co-sign be happy you fuckin have one
Piss off with that. I have a right to complain, ok?
That “At least you have one” arguement doesn’t hold, especially what I was complaing about. I’m still going to it, but I think everyone has a right to be pissed. It’s one thing to announce the tournament as late as they already did. But to say NY one month, then CT the next? I had to cancel my plans because it’s more out of my way than it was before. It’s bullshit. Why did they change it? and is an apology really out of the question?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we’re even having a qualifier(I don’t even know why I have to SAY this again; if you’ve read my posts before, I’m happy to begin with). But this sudden change puts a damper on many people’s plans.
You people are whiny bitches.
Ever since people have been travelling for games, NY players have been spoiled. With all the events and things that have taken place in NYC, especially Chinatown, you guys were always at the center of competition and action for the East Coast. The only exception to this was ECC and other events at the Break, but even then, you have a pretty short drive or train ride compared to others.
Stamford, CT is NOT far from New York at all, in fact it’s less than an hour’s drive. Since there’s a train station right next to the hotel, it should not be a transportation problem for anyone who wants to make it to this qualifier.
Sometimes, the best laid plans go sour. SRK staff probably waited too long to try to secure something in NYC so they went with Stamford. Yes, they DID say the qualifier would be in NY, but sometimes things don’t work out the way they’re planned to go down. Moving a half hour’s distance away from the proposed tournament site should not throw off anybody’s plans.
Bottom line is, if you’re complaining about this, you are spoiled. You are so used to having events in your backyard that you are complaining about a tiny move. Maybe you shouldn’t make plans before anything is announced? That’s why I was so desperate to have SRK announce this info, so we can all plan around it. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to attend the qualifier, and as everybody has said you SHOULD be happy that the EC is getting anything.
Whatever man. Not everyone is able to attend out of state shit at all, so it’s hard enough to plan around shit that constantly fluctuates.
And it takes me 4 hours to get to Stamford from where I live with PT. Add that shit up. Not everyone has 8 hours out of a day to spend just 2 hours playing.
I don’t want to hear people with cars talking about how spoiled I am.
To clarify, if it were announced elswhere but NY earlier, I wouldn’t have a problem, but since my job is anal as fuck about what time I can take off and what I can’t, my chances of making it are narrowed down considerably unless I get a ride from someone. You can say that this is the stigma of Evo, but I don’t remember when Evo staff planned for one location, and changed it a month and a half away.
Worst of all, Evo Vegas isn’t even announced yet, and it’s already June!
I just mapquested this. Its ridiculously close to NY. 34 miles from my door to the Location and I’m in Queens. So that means its even closer to all you BX/Manhattan heads.
It’s 54 miles from me. Not a big deal, if I can get off from work sunday, and/or a ride.
anyone else find it funny those words coming out of DSPs mouth?
pot calling kettle black aka one hundred other analogies
30 minute fucking drive
fucking whiners
IF iw anted to go to evo west it would be a 3 hour drive
yeah, great, 'cept I don’t have a fucking car.
Here’s some solutions:
- Take the bus
- Take the train.
- Don’t like it? Don’t go.
I really don’t understand what it is with Staten Island people. I’ve lived out here for 5 years(originally raised in MA, born in Brooklyn though), and you’re all the fuckin same whiny Staten Island cunts that are either hot topic slit my wrist whores, or whiny rich cunts that are disgusted by the bus and rub daddys nuts on their face for money. Seriously, the majority of the island is on some form of medication and the other half has been in institutions, since there are alot of them on the island.
I don’t get what it is. Just seriously get out of 3rd grade and grow a pair.
Metro North website says its only a 60 minute ride from Grand Central. Not bad at all.
<— Spoiled as goddam fucking hell…
-McFly
Weee finally something good happening in Stamford. About fucking time. I live 15 mins walking distance from this place =D
Where’re YOU from? South Shore? Give me a fucking break. You talk like someone who hasn’t held down a job for more than 5 days.
I don’t like it, but I’m going anyway, because I want to. You faggot SRKs don’t seem to understand that not everyone has 4-5 hours available to them to commute. You also don’t seem to understand that this shit was announced for NY first. I’m not upset about it anymore as much as I’m annoyed by you twits who think it’s wrong for me to feel this way.
“Spoiled”? Yeah, right. Cuz it’s not considered spoiled to get money from your parents, taking their hand-me-down car. You faggots have some nerve putting up airs.
I’m dropping it if someone doesn’t bring it up again. I’m tired of fucking nut-huggers thinking I owe the community 1 hour of gaming and 5 hours of travelling.
Well, that’s better than taking four hours. I can deal with that.
EDIT:
Just so everyone knows, I play GGXX/. NO ONE outside Brooklyn and the far out reaches of Queens plays this game. I was really hoping to have a place for GG close to home for a change.
I’m contemplating whether or not to go. I’m probably going to Evo regardless so going to the EC qualifier would just simply be a good practice run. Depends on how much it’s going to cost to get down there from Maryland and if I can get hotel stay and all that good stuff. If I do go to this I might have to bail out on going to a few other tournaments cuz it would start to get pretty expensive even for me to go out to all of these things.
Plus I’d have to ask for 2 days off to go and the next I’d be working again for sure unless I could ask someone to fill my Saturday spot. I’m already participating at 2 other local tournaments that are giving away a free ticket to Evo so I dunno. Too much stuff to think about at once. Get some practice against top players at Evo East quals or strive for free tickets to Evo? Hmmm…
Half hour from me.
Score.
- Nope, not from the south shore. I’m from Willowbrook instead.
- I don’t have a car either, and i’m not bitching.
- It’s not that you can’t argue or be upset, its the point that you keep bitching about it, post, after post, after post.
- And yeah, SI people love to bitch. Look around the island more. Anyone who was raised on the island and is like 23 and younger is a diehard whiny, ask daddy to buy me everything crybaby.
- Well…ok, then. There go my hardcore insults.
And fuck, you’re not very far from me. You near Victory Blvd? - I normally don’t have problems with going up to connecticut, but my job does. Thankfully, I can actually plan around this, but my boss gets anal about me taking a day from work because it means HE has to come in.
- I would stop, but people didn’t seem to understand. I’m pretty sure it’s clear by now, so I’ll stop bitching.
- I can’t argue with that, cuz I see that everyday too. I hate Staten Island.
Will the tournament times be announced soon?
Yeah, like a block away from CSI. I already kind of know who you are. Umm…long story. But its right if you heard MY side of the story of what happened. PM me.
EDIT: nvm, i’ll just IM you. lol
That his problem. You have a right to vacation days.
So will this just be qualifiers or will there be free play?
Might have been able to pull some strings at Hofstra to get space there if you guys had trouble getting a place in NY. Hofstra has an arcade room (bunch of tv’s and arcade machines) and a bunch of smaller rooms equipped with computers and high def projectors that systems could be hooked up to. We used them for our small game convetion that we had a couple months back…
Since I work for Resnet for Hofstra I could have gotten it cleared with event management to get a bunch of rooms with tv’s and projectors as well as the game room for the event :wgrin:. Dunno if Long Island is farther than CT for some people tho . But because its during the Summer its very easy to reserve multiple rooms for events and get access to the 50ft projector in one of the auditoriums to play video games on.
