EVO SF4 5on5 Selection

so what, we’re all looking at ppl who have “experience at EVO” here, or we’re looking at people who are “good enough” in IV to compete. i still say we run sum ranking battles from now until EVO to determine who has accumulated enough points to display that they’re in it to win it.:clapdos:

I was just dicking around. I say just pick people who have won large tournies…PERIOD

Since John Choi has final say regardless, close the thread and let the tournaments do the talking!

but choi made the thread =(

hey, shut up you.

im jk allen. :lovin:
dont demasculate me w/ ur cammy

Okay, there’s four spots open for the norcal team in SF4, but we all know that ricky is going to be the first member chosen on the team, not only has he won the 128 man tourney that just happened which proved he is gdlk, but he also has the experience of being on a team and playing against all top players. His spot is locked in my opinion.

Now for the rest of the spots, here is what I propose to Choi, the only fair way to determine the last three spots in my opinion is to have one big qualifying tourney in which 1st 2nd and 3rd place are the last members chosen to be on team norcal. If all you sf4 players want the spot soooooooooooooooooooooooooo badly, then you should be able to prove it in a big tourney, in which this would have a lot of pressure on those who want the spot bad and will play a lot harder for it. Also if our norcal team members can perform and play under this type of pressure, then we should be able to be good in the tourney at evo.

We did something like this back in 2004 for marvel when ricky couldnt decide on the final spot for team norcal, so the only solution was to hold a tourney in which the highest place in the tourney earned the final spot. Not only did I earn that final spot back in 2004, but it did take my game to another level, in which it could do the same for any of the other sf4 norcal team members.

This is just an idea I’m proposing because not everyone can make it to all these random tournies that are going on and also not all the right players might be at a specific tourney, so it would probably be best to just hold one big tourney in advance so all the right people can make it and to see who wants the spot that baaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

Cuz remember norcal , we don’t wanna just send anyone up there and get our region humiliated, we wanna look good, so we gotta make sure we send the best up there.

didn’t i beat you that tournament cableguy =)

lol true mr lew, you did, but you were already a norcal team member so it didnt matter, i still got the spot because i finished higher than all the participants who were not on the team (:

blah blah blah blah blah

The only thing that should be discussed, imo, is what other tournaments aside from Fudd need to be considered. It’s up to Choi to tabulate, computate and regulate the list.

Oakland?
Davis?
Sacramento?

Any of these gonna be worth considering?

One big tournament has also been done before for lists like this…and I could swear it always ends in either “who the fuck was that random ass lucky guy that got into the top 4” or “so-and-so wins but doesn’t want the spot…who is gonna take it DRAMA”.

I don’t see a #3…playing mind games outside of SF4…

What’s up yalls, its Montry.

If Evo was to start next week, my picks would bee…

  1. Anthony
  2. Ricky Ortiz
  3. A_Rival
  4. Magus1234
    and
  5. Long or Haunts

Shoutouts to YoungLegend, Coopa, Jack, M.Gorlab, Michael (Sagat), and Jason the Boy of Joy. All of these guys are too legit and could possibly tear shit up the next few months leading up to Evo.

Oh and special shoutout to all the Honda players in NorCal, I love that guy man!

I honestly don;t want to be on the team unless I win a big tourney.

Oakland tourneys are kinda far for Davis and Sac players. We can make a few but not all of them. 1.5 hour drive, a toll and having to play 50 balrogs in tourney is pretty painful.

Yeah, that seems to be a problem, a lot of players in Norcal are really spread out, so it makes it difficult for people to consistently be at all the various tourneys. But then, you could say that those people who are able to make it to the most tourneys and place high up are probably the most dedicated and should be on the team.

No offense…but if someone wants to be considered but isn’t willing to drive 90 minutes and face Rogs for the spot…well…yeah…whoever reps NorCal hopefully isn’t afraid of either driving or x-copy Balrog. I’m pretty sure top SoCal isn’t afraid of those things…

Midwest players would probably want to punch us in the face for claiming we are “too spread out”.

With that said, I don’t imagine any of the top picks having to make every tournament. Just place well in the ones you can make to catch our/Choi’s eye. That’s my suggestion.

Deleted cause anthony has my respect.

Do you need a violin? You’re the one that bitched about driving a whole 90 minutes into a heavily SF populated area and playing Rogs for a spot on the team. You’re not willing to do that, which is a bare minimum for people in other parts of the country, then maybe it should be more difficult for you to rep NorCal in the 5 on 5.

Just a quick side note: I drove an hour one-way, once a week for casuals. Would have to drive back sometimes at 4am in the morning. I know I am not the only one around here that does that. You’re getting zero sympathy from people like me.

Weak Internet face save #52: best to act like a shitty comedian than own up to a shitty comment. What else did you say that you meant, but want to play like it was a crappy joke when you’re called out?

I’m going to put all Davis players who show up to Oakland tournaments up against Boxers in the first, and SECOND rounds. Have fun, kids.

Scary thing is, there’s enough Boxers around here to DO it. 0_o

J/k obv.
