I sent an apply in order to be a judge in some fighting EVO tournaments last week. Is it closed the time?
No, you just weren’t picked. Sorry.
Don’t feel discouraged.
Its still possible for you to volunteer on the floor once you are at the event if there’s need for extra people.
Just keep your ears open for that mic.
Ok so Judging a previous year is not an auto in? They were desperate for people last year…why wouldnt they accept most of the applicants?
This is going to be the biggest Evo in history. They’ve never had this many people before. They probably had a major influx of judge requests.
There are many things to be taken into consideration.
For example, it could have been that you volunteered for a game that’s not being played on the shifts you marked as available.
If you still don’t understand, I guess you should try contacting the tournament director, and he might be able to explain things a bit better.
Even though you signed up and didn’t get an email yet you should still show up the Judges meeting on Thursday if you think you are qualified. The final schedule isn’t out yet so you may not get assignments until then. .
I signed up for nearly every game, and am available all weekend. I assumed it was because of the insane amount of attendees this year but I just found it rather un-professional to not in some way at least notify the applicants so they were not waiting in the balance. I am very happy I did not already reserve my hotel/flight because I would have been very upset. It is obviously too late to register for any games as a competitor and I am not going to spend all that it costs to get out there just for them to say, I am sorry we have all the judges we need and you don’t have spectator badge so have fun watching the finals in a room like you could have at home…All I am saying is an email would have been nice…
Also, I emailed Tony twice with no response…
There was plenty of time, and plenty of announcements in many different places about how important it was to sign up in time.
You have no excuse to not have a competitor’s pass if you really wanted to attend that badly.
With this in mind, remember this is a volunteer position, so it’s not unreasonable for the EVO staff to assume that applicants are going anyway. If you still want to miss on the biggest, baddest, and hypest FGC event of the year. That’s your own decision brother…
