I don’t know if that means we will not have any legacy SF or that we will get ST instead of HDR. Whatever the case might be, I really hope that they have ST/HDR. They got to!
Cut other games before you cut ST or HDR. ST deserves a spot more than something like GGAC, BB, SCIV, or TvC in my opinion even, if it is alongside HDR. Meaning I wouldn’t object to having ST and HDR as games during the same year. When the Alpha series was competitive (and arcades were still crowded)the scene used to run A3 and A2 tournaments simultaneously.
A2 and A3 arent even running the same engine. They are radically different games. The SF2 family games are all very similar. Especially ST and HDr. I don’t think you’ll ever see them both run in the same year.
Lol what in the random. I would be really interested to see if an ST tourney at evo would even generate half the number of entrants as the HDR tourney did last year at evo (it wouldn’t).
Plus all console ports of ST are largely garbage/you’ll get a million ST og’s making a thread about what’s wrong with the game, etc, etc, circle-jerk. One could make an argument for HDR on classic mode but I’m not sure if anyone has tested how “classic” it is, or if anyone cares.
If that rumor is true then evo must really hate having people come out for their premier tournament (since this isn’t the case, logic would conclude that the rumor is probably false)
you do realize that even if its not an official event, someone will have an hdr side tourney,so come to evo. evo is not all about that main event games at all!
It’s like you’re completely oblivious to the fact that HDR got the 2nd most entries at EVO last year, and there’s still no decent port of ST.
HDR is the 3rd lock beside SF4 and T6.
And you must be completely oblivious that Mr. Wizard and others in #Capcom have said that HDR is a candidate for the axe this year despite it having the second highest turnout at EVO last year. Of course HDR should be a lock but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is.
The only real locks I see at this point are Super SF4 and Tekken 6.
I’m willing to bet HDR and Marvel 2 are likely to come back again; HDR runs quick and Marvel is Marvel. Tatsunoko I could see happening if the US release gets enough interest. Whether or not its on the Wii is moot (I’m guessing EVO still has all those Wiis from running Smash some years ago). Given how many people didn’t play the JP release because it was an import, I think it has a real shot of making it this time around.
Blazblue? Maybe. It’s fairly likely, but the game does seem to be losing steam.
So that’s my guess.
SSF4, MvC2, T6, TvC, HDR, and Blazblue.
Hopefully its sf4 instead of ssf4 … 3 months release of ssf4 is relatively short…

I’m sorry. Wiz may want to cut HDR b/c a lot of the tourney elite hate it, but they don’t have anything viable to replace it with. No console port of ST has been satisfactory with players, and if we go with DC, no one owns DCs or DC sticks anymore. “Going for new blood” means HDR stays, simple as that.
Same thing for MvC2. It won’t be on Dreamcast if it stays. All of the mall scrubs play on Xbox.
Hell, it’s hard for me to think up 6 games that are EVO worthy, even with HDR as a lock. 3S and GGXX are gone. I know they’d love to be rid of MvC2 on dreamcast. SC4 was ok at best. It’s hard to say if BB and TvC are popular enough.
All that being said. T6 and SSF4 are way too strong for EVO to be anything but great. All the other contests are peanuts.

Marvel community should just rally and bring as many Dreamcasts as they need…then the ST community can piggy back off of them and use the DCs for an ST tourney. It’s either that or everyone stops complaining about HDR not being ST or MvC2 HD not being MvC2 DC. And the whole “people don’t have a DC stick” is a pointless and stupid issue. If the games are announced this month it gives people six entire months to get a DC stick or a PS2 stick with DC converter. In sixth months it shouldn’t be that hard to figure out a way to get a DC capable stick.

We also had a guy taking low tier Zas to top 8 which was awesome and the fact Malek won his first big tourny was pretty damn cool. It was a Huge upset tournament with a lot of evo moments. Hilde mirror match with a game winning C4 B!
I just feel SC4 needs one more year there. Had lots of energy and I feel there’s not enough solid games to push it out. SSF4 and T6 are the only things I feel are guaranteed. MvC2, BB:CS, HDR, TvC are all heavily argued both ways and I don’t see any other games qualifying. At the very least make it a side tourny.

Either way, the final was awesome. If I could do top 3 finals in order: SF4, SC4, MvC2. lot of emotion in those…
…although epic hearing Tekken’s “Sheep LEVEL!” whenever a player was trying to counter pick Hilde on stage select.
