Evo 2010 Game Announced Live on SRK Podcast @ 7PM PST!

… yet somehow you found time to write up two separate long ass posts complaining about the game without actually listing any reasons why.
:looney::crybaby:

I was in there talking to Watson, along with DGV and a few others. It was a lot of fun. Anyway, his complaints about the game seem pretty consistent with other OG players I’ve talked to. From most people I’ve talked to it generally seems to be a combo of them not liking some changes that were/weren’t made and that there are some new minor quirks in the game.

I really applaud Watson for saying what most OG players seldom say though, and what I think is actually the main reason that hardcore OG players don’t like HDR. And that is this:

I think when they quit taking it seriously varies. Some probably quit practicing ST long ago and just played that for fun. Some probably didn’t like the changes to HDR, figured it’d be another AE thing, and either quit playing then or just kept playing ST. And some, like Valle, did play HDR a bit when it first came out but then mostly quit playing when SF4 came out.

For these guys, I think the experience pretty much goes like this. They show up, play the game using ST knowledge and skills and then weird moments happen for them. An uppercut comes out when they didn’t want it, a move trades or gets beat that they’re not used to seeing, reversals in certain situations seem off, etc. And because the game is pretty much 99% ST, it feels like they’re playing ST except weird shit happens.

So, that’s how one group of people feel. And it contains a lot of the OG heavy hitters, people that are likely to place or win in ST or HDR. Watson, please feel free to correct me if any of that sounds wrong.

But, while a lot of big name people are in that group, I think saying the majority don’t like it is an overstatement. There’s a bunch of other people who actively play HDR and prefer it. And there are a lot of people in this group that are either currently big name, or at the very least up-and-coming-players. Some of the people in this group are Afro Legends, Damdai, DGV, Cesar(MongoloRobokop), Antonio(Blue Tall Cans), EA Megaman, Thelo, and so on.

As I’ve said before, I think both games are great. Both games have some quirks here and there, but that’s part of their charm. IMHO, the ST vs HDR debate is as simple as this: Do we want the old school ST players to be able to show up and play at their best without needing to practice a new game? Or do we want to foster the up-and-coming players at the expense of the OG’s disinterest in this new version?

And again, if Watson or anyone else thinks I’m mis-representing the situation, please feel free to correct me.

^Very well put

I have no problem with the female tourney, but this 2v2 pairing idea sounds also very cool. I guess the only problem would be designing it so that the outcome actually depends on the girls performances. Like, I could see it coming down to the final game in each set and basically the tournament being dictated by the male performances. if someone could figure out a way around this i think it would be very interesting. but id also enjoy the female only tourney.

trolling at its finest. congrats dude. people like you are the reason why the scene has turned to shit and people really dont give a damn anymore. enjoy the new community buddy and keep finding more constructive things to say. until then, keep playing reading between the lines and talking shit to someone who actually has done a ton for the community donkey. pz.

Has anyone ever considered that it’s just a matter of opinion? Not every single think you like needs a concrete evidence for the reasoning on why you like something.

for all these people bitching about what blazblue is being at evo i would like to personally say i will play whatever game they decide (legally are able to) throw and thank them for supporting us on the strength of our side tourney showing last year.

don’t let this end up like gg plz

LOL. Sorry you think asking for reasons why HDR is shit is somehow “destroying the community”. What a baby you are.

“I hate SF4, it shouldn’t be on the schedule. We might as well pay Mortal Kombat 3”

“That’s a dumb opinion, why exactly do you say that?”

“YOU’RE DESTROYING THE COMMUNITY!”

pz

you gonna bring your ken and play in the SSF4 tourney lady? Sherijenix been telling me I should enter…=_= i might as well play bison no gouki =P

nice avatar you made there! and ya forget what others say, people will play whatever the fuck they want

Noone cares about a female tourney, people go to clubs and what not to chase tail not fighting game events. Nor will anyone watching the stream care. It kinda goes against the spirit of the entire event, best people competing for top spots etc.

Uuuh it does… It is just a different gender(Which I dont like. Rather have Couples)

holy shit, yjdk how to use or spell an ellipsis, do you

while I doubt evo will have BB:CS, I still hope people go for BB:CT. The game is still pretty fun…when you’re not fighting Arkune. And no doubt CS will be there in one form or another if you get my drift…

But hell, there were what, 130+ teams for CT at evo last year? I’m sure it’ll do fine.

i’m just reposting this because it seems as though the majority of the BB community felt the same way enough to get the game dropped from evo… just like I thought.

That is true about BB:CT. I do not even want to play my PS3 version anymore even if it has great online play.
It feels outdated playing it.

Yeah if they do like a 3S side team tourney or something I’d love to team up. Low health warriors! Don’t get hit. I’ll get my revenge against JR and get yours against Alex. GRRRR…

Now if a man/woman team is the new way of thinking for the team tournament…lets partner up. Team stylin. Viper and Dictator = freshest looking characters. Might need to bring extra alcohol for good measure. I still see the a full out women’s event being less than an all out disaster though. Bet it.

Ok, why the hell did they replace BB with MvC2, the prez said that they are planning to be one of the games for 2k10. last year it had 200-300 people within a 2 week announcement. MvC2 had their chance with the player’s choice, but why replace with Blazblue?

I’ll try ask Aksys to do another tournament at evo again.

Dustloop basically said fuck this, we’re not gonna deal with BBCT, and Aksys told them that they wouldn’t be able to get BBCS out in time for Evo, so they’re like “well BBCT is shitty so we’re gonna take out our own game someone else can have it.”

Because most of them already played CS and not coming back to CT and don’t give a shit of CT anymore.
