Actually, CRT HDTVs still lag on 480i material, just not as badly as other technologies tend to. Check the Q&A section of my FAQ if you have time :slight_smile:

I’ve read it and I must say I’ve never experienced lag playing any game on my PS2. Alpah Anthology and 3S work great. <3 Samsung. I think I actually made a post about how my TV doesn’t really lag in that same thread.

Sorry to hear about the tournament, though. It just seems like poor research to me.

I CHALLENGE ANYONE IN LAGFIGHTER III. LETS DISCUSS THE TIER IMPLICATIONS OF A 10 FRAME LAG. I THINK SEAN WILL OWN ALL DUE TO HIS EX HURRICANE KICK-> EX UPPERCUT MIXUP CANCELLED INTO SUPER MIXUP BEING UNSTOPPABLE.

We’re stuck under the GW Bridge merging 16 lanes of traffic into what appears to be one toll booth. We’ve been travelling for over 12 hours now due to cars breaking down/traffic/Moose having to shit/etc. We’re bored, tired, and cranky, and now we hear about laggy TVs and people saying this is going to suck? We’ve invested too much time and effort into getting to this place so it better not suck.

Seriously, it’s 1 AM and we’re stuck in traffic.

EVO EAST WILL HAVE CRT TVS FOR THE TOURNAMENT

Three things:

  1. We originally tested for lag on one of the TVs, and saw no perceptible lag. We were pulling crazy Chun Li links and combos in CvS2 with no problems. No perceptible lag at all.

  2. When the players reported lag tonight, we immediately researched the problem, trying every different TV setting we could think of to eliminate it. This has been unsuccessful so, we are sending a truck RIGHT NOW to BUY 20 CRT TVs for the tournament, which will be installed by 9:00 TOMORROW in time for the first tournament. I have no idea why we did not pick this up in our initial testing, but it’s not important. As always, the integrity of the tournament is our top priority and we will do WHATEVER it takes to preserve it.

  3. The fact that fubarduck practically ran out of the Evo hall to post this without so much as talking to any of the Evo staff shows how little integrity he has.

EDIT: Disregard my above post, but i dunno about questioning the guys integrity. I don’t think it was unreasonable of him to post what he did or be pissed. Plus from what DSP posted it didn’t seem like anything was going to get done about it.

We are going old school tvs, where lag won’t be a issue. Everything will be perfect by 9am Saturday morning.

A CRT is a big heavy tube tv, as opposed to a LCD or plasma which are lighter and thinner, i guess thats the most obvious difference.

Either way, the new tv’s will be normal, not lcd, not hd, so everything should be ok.

Man, the banning on Fubarduck wasn’t called for. The man was just a bit upset about the conditions and jumped the gun a bit. An honest mistake but I doubt this stopped anyone from actually coming to EVO East.
