Evo 2012 and Beyond - 3 Days or 4 Days?

more EVO, more fun :lovin:

4 days and I need more time off work. Maybe if the buy in 30 and top 32 got payed out. But I think 7th in ae got paid most likely less then airfare. There needs to be more upside if I’m going to take that much time off work.

You guys really think 3SOE will be a main event? They might have a side tourney or something but cmon guys 3S is dead. It had a great run, it had its time in the spotlight, but its done.

Make it 4 days and bring back GGXXAC as a main game :razzy:

Next year SSF4AE, MK9, BBCS2+, UMVC3, TTT2, SC5, SFXT, KOF13, 3s, HDR, and Skullgirls are all viable options. I understand that not all of them will get on the roster, but to try to cut down to a list that will fit in three days is kind of ridiculous.

does that mean alpha should get in on 20th anniversary?

EVO is only once a year, people should go all out for the best tournament in north america :3

4 Days only if theres more games:

-SSFIVAE 2012
-UMvC3
-SxT
-SC V
-TTT2
-Skullgirls
-Blaz Blue
-MK9
-SF III 3SO
-KOF XIII

Lots of games… Yeah, make it 4…

I already started saving for next year’s evo. For me, it will be as much as a holiday as it will be a tournament (I’ll probably be there at least a week). So knowing that I’ll be there for longer than evo lasts anyway an extra day is an added bonus.

Considering the extra day to request off of work, extra day for hotel/travel/food and etc… 4 days would be pushing it to most of us. Like Sabre said, quite a few people leave Evo on Sunday so they can get to work or school on Monday… and they have to be sober! I drove this year and had to request additional days for travel since I wasn’t flying. I didn’t fly because it was cheaper carpooling.

I wouldn’t mind however, if it were made a 4 day event because there are a lot of new fighters coming out in 2012 so these new games will need their time in the schedule so they can be ran. SSFIVAE2012, UMvC3, TTT2, SFxT, 3SO, Skullgirls, MK, SCV, and perhaps UFC. This would also allow for more people to attend panels. So Panels on Thursday along with playtesting betas.

My suggestion would be to do the Evo Qualifiers again… then take the most popular games and go from there. Drop the unpopular games to save time and run those as a side tourney (because you know someone out there will)

I voted for 4 days because it seemed like a lot of people showed up on Thursday anyways. Even if the actual tournament wasn’t held on Thursday night it would still be cool to have some kind of Evo gatherings and casuals on Thursday in the ballroom.

just sayin… but if they put the finals on monday instead of sunday it makes for a cheap thurs to tuesday flight… which are pretty much some of the cheapest days to fly. You miss the same number of days from work, but you save way more money

this would be the best way to add a 4th day IMO

Hmm… :coffee: You made a good point there, Vegaman.

Same 3 day schedule if the same format stays. Make it 4 if you add more games, panels, previews, etc.

3 days is best from a logistics standpoint. I’ve helped plan conventions and worked in the exposition industry and the last day is almost always a bust. Side tourneys, and multiple stage/streams are the way to go to include more games in the lineup. An extra day may not yield enough people to be worth it economically.

There’s a lot of good games out there, I wouldn’t mind a 4 day event if it allowed for more of the Non-Capcom games to be part of EVO.

I’d suggest keeping it 3 days. I look at it from the perspective of someone who works full time. 4 days would outright necessitate taking vacation time from work rather than getting a day (possibly 2) off. While I’m sure many people go for a week, it shouldn’t be forced upon them.

I really hope the stream monsters aren’t clogging up the poll. On topic, 3.5 days is a good enough.

I’ve voted for four days on the assumption that the fourth day is to allow for all the new fighting games to get some time in the spotlight too. People have mentioned KoF, Skullgirls, etc.; I want to see them get some time too.

If this is not the case, then three days of Evo is plenty for me.

A four day EVO isn’t a bad idea. Not only would it add more games, more time for me to level up with world wide competition at BYOC, roam the spec booths, test out beta’s, not to mention an extra day in Vegas to party etc.

I wouldn’t know how finals would go though assuming more games get added. I in no way condone community videos get dropped for more time for finals. I think those are one of the best things about evo.

I work as well and requested Thur-Sun off and had to work Monday. (Ended up calling in since I wasn’t sober and had a huge hangover). I personally would want a four day EVO, it only happens ONCE a year and I dont mind taking 4-6 days off out of 365 a year for a 4 day EVO event in Las Vegas.
