I don’t see PSAS making it in. Chances are that SFxT will make it back into the lineup with Capcom still giving it support.
Injustice or P4A (not both) is also possible, though I don’t know if Evo wants to do six games again.
If I had to predict six games, I would opt for these:
SF4AE
UMVC3
TTT2
Injustice / MK
SFXT (If it really is still supported)
KOFXIII (Running on the raw hype from last year)
If EVO wants to trim it down to 5 games, I can see either of the last two getting the boot.
Next to nothing? It had close to 60 entrants at NEC (if I remember correctly someone working there told me it was 57). How is that next to nothing? And what key members have been moving on to other things? The top players all still play KOF. I don’t know what your beef is with KOF but… cut that shizz out. My guess for what the games would be are (assuming it’s six again):
- SSF4AE (b/c it’s sf)
- UMVC3 (b/c it’s still huge. Who knows, might even be the main game)
- TTT2 (b/c it makes sense to have at least 1 3-D game, and this is the biggest one at the moment)
- KOF XIII (b/c our numbers are next to nothing and our key members have moved on to other things)
- Injustice or MK (b/c there’s a dedicated community that will always show up for MK. I’m curious to see what happens when Injustice comes out. Will the community split? Will they play both? Will they ignore Injustice? I don’t keep up with this community so I don’t know how they feel about Injustice)
- Persona 4 (MK/Injustice will cover the MK crowd, TTT2 covers the 3D crowd, so it makes sense for P4 to cover the anime crowd. Not to mention it had over 100 entrants at NEC).
I honestly don’t know what to make of sfxtekken. I thought the game was toast after EVO, but Capcom refuses to let it fall and it seems to be working somewhat as people seem willing to give it a shot after the 2013 update (including me). Not to mention the amount of money that can be won (all the money Capcom is throwing at it) with the anniversary tournament that just passed and the upcoming IPL tournaments. Who knows, if the game were to really get some momentum going with positive feedback and tournament results, it might knock one of the games I listed out (specifically one of the games I listed at 4, 5, and 6). Though I will say, I think the games I listed would make for a well rounded EVO.
Edit: The reason I didn’t list Sony All Stars was because I haven’t really seen it in any tournaments. I didn’t see it at NEC. Is there a dedicated community for it yet? Not to mention, Smash always had a big community but… was it ever at EVO? Serious question, because I don’t know. I don’t recall it being at any EVO’s. It helps that Sony All Stars has some fgc people who worked on it, like Seth Killian, so that might help. So far the game doesn’t seem to have any momentum that would indicate that it’s going to be at EVO.
I have no issues with KOF XIII. I think it and MK9 are the best fighting games out there right now. But EVO doesn’t care about 60-80 people. They want 100’s.
Also, local tournaments or whatever have no input or impact on what EVO will have in its line up.
Coming from being at 3 EVO’s, you ca figure out what’s going to be there and what won’t. As much as I love KOFXIII and would love to see it in the line up, I don’t see it happening.
DOA5, a game which no one thinks has a chance of getting into the EVO lineup next year, had 58 entrants. I am not suggesting that DOA5 should be in the EVO lineup ahead of KOFXIII but 57 isn’t exactly a terrific number for a tournament the scale of NEC, nor is it a number that suggests KOFXIII is guaranteed of a place in the EVO lineup.

I wouldn’t mind seeing it. I just haven’t look at any attendance numbers at tournaments. I wouldn’t be surprised though, from what I’ve seen (haven’t had a chance to play it) it seems really good.

Nah, P4 will make it. The companies behind the game haven’t been sitting on their thumbs and the numbers have always been quite high.
Unless there’s some massive bullshit politics going on behind the next EVO it would be rather criminal to not include P4, I really don’t see it dying down anytime soon, quite the opposite.
I’m 99% certain that there will be only 5 games. Yall should make your lists accordingly too.

The patch for SFxT comes out late January, so unless the EVO co-ordinators are going to do what they did last year and just put it in based off the name, which is doubtful, I do not see it being there (unless Capcom puts money up for it, that is).

Those are probably all but confirmed titles at that point. Mortal Kombat is slowly fading, Injustice has yet to prove anything and the anime games were never really respected by EVO anyway so it’s a toss up if they add more than these 5.

Nothing against KOF13/MK/BBCP, but I hope SFxT gets another shot with a proper format(and if it doesn’t, then they should make TTT2 have to be played with pairs, and see how that goes down with entries)
SFxT update looks very promising, IPL has picked it up as one of their main games, and Ono announced a Capcom 30th Anniversary tournament, so the game is going to have some guaranteed tourney life going forward, haters be damned.
I dunno what’s up with Tekken x Street Fighter, but if it finally becomes a tangible reality, SFxT and TxSF would be a pretty wild pairing down the road.
