Also about Japan-US rivalry. It’s not anti-Japanese. In fact, I think there’d be a bigger chance that any real nationalist tension would arise instead from Korean & Japanese players, but actually everyone was super respectful. Yeah, we cheer for our friends and most of those friends come from our respective countries. I was sitting between both groups of Japanese players and Korean players & their friends and each was cheering on their own players. That doesn’t mean we like one another any less or disrespect one another, we’re all hanging out there at the end of the day cheering. After the tournament we’re all drinking together and having fun. What goes on in tournament is just competition and it stays there for the most part.

Evo Moment #42 “Don’t be Afraid to Troll” - Juicebox vs. somebody in the semis on friday … Juice was about to get KO’d while playing Juri … he backdashed away and proceeded to fireball cancel about 8 times with Juri going “Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa!”… doing that he built just enough meter to get 2 stocks he then dashed forward and FADC’d a fireball into the ultra to win… fantastic
Evo Moment #99 “Best Match EVARRRR!” - Clockw0rk vs. Viscant in the MvC3 semis on saturday … both charged up 5 bars and both got knocked down to just pheonix … Viscant’s lost control first, with Clock right behind him… then they X-factored there was about 3 seconds of “FINE! FINE! FINE! YOU MAY DIE NOW!” zoning… the the match was over with Viscant winning
EVO Moment #118 “Poongko’s P” - Poongko totally running the table on Daigo in top 8… the Beast didnt ever get a round… against Seth… got perfected…
EVO Moment #46 “The Prodigy” Noah the Prodigy vs. anyone … anytime this kid was on stage playing everybody was going nuts … and he was winning… i dunno if it was underestimation by the older players, or if he was really that good, or if the crowd’s vocal favor played a big part… no matter what was up the kid was godlike
My favorite moment of gaming was when PR Rog reset the MVC3 bracket with the Tron comeback, shit was amazing.
Favorite non-gameplay moment has to be the epic troll from the event staff of making everyone turn around to look at something none of us could see in the front and didnt exist period just so they could switch out PS3s. Tricky tricky!
There are a lot of really good moments, so many so I cannot list them all. Evo 2k11 was amazing and I cant wait to go again next year.
