Ok there has been a lot of discussion about footages posted online… Cannon’s saying that if people starts putting up footages then either there wont be another evo… which kinda sux… or that next year they wont allow camera at their events…
well i think this would be a simple solution thats would make everyone happy…
What will be on the DVD?
if the whole dvd will consist of just the final 8 of each tourney then… whats the big deal in posting vids that were not part of the final 8…
People will still buy the DVD cause the final 8 wont be distributed… and by having footages online it will just hype people to want to buy the DVD…
If the Cannon’s plan on putting up Japanese player and Justin vs XX
then forbid those matches… NO JAPANESE FOOTAGES OR MATCHES INVOLVING JUSTIN WONG IN MVC2
but give people something…
Hella people could not make it… because of lack of money or couldnt get time off of work… and they want something… Cannons should set some boundaries other than NO FOOTAGES to at least give some people a taste of what went on at EVO 2K3
I’m sure the cannons want to keep their options open right now. They have no idea what’s going to be on the dvd.
they have footage from the finals as well as the qualifying/semi final rounds and I’m sure they’ll include these in the DVD.
Since the DVD is in pre-production right now, it’s unknown as to which matches they are gonna put on the dvd so it’s better to be on the safe side and just wait till the DVD comes out and then put up matches that are not on the DVD.
They have allowed this in the past (downloading of matches not found on the b4 tapes or b5/evo2k2 dvds) and i’m sure they won’t have any problem with it this year.
Ripping matches from the DVD takes away from sales and there are still servers on direct connect who have matches from the evo2k2 dvd.
Im not expecting the Cannons to know every single matches thats gonna be on the DVD… but Im sure they are going to have a general idea on what they want…

those seem to have gotten the crowed all railed up… and if the Cannon’s plan on putting those vids on the DVD then hey thats cool… those vids should be forbidden…
but lets say Unknown Player one vs. BAS in CvS2 which Im sure isnt going to be on the DVD just cause there were so many good matches that this beat down wont be on it… why cant vids like those vids be allowed to be online…
it might not be a great video… but it sure is something to those that didnt attened to say… wow thats cool… i wonder what the final 8 looked like…
I dunno … i just feel telling everyone NO videos is too extreme in a situation like this… this is the event of the year for the fighting game world… and not to allow any footage until the dvd comes out… is kinda extreme…

Cannons are right you know! If basically 90% of the DVD is in the net then… wut is the point of the DVD being released when nobody buys it. If all the hardcore players get access to the vids they wont buy the DVD. No DVD profits = no evo2k4.
The cannons might be hardcore, but you can go UNDER only so far finacially until you realize that…

I agree with the idea that certain matches not be posted… I think srk.com should make some kind of profit from the event since they hosted it…
ie matches like… ALL Final 8 … ALL 5 on 5… etc…
I think regardless what matches are posted online as long as those particular that made Evo2k3 awsome… are not posted people will still buy the DVD…
I think u guys are thinking that this is gonna be like a 90+ hrs DVD… with all the matches of all the pre-lims, semi, and finals…

Most likely the DVD’s will consist of Final 8 of all the Games… All the 5 on 5 matches… and probably some of the really cool prelim matches ie… Ricky vs Ohnuki CvS2… Ricky vs Daigo 3s… Viscant vs Ohnuki CvS2… etc etc…
thats it… if we’re lucky… again whats the big deal if someone wants to post John Doe vs Justin or John Doe vs Daigo… those matches are almost certainly not gonna be part of the DVD and Im sure by having those vids online isnt going to hurt the sale of DVD’s from srk.com… in fact i think its just gonna increase the demand for the dvd…
Or the Row vs Ino match of Quals? I dont’ think that would be included unless otherwise stated. Or any matches againts the japanese, unless otherwise stated. He’s actually asking what’s the content and what it would have in it. Reason why it’s cause someone out there might upload say, the match between Kevin Turner of TX (Shin Kensou) againts Daniel R. (Chobo ruin-) unless you guys also say that this match is included or maybe the Fubarduck TigerSuh JK match. Tons of matches that went on and on during the tourney, how many were captured? I don’t know, how many will they include? I don’t know. It’s really hard to actually say what they’ll include. All Rob is saying is this, if they actually say what the content is, the full content of the DvD, then people would know what they can upload and what they can’t upload simple as that. Right?

P.S. To the Cannon’s mad props for you guys and also the rest of the crew and the sites that held this major tourney in the US soil. And I don’t mind if the Cannon’s wanna make profit off of the dvd, but as long as we know what is included i don’t think any harm is done when we upload some that’s not even included.
Shameless plugs are dope! Hehehe. But, really. I hope this year SRK gets the DVD done right. And, I just dont mean using direct-footage. I mean, why not combine what was done on the B4 vhs, and B5 DVD. They had player commentary, some player intros…things like that. Things that would make those that didnt get to go to EVO, make them feel like they were there. Also, why should they limit the amount of footage to just 1-2 dvds. I say, they produce a multi-dvd(more than 2) evo dvd, and have the games separated. This way, all matches…not just final 8 and some special chosen matches, get to make it. I mean, how many mag/storm/sent/cable/aaa teams do we need to see? Variety is good. Just charge people the extra amount. Simple as that. IIRC, last years DVD was about $35. Why not make this one $45 and add an extra dvd. Or, better yet, make it so each game has their own dvd. have it like this:
EVO DVD 1-ST… includes casual, tourny, semis, and finals matches. Also includes player commentary and player introductions
EVO DVD 2-MVC2…same as above
EVO DVD 3-CVS2…same as above
etc.
Just my thought. I know that if I knew there were more than just the top tier characters that were going to be shown, Id pay the extra $$ for the dvd.
The duplicators i know about work by charging per DVD. So adding a 3rd/4th DVD is the same cost as printing a whole new set of DVDs. On the other hand people aren’t going to pay a whole lot more for it, especially when not everyone wants to look at every game, so they have to weigh the cost of duplication, with the number of DVDs expected to sell, how much they need to make etc…
I guess the question is does SRK have the rights to the entire EVO DVD, or is it split between the various sites, because that will affect how the DVD is put together i guess.
Cannons never said “NO vids at all”. People needs to be considerate and not post EVERYTHING in MiRC. God knows some idiot will…As for me I am waiting for the DVD. Which I hope the cannons are working night and day to release ASAP. Am I right…
Anyways I am getting the DVD for 3D games too. TTT might be shtye to you guys but its damn diamond to my eyes…
yeah i mean some people should be able to get some of thier home players matches out like random footage of random place in mississippi(sp?) vs random place in arkansas from the pools so people can let their good players be known and show that they arent just some backwater place or whatever
