So basically 5 dudes are going to play? Pretty underhwelming. I would assume they’re going with high level but that could mean anything. JWong, Ricky, and Daigo haven’t played in years and are anything but high level in 3S.

I’ve seen Justin play in 3 different 3s tourneys this year and I’m sure he has been in other ones I’m not aware of. He was actually looking really solid, but he’s probably not as good as he used to be.
Solid is an ssf4 scrub cop out. In 3s, you’re either amazing or you go home.

I dont even care about the character variety in real tournaments, but that exhibition will get stale fast to someone whos curious about the game and wants to see all the thrills of 3s. Throw in a dudley, Makoto or Urien and I’d say you’ve got a good exhibition.Those characters just are a far better example of the unique stuff in 3rd Strike.Problem is, no good players for those characters remain who are also going to EVO I think. I think theres still a few good dudley players left the states arent there?

just proves that if we really want 3s to experience some sort of rebirth we cannot wait for EVO or the other big major tournaments to spotlight it for us. shoutouts to croyd and the others making their tutorial vidoes. Now all of our regions need to start playing when OE drops.
We really, realy need to come up with a 3S centered tourney for the US where EC, WC, Midwest players can come thru and batte it out for the game we love. maybe one weekend (two day event) with a singles, team tourney, maybe region vs region type thing etc…
lol 3s players care about tournaments too much, there isn’t any money in it, why do you want to win something so much? To get your name splattered on the front page? Get your name out there? BE A SOMEBODY? The game is so old it’s not going to get huge cash prizes, play for fun, level up for you and play sets with good players and learn like that.
i’m not worried about the characters, but i agree in that this exhibition is probably a different thing than what most people thought. if they wanted a competitive event where top players show their work, they’d throw a tournament. this thing is supposed to build hype for OE, which is having a panel where some of the staff talk about the development process. they chat about the game, some players give the spectators a taste, bam, people have seen enough to drop 15 bucks.
the best players don’t even need to be in this. there will be tournaments in the future for that run by people who actually like the game (read: not evo). the players who need to be in this are the ones who can sell people the game. from evo’s perspective, that’s most likely daigo and justin regardless of how they’ll play, and probably some bystanders to lay down for them. and that doesn’t bother me one bit as long as more people buy 3rd strike.
the evolution staff wants to put the famou$ names. daigo, justin, they might even put ultradavid in there since the sf4 crew looks up to him so much.
they dont care about 3rd strike. im glad they gave us details now so i can save money and stay home.

I was just stating the most likely scenario. We may know that these aren’t the best candidates but it really doesn’t matter. SRK is a business now. It was a community but now it’s a business with a following.
So expect this and nothing more. We might get momochi in but as far as Ryan, Yi, Pyro, and MOV…well I guess if the world is fair. lol. Renic might make it in, though.
