracket. It would be great if the command station had simple net books or old laptops (behind a velvet rope) that after a pool was finished, judges could log in and enter in their paper bracket after each 16 man pool was concluded.
I think $20 per game entry for a higher pot to pay the top 32 would be great. They should get some medal, like the ones you get for completing a marathon.
Also for brackets zip codes, they should weight/prioritize the first 2 digits of a zip code, because if the first 2 numbers match, the last 3 zip codes could contain the same people from the same region.
Thanks for streaming the event once again. This year’s stream has been the best one yet.
My only feedback is this event needs to be televised. With 2 million viewers under your belt, I think it can happen.
i watched on stream from the g4 website, and my only complaint was the talking was out of sync.
not sure how many others had this problem and it has never happed before on a spooky stream.
it did not affect me it was still so hype best event i have watched so far.
keep up the good work and looking forward to next years
more chairs at evo please.
Do your best to get more sponsors to throw a lot more money into the prize pool for the main games and I mean a lot more. 10k dollars is a joke for what it takes to win at these games with the amount of competition and time dedicated. Do not raise the price of venue fee, but raise the price of game entered a reasonable amount, we did have to travel to Vegas and most of us get hotel rooms so an increase would be easy. Just need more corporate sponsors to throw tons of money at the stream and event, shouldnt be too difficult seeing as how this event set stream records for gaming.
Better yet a simple online bracket app that allows the judges to click on the winner of the match which will update the current pool’s bracket in real time. Should be easy, everyone almost has a smart phone these days. Actually be quicker than the judge have to write down the name of the winner on their piece of paper.
Yeah. Cause cosplaying is fucking stupid and has no place at EVO.
Same with those dumb ass signs people had in the front row. “Big phat phony” or whatever and that dumb cardboard salt shaker.
You’re not funny. It’s just distracting and fucking annoying.
I love EVO. I really do. This is my 3rd year attending. I want to see it succeed and get bigger. More than anything. But I want it to keep its core. I want it to be a fighting game tournament that happens to have side things that are still relevant to fighting game tournaments. I loved all the kiosks and panels this year. I really did. But the cosplayers and the fake hype with the stupid signs just killed me. EVO has never been about that and I hope it doesn’t change into that.
I want EVO to stay a fighting game tournament and fighting game hub for the world.
Not a video game convention that happens to have fighting game tournaments like so many others have became.
1.)
Yeah that guy was cool. Evo is growing bigger, so more help specific types of volunteers would be nice.
2.)Adding to the previous idea, a mini help booth would be nice. The mini help booth would have information to the tournament event times, panels, lost and found(event is growing, more items are being lost), etc.
3)Water booths were awesome
4)Venue hours should be open earlier/longer
5)Random stage/training stage rules for every game…and best of 5 for Marvel =D
10am til Midnight isn’t long enough? Really?
I don’t really see anything wrong with the cosplay, its all in good fun. cant really complain about hot cosplay chicks. the curly mustache magneto cosplay was pretty hilarious to. Its not like there doing anything to take away from the evo experience or whatever.
Except they weren’t hot.
You weren’t hanging around enough with me then bro.
I like the idea of some kind of help desk, although that does require manpower.
I think hand sanitation wipes and purell pumps at the water stations would go a long way for helping containing the Evola virus that everybody caught. I think it is possible that a lot of the contamination came from everybody touching the water spouts and cups.
Also, one thing that would be great is a Giant poster sized billboard infront of the event containing the following info:
Schedule
Info for Panels such as room numbers
Other info players should know.
I think the biggest problem of the 16 player pools is double jeopardy. Especially in “pools of death” where veritable top 32 talent got eliminated.
You can’t really avoid that issue though while still having manageable pools that start on time. I would just mitigate it by increasing the pool size to 32 and qualifying four instead of two. This basically only makes those “killer rematches” in pools a 50/50 shot instead of a sure thing.
having a slightly bigger pool also decreases the odds of local players playing each other in pools.
After that occurs, mixup the brackets a bit, and split the 4 players to different sections of the bracket. It doesn’t really matter much on the winners side, but the losers side is very important.
That’s a really good point. I think 32-man pools would help tremendously. Not only because of double jeopardy, but there will be less pools, more room, and I can see the tournament running faster and more efficiently like that.
Props to Evo staff. The tournament was run extremeley well for that many entrants. This being the eighth Evo I went to you guys get mad props for making it better and better.
-Big props to you guys for putting the Balrog movie and the Tekken Tag 2 matches in with the finals. The sunday finals were my favorite so far
-Close to the strip or on the strip as long as its in Vegas WE ALL should be good to go. Im guessing its difficult to secure Ceasars or a strip hotel annualy
Not sure what this top 32 payout request is though. I think top 8 is just fine unless the number of entrants skyrockets
I really wish there was a dislike/fail option like other forums. So we know who the fuck is an idiot on this site.
anyways
- I’m more of a shopper and I love buying knicknacks clothing etc… IMO for the amount of people there and how much the booths were selling i’d love to see more people selling stuff. And I’d like to see more community modders that we see at other tournaments. I know mad catz paid an arm and a leg to have their “modding” but seriously, I came there hoping to get some LED mods done in my stick, dual modding, etc…
honestly hopefully future vendors saw the amount of traffic was in that convention center and they will be willing to have out booths.
-
the water stations were great
-
The side tournaments were great

Nothing to do with evo, but fuck those idiots that would go on 30 minute win streaks on 3rd strike or SFxT or Tekken Tag, I didn’t want to wait in line for 30 minutes to get bodied at a game I didn’t know then wait another 30 minutes to play. Either have more stations or kick people off like after a 3 game win streak.

While the rio rooms were nice, especially there was a couch i immediately rented out, it wasn’t necessarly a bad venue, but the resteraunts sucked there (except the steaks) they wern’t prepared to have the amount of traffic that evo provided (heard we booked out the hotel) and the table games blew (no unique games like the strip casinos, aka same shit as back home) and there was no girls there, I feel like if you hold it on the strip (if possible, and it’s probably more expensive) people will be more reluctant to stay at other places on the strip, and there would be more girls for me to look at.
-
Shoutouts to George (I believe that’s him asian dude) for letting the tech talk guys set up a booth so they could raffle off tickets for a community built stick and raised 1500 dollars for red cross.
-
Drink/Snack Vendors and general drink rules. It would be nice to get some flavoured drinks inside the venue, but I don’t know if thats becuase the casino doesnt wanna distract business from their gift store. Maybe get some drink sponsorships… evo is a pretty big event… was suprised not see some girls giving out red bull or something.
Also the no liquor thing. This I can understand due to some minors. But the event is held inside of a casino. I’m gonna be honest and say I drank in there, in one of those yard drinks, and with red cups. I really can’t see the issue. What’s going to stop me from sitting down at a table 50 feet away, getting sloshed for free then stepping inside the venue blitzed out of my mind.
Also if it’s possible get someone to set up a snack bar/beer garden or something
- other than that it was alot of fun, can’t wait till next year.
edit: Just remembered one thing
MANDATORY SHOWERING. It wasn’t that bad compared to some other stuff I’ve been too, but damn, the ref’s should be able to DQ people for smelling like shit.
Also gonna agree on higher tournament fees so the pots bigger and tehre is more payout for top 32.
this was my biggest one, and it’s why it annoyed me so much. People have like a whole year to save up for evo, and they didn’t want to spend the 5 dollars for a cab to hit up a place to eat on the strip. Hell we went to in and out the cab was 8 dollars and I had people bail because they didn’t want to pay 2 dollars for the cab.
So I think my complaint is if you can barely afford to go to vegas, don’t go. lol
