I just want to make a reminder: that the new tradition that we started last year where we DQ with the quickness, is still in FULL EFFECT this year. Obviously this pissed certain individuals off. Naturally, its the people that cant show up on time or be available for their match. But the majority was definitely pleased with how fast and efficient every game was ran. It takes a lot of stress off the tourney organizers, and the players. So this will be in effect. SO don’t get pissed if you are driving from another state and only allow yourself just enough time to make it to the tourney start time, then arrive after the tourney starts, and we don’t allow you to enter. ANTICIPATE traffic, this is common sense. We are not going to hold a tourney up for a couple of individuals and screw over 4835763854 other people by making them wait. They were responsible enough to show up on time, they shouldn’t be punished!
This is something that will be enforced to the fullest. I don’t care if you are the best player on the planet, you aint there on time, ggpo. Too many tourneys and organizers are too busy doing favors for buddies by holding up tourneys and what not, that it’s made a lot of players lazy and thinking they can ALWAYS get away with this bullshit. We are trying to stop this trend, cuz i’m sure everyone knows, it has been really out of hand in the tourney scene, for years with organizers playing favorites with certain individuals and allowing them to disappear for hours, and still not be DQ’d, or start a tournament 2 hours later cuz they are waiting on their 2 buddies. it’s silly =(
So I just want it to be known. Don’t get mad at us because of your irresponsiblity. We want to run efficient tourneys and make the players happy by ending them fast, so we can make more time to have fun with casuals,MM, etc…
I only get mad at that rule… when you’re waiting like forever but the director refuses to dq them because of their name. Like I waited about an hour to play (top cvs2 or something player, combo something or other) at SB3, in soul calibur 4. And they DQ’d him twice, and then I finally somehow played him.
yeah i dont let that slide, and neither does DREAMTR, its gotta be a really legitimate excuse. and i mean a really really good excuse. We wil lstill skip over a match if a player is not present, but once we cycle back to that match and it HAS to be played, then we start with DQ. Even if a friend says “he went to get food, he will be back in 5 minutes” We wil lgo “nope, he got 2 minutes, and thats it”
yep, I was dqed last year in 3s. hearing was going out so I couldn’t hear anything that weekend for like a month or two, actually my hearing is going out again now lol. Well I would have lost the first match in 3s probably anyway so no biggy for me.
If this is happening, a lot of us know you and would be happy to listen for you name, then come find you if we hear it to make sure you dont miss your matches. :lovin:
You know it’s bad when we DQ ShinjiGohan…he brings/helps with boards and stuff each year!
You guys aren’t old yet…hit me up when you are 32 or older =P
Sabre is right, I don’t care if your name is JustinCOMBOCHOIVALLEFIEND, you HAVE to be there when we call your name or GGPO. For the most part, everyone was pretty fast this year when it came to that…
Godlike post…no one should get any favors because of their name…I dont care who they are… they have to follow the same rules as everyone else paying…if not its unfair to the rest of the players…
so I agree 100%!!! (I took heat for starting my KOFXI tournament ontime at EVO…the top players decided to wake up late but hopefully that got the message across to them!)
Also still looks like The Raging Storm MidWest SNK Qualifier is still on guys…I’ll have one real busy week as I’ll be flying to Devastation the week after for my Phoenix Qualifier lol…
exactly, organizers keep allowing these people to be late with no punishment for doing so. it gives the playerthe mentality that they can do no worng and that the tourney world, revolves around them. that shit has got to change
EXACTLY…It puts them on a pedestal and fattens the egos that some of them already have…they need to be treated like everyone else…and know that being late for a tournament is simply unacceptable.
And yeah it was a hard sacrifice to make in regards to KOFXI for me…because the level of play in KOFXI suffered dramatically because of it…but hey I got my point across!!!
Hell I took heat in 98UM last year at EVO for deciding to give the championship to American RJ due to the fact that I had no other choice but to DQ Tokido and Arturo for not showing up to play Losers Finals…
So yeah these sacrifices need to be made…if not it also makes the tournaments run longer and not on time…because organizers you can tell have that slacking attitude like “Well you know tournaments always start late.”
Not mine dammit…I dont care who you are…when it starts it STARTS…
Hey man I didnt give you shit, I understand that a tourneys gotta keep moving, been around long enough to realize that it shouldnt be held up because of top player status. I’m just glad I got paid
I’ll run TvC, and i dont really care when Jason wants me to run it. I’ll have casuals up most of the weekend when room allows, as well, to hopefully get people who dont have access a chance to try it and grow the number of active players.
If can get the room to move everything down to the arcade, I may also have a fighting layer tournament. Depending on A) if I get an actual arcade board or B) zinc emulation gets more stable (has been rebooting my computer in the middle of some matches sometimes).
