Why are people on JR so much? He’s already played gootecks and won. He’s already proven himself. No one wants to admit it, but he’s clearly the best Akuma in the US right now. This whole thing will turn into an endless cycle with people not being satisfied with the list of names of the people he’s beaten.

Jrod has beaten many people, but because he doesn’t respond to people harassing him for matches online or off makes him a bad player? He probably doesn’t want to waste his time or whatever reason he has.
Also just because he doesn’t respond to requests to play online doesn’t mean he’s ducking. I very very rarely accept game requests from randoms on xbl, and when I don’t I get nasty messages sent my way. It’s like some people can’t take a loss. He prob does the same thing and ignores people. I could only imagine all the hate mail he gets. I say just play him in tournament and beat him.
When are Ryan and JR going to play in the same tournament in the future? Seems unlikely to happen

he does the same in SSF4AE sonyono, smug and other high lvl players challenged him, he run away dodged all these FT5 sets YET keep playing and uploading sets vs beginners in SSF4AE

I don’t think there’s 50 better US players than JR. Like I’ve played them both a fair amount of (online only*) games and there’s no question in my mind that Ryan’s a lot better, but let’s not get dramatic lol.
the obsession with jr is pretty weird imo.
i get everyone white knighting for 3S. protecting its virtue and such. everyone who has played the game a while probably feels like that sometimes.
but hey if people watch his videos maybe they find their way to the shend or deemo’s channel and see some sweet east/west wars and stuff. people have to be exposed to the game somehow. sure it isn’t our ideal method of evangelizing but it’s something. which is the only way the game can continue.

I beat JR’s akuma with my akuma a bunch of times at Japan Arcade back when it was open. Does that make me the best akuma in the US? I also beat him plenty of times with my Denjin Ryu who is probably the worst of my 3 mains. Here are U.S. akumas I know of that are better than JR:

He plays the game like a robot and pretty much every Socal player that kept playing seriously past 08/09 is way better than him. Gootecks was not one of those people and his money match against JR doesn’t prove anything, except that Gootecks lost his touch in 3s.
