--- Evo East: The East Coast Championships (May 25-27, 2007) ---

Hey I want to go check out the BYOC room tomorrow. The online registration is closed. Can I just drive on down there, pay my fee at the door and just play in the byoc room. I know its to late to register for tournaments but can i still just go to play casuals in the byoc room if I havent registerd yet?

you can still register for tourneys, just pay the emergency registration fee

I live more than an hour away so I wont be able to make the Noon emergency deadline for the tournaments. But can I still show up pay me fee tomorrw morning and play some casuals in the byoc room?

Does anyone know if there’s any time to play warmup/for fun matches on Saturday before each tournament?

yes you can, and i’m not sure but i think if you’re no entering any tournament if fro free, but you should check that

Well I’m entering SSBM to that shouldn’t be an issue. I just need to decide how early I should get there. If I can play friendlies at like any time leading up to the tournament I’ll get there really early. I can’t find this kind of information anywhere on the website either.

Can someone tell Shodokan123, EmptyJumpThrow etc to come meet me in the BYOC room around 1230 to 1 because I cant call them due to the fact that my cell has no service in the area…

If someone can spread the word I’d greatly appreciate it…
Thanks.

Hmm, no one answered before, so Ill ask again. I registered online a long time ago. Do I still have to arrive from 8 to 11 tomorrow to show it or is that for emergency registration only?

emergency only, if you have already registered you’re fine

ill be down their selling deodorant cause i realized that thats the best way to make money besides beating ppl in games ill have a special 2 sprays of axe for a dollar

Danbury representing this year, yeah you know it. Woop Woop! D-Block!

Hey I regret to inform you guys I will not be able to make it to this. But I want to wish good luck to each and every ST entrant this tournament. I’ll be heavily watching the results.

Definitely not making it out this time, but good luck to everyone!

This kind of ties into what I asked earlier, but is the BYOC room always open even when there’s tournaments going on?

I’m so excited, this is my first evo! I’m heading down tomorrow morning and I’ll try to enter 3rd strike and mvc2. I’m sad I can’t go today for cvs2

I love playing for the sake of playing and I love learning high level stuff, but I hope the pros and better players than me don’t shun me for sucking. I just hope to play the best matches with the best people I can.

Right now nothing is happening… and I’m thinking about entering vf5 couse there’s 14 entries and if you win one match you qualified… Lol

Don’t worry man, no one’s gona “shun” you. Unless you’re making fun of them or something to begin with lol. As long as you don’t claim be all great at games, no one’s gona make fun of your game. Just go and have fun, do your best and all will be well.

Well I’m actually already back from Evo (my ride had to leave early) and well…there’s drama already that’s all I can say. I left Sat night so I haven’t watched any of the finals. Obviously I would have stayed if I had qualified but obviously my game still needs some work. In 3S specifically I always have a problem of unnecessarily moving in on people when I have an advantage. I’m still not very good at letting people come to me and apparently it loses me matches that I really shouldn’t. It’s like I have a reflex to always jump or move towards the opponent. Heh.

Brackets were also randomly seeded so it was pretty likely that you would fight someone you’ve played before first match (which happened to me). My first match in losers’ was also someone who I’ve played regularly at tournies. IMO if you’re gonna win you’ll win no matter what but it’d be nice to have things seeded by region for next year I think.

Right now the only person from my region (MD/VA) that is qualified is Exodus (not surprisingly). Everyone else has been knocked out early. Quite a few Canadians come out and their skill in 3S shows. I guess getting to play regularly at an arcade with Japanese cabinets helps. They definitely know what they’re doing and lost lots of money to them.

Well…good luck to everyone in finals and see peepz at Vegas.

That’s still a big problem I face too. Especially when I play as Ibuki as well, so I feel you on that. Just consciously address it even when you play casuals and you’ll be able to refrain come tourney time. You got plenty of time before EVO world to get that under controll too.

Just got back from East a couple hours ago. CvS2 finals were the best conclusion to East that possibly could have been, so I think I left at the perfect time. J-Wong brought the shit hard but Nestor overcame the odds.

DevilJin - I saw you stomping everyone every time I walked by, haha. Quite frankly I was too intimidated to bother you for a match. My Ken was real solid in the hotel rooms but when it came to the BYOC area I couldn’t put it together. Shit was weak. I wish I had challenged you anyway just so I could say I played a sick Ibuki. Anyway don’t sell yourself short.

Those Canadian players brought the shit so hard. Aneurysm X was all business the whole time. My buddy and I started calling him Stoneface during the finals because he wasn’t shaken by anything. Paul Wall got the crowd going with his Akuma and I look through all the arms in the air and Stoneface sat, completely unimpressed. Not to mention his Dudley was unreal and was stealing free money from a ton of people. Pretty much awesome. Also his Canadian counterpart came closer to beating Justin Wong in Third Strike than anyone else I saw the whole weekend in an awesome match on Saturday.

The real story, however, is my man Hold Dat taking third place in 3s with his pad Ken, giving hope to pad users such as myself. Good shit (Anyone else see that shit he pulled on Exodus’ Genei-Jin? Awesome). One of the coolest dudes I met all weekend.

Dark Geese - This dude travels all over the damn place just to showcase SNK games. This dude loves SNK to death. Not to mention that on Day 3 when everyone else was beat to shit, the guy had more energy than I did on Day 1. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to stop by and see all the SNK games but I couldn’t drag myself away from the CvS2 finals.

Long story short, EVO East kicked fucking ass, and I hope you all had as much fun as I did.
