EVO 2012 lineup AKA what will be the biggest games a year from now?

My predictions:
SFIVAERB
SFxTekken
UMvC3
BBCSII+
MK9
SCV

My semi-realistic dreams:
SFIVAERB
SFxTekken
UMvC3
BBCSII+
Skullgirls
KOFXIII
3SOE

Not happening ultimate dream:
ST
MvC2
3SOE
GGXXAC
Skullgirls
KoFXIII
VF5FS

HDR did really well at EVO, and then “kind of okay” outside of that. Not to say that I believe it deserved to be dropped from the lineup this year (I’m actually rather upset about that), but it’s just not a comparable situation to the one with AE 2012, which will undoubtedly continue to enjoy strong, strong support at non-EVO majors in and outside of North America.

when KoF13 finally comes out on console, all infidels shall repent and see the light. ATONE FOR YOUR SINS! THE SECOND COMING IS UPON US!!!

My predictions:
UMvC3
SF4AE
SFxT
KOF13
Tekken Tag 2
Skullgirls

My troll predictions:
SFHDR
The next Smash Bros.
Destrega

EDIT: How could I forget Skullgirls?

WOW… For once I actually agree with you…

SCV is guaranteed because Namco and other reasons, but mainly Namco.

Namco didn’t show off SCV @ Evo for no reason…

Yeah man… you can really compare that to SFIV which has had 1700 entrants in Evo2010 and than 1500 entrants in Evo2011. You would have to be stupid to drop this game especially when by Evo 2012 the current version will only be 8-9 months old. (hey maybe even less if enough people whine on Ono’s twitter about whoever is top tier in AE2K12).’

If SFxT completely takes over from SFIV it won’t happen in the space of a few months… Evo 2012 might be SFIV’s last hurray as a main game and every year it has been played would’ve been a different revision.

On which console will they play?

At the moment I got a PS3 and Im about to buy a fight stick for PS3.

So I hope they dont do tourney on the 360 =S

I don’t see the appeal of SkullGirls, the aesthetics are way too jarring for people like me to get into it.

If SFxT becomes successful, it might see play at Evo for a while.

As for the rest, MK9 and Kof13 have pretty dedicated communities which don’t really need Evo to thrive.

Same goes for the Tekken community, which IMO has way more mainstream pull than any 2d fighter out right now.

PS3. You’re safe.

the comments for mkare awesome. But who knows how long we will have to wait for mk10. Hell, MK10 could be out at evo 2013 and Skullgirls/BB(love both games) could get denied. I mean all the anime fans won’t mind. Yuo get to see a cartoony fighter with blood. You can’t beat that. I hope SFXT flops at EVO. I feel like an ass for saying. I’m now getting the game because I got a character like Pac-man.

P.S.

Why is SFXT on the EVo line up? It comes out TWO months before EVO. Who is going to be godlike at that game(besides poognko) in america? I mean it will be fill with guys that just got into the game at their local scene, some of the top US players, and Japan’s finest too.

Because SFxT is a hype game…like it or hate it.
This isn’t the first time the Evo staff put a fighting game in the Evo lineup before it was released.

Well the first part of your comment is true. And you have a point. You hype for it? I just want it for Pac-man.

Hell this year we have 2 unreleased titles. Soul Calibur V and SFxT.

SFxT is being released March 6 in US. Evo 2012 is July 6-8. So it’s more like 4 months before EVO. That’s enough to develop a decent level of metagame.

Predictions for next years EVO will be:

  • TTT2
  • STxT
  • KOF XIII
  • UMVC3
  • BBCSII+
  • SVC

Optional Choices:

  • SSFIVAE2012
  • MK9

Wild Cards:

  • Skull Girls
  • MVC2
  • SFHDR
  • SFIII3SOE
  • Any other fighting game that turns out to be tournament worthy

Isn’t that Persona fighting game out later this year? I would think the chances of it being in EVO2013 is much higher than the chances of BB making a comeback.

Oh that. I guess my post was inaccurate. Not enough research on my part - I never actually played Persona, nor do I have any experience in doing so. After this, I doubt if BB is going to make any real comeback.
