Those are videos from Cicada.
And a monitor’s Response Time is NOTHING to do with Input Lag.

is there less lag if you use component cables? or its the same as hdmi.
Japanese will use arcade cabinets, which use digital signage monitors.
The response time listed on monitor stats have nothing at all to do with input lag.
…
I’m sort of surprised by all this. The “evo monitor” was tested extensively before it’s use last year. It’s been “the monitor” everyone has been buying this year. It’s not exactly hard to find info on it here. Is this just a marvel thing that didn’t really get tested?
Well maybe if you guys want lag less asus monitors then you should start making a petition for asus to sponsor evo, otherwise shut up and deal with it.
Also little burst of lag here and there that throw off your game in critical moments seem to have been the problem here. The asus are steady on whatever delay they got, where as the alienwares are not, so if tokido was trying a 1 frame link when this “lag spike” happened and then you go ahead and blind test him, the possibilities of it happening again are pretty slim given the short amount of time.
lol that mentality is dumb
but anyway, I believe most of the problems come from MvC2 specifically (which some people can’t understand).
and yeah, posts on previous page were jokes. plenty of people not 2 and 0 and people in finals felt the lag. VDO who is probably the most solid player ever and always plays at disadvantage (this dude does NOT choke) had simple launch+colossus combos fucking up on the tvs
guess what, we had a PS3 tourney at MWC…on CRTVs. VDO didn’t fuck up once, neither did any other player.
also, I’ve played casuals on HDTV pS3 marvel. lag
these 2/0, tourney jitters, etc. are just stupid replies. like I said, test that specific game at that specific time and on the same tv THEN we will talk, until then your posts are all practically useless talking about these tests (unless it’s for SSf4 since I have no exp with that)
what you ARE right about is that, going forward (though there probably won’t be MVC2 at evo anymore) if it’s laggy HDTV then that is what everyone knows to play on. the problem this year is that all the crazy practice on PS3 marvel on CRTVS and the tourneys of PS3 marvel on CRTVs were pretty much useless when those HDTVs were thrown at as (perhaps I didn’t read anywhere that those tvs would be used)
all those sexy crtvs at evo in the back could’ve been used : /
Thanks for the advice. I purchased the Asus VH236H and was wondering what settings do you play on?
My Alienware OptX? AW2210 has just arrived. I connected my PS3 to it via HDMI and my speakers to the audio out of the monitor, but no audio coming out of the speaker.
Am I doing something wrong? What’s the proper way to connect the monitor to PS3?
Please help, thx.
Aren’t you supposed to connect your speakers to your PS3?
Have any Optical Cables lying around?
Oh. So I’m supposed to connect audio separately via an optical digital cable… hmm… but I don’t think my speaker has an optical digital cable port tho.
Do I need a speaker that accepts optical digital cable? Or are there some workarounds?
I only have experience with a z5500 as my speakers.
Actually, have you fooled around with the settings when you plugged whatever into the monitor?
Or tried google?
Set you PS3 to output video via HDMI, but output audio via the red & white cable that came with your PS3. Hook red & white cables up to speakers.
Well, who knows wich monitors are using the “next gen” arcade cabs, like Vewlix and Lindbergh??
Thx. This works with SSF4.
I also did some more testing with my original setup: HDMI to monitor and audio out from the monitor. The audio works with some games: Puzzle Fighter and HDR; but doesn’t work with some other games: SSF4, Final Fight Double Impact. Strange…
this test has never been done.
I think this is the main issue. You can have the perfect settings (correct game mode/sprite filters/etc.) and you will still feel a difference on an unfamiliar set up. When you spend years playing certain games you can tell a difference. It is all muscle memory. Sometimes you can adjust and sometimes you just can’t and that is when the frustration sets in.
Also, overall, could the ps3 just lag more than the xbox? It has already been proven to have 1 frame more lag. Could it be possible for it to do that for all games? Maybe it has something to do with how it process the video signal.

I don’t know what monitors they use, but I know they are pretty expensive. Probably not an affordable option for Evo.
Vewlix F uses a 6ms Sanwa monitor and Vewlix L a 8ms Samsung monitor. As for Lindbergh, I can’t remember although they also are available with 2 different monitors.
So which monitors did you prefer at evo2k10 or in general? The Alienware or the ASUS?
