Norcal players, please note that there will not be a specific qualifier held to determine the EVO SF4 5 man team. This is due to a variety of reasons but mainly being that the game is new and skill level is changing rapidly, and not everyone that places in norcal tourneys will actually attend EVO.
So, I’m simply keeping tabs on norcal tourney winners as the main criteria for selection and will finalize the team when I actually see you in person at EVO. Note that other than tourney size and credibility, I will give preference to the more recent winners. For example, if there are 2 (similar level) tourney winners but one was in March and the other was in July right before EVO, I’ll give preference to the July winner.
Exceptions can be made and winning norcal tourneys is not the only way to be on the team, but it is the most certain method. So if you want to try for a spot on the team, be active in the norcal tourney scene and shine.
Just let tourney results do the talking, this way there is no arguing or politics involved. I know how much of a pain in the ass picking a team can be. But what tournies are being held in consideration? Just large ones? Cause I know there are lots of people all around that may be winning lots of local tournies but didnt make it to the last 2 large ones we held
This is what should be discussed here. Not individual nominations. IMO Fuddruckers had a massive turn out. I suggest the results from the last one and any future one being considered. What others?
What tournaments are you looking into as consistent proof you can hang? I know fudruckers is a big consideration but what other tournaments are important?
he’ll prolly be looking at any tournies that have top placers playing against each other (so yea fuddrucker as one example at the moment).
there might be other players who just haven’t come out into the scene yet so it’s hard to tell what tournies now will really matter.
another thing that will probably be taken into account is crowd choice. as long as that nomination is also consistantly top placing, that person might get a preference over another player that slightly does better tourney-wise.
what i really want to see is a variety…someone that can play sagat really well would be nice.
atm, i’m seeing…
crackfiend (rog)
ricky (chun/rog/ ??sagat??, haven’t seen him use sagat before, saw it listed next to his name once)
3.young legend (ryu/rufus?)
4.coopa (gief)
maybe andry? (prolly best cviper i seen so far)
that’d be a strong lineup with a good variety. but yet still a lot of time before the final decision.
ranking battles to determine who should be on da team would be a plausible solution. top 5 who accumulates the most points within the 2 months ( may-june) running up to EVO in july would be kool
