And with only eight pools I know that each one had it’s share of big names in it. Like platinum pointed out, it sucked for Sanford because he had to beat Duc and Row, but it REALLY sucked for Duc because he had to beat Sanford and Row, and it REALLY sucked for Row because he had to beat Duc and Sanford. All three players had it rough. The bracket wasn’t rigged spefically against Sanford. And I know all three of them fools were sweatin cuz my nigga MIKE ROSS was in that same pool >=). Too much firepower.
Anyway, what happened with the marvel money matches. There were some high dollar amounts being talked about.

edit: Although the real irony is if he would have went to evo east, he would have been guaranteed to make it to finals and pools wouldn’t have been an issue.
Platinum: I don’t agree that random = fair. They used some zip code format that looks to have failed twice (see EVO East Justin vs Yipes in same pool for a prime example) rather than simply taking a look at the people that they’re placing in the bracket and making a small adjustment. Also, while my focus has been around Sanford Kelly, I have the same concern over the entire bracket in general. I’m sure there was more than enough room between the pools to ensure that The World Champ, the 2nd best EC player and Row didnt’ have to be in the same pool (I could understand 2/3 of them but all three? COME ON!)
You need to get a fucking clue. You keep trying to warp what I’m saying to make it look like Sanford’s pool was the worst while everyone else are a bunch of scrubs. Obviously that isn’t the case. HOWEVER, there’s a difference between big players and a few others who everyone flat out knows is above the rest. If what I read is correct, there were at least 160 entrants at this year’s EVO World. That would mean at least 10 pools of sixteen, but more likely 12 - 16 pools. You’re honestly going to sit there and tell me that you have that kind of pool space to work with and somehow Sanford, Row and Duc all end up in the same pool? Hell they didn’t even need to account for Justin and Soo because they already qualified. That’s two more powerhouses that didn’t need a consideration. There’s no one in the EC that would argue that with Justin out, Sanford was the next best player. #1 EC non qualifier vs #1 WC non qualifier and Row in the same pool. Yeah… real fair.

man, this is evo is full of surprises. i knew sanford wasn’t gonna make it out of the pools, only cuz history shows that sanford doens’t do well out in the WC, i think he’s been out there once? or twice? i can’t recall and i know sanford can’t handle pressure. much respect to sanford, we all know he’s a better player than what the results say.

Im an ec player and i know how well jwo n sanford play n all the great ec players… i agree with the pool play w sanford was weird… but the point of the matter is that you cant bitch.the fact is he had a chance but lost. and it is true that sanford is not good in pressure situations (Consider the fact its his first evo) but i am sure sanford will make top 8 in next years evo.
I think alot of those East Coast guys like Smooth Viper may want to rethink those money matches versus Duc.

Pools are so fucking random, but when you have over 100 entries you need to run pools. Sanford had it ruff, but that pool consisted of 3 of the top 5 WC MvC2 players with the #2 EC mvc2 player right? I don’t think it was a set up against sanford, but that was a killer pool. In the long run it’s sanfords fault if he didn’t goto evo east.
I know people have a life outside of videogames and he prolly had something more inportant to do the day of evo east. I’m not dissing sanford, but if he KNEW he was going to attend EVO worlds why wouldn’t he goto evo east to qualify? That’s alot of money to pay for the trip to vegas and alot of money to win in vegas. Why not try to avoid the evo worlds pools because there’s a chance of being put into the death pool.
People don’t need to diss sanford for losing since everyone thinks he’s the #2 mvc2 player or complain for sanford because he was in that death pool. Shit happen’s and complaining about it won’t make it better, because I don’t think EVO will ever go back to normal bracket style, so IMO your complainning will fall on deaf ears. The shear numbers of evo worlds doesn’t allow you to run traditional brackets style tournaments.
op 5 WC guys are the 5 wc guys in the finals and even Jmar is debatable guy hasn’t been in a tourny since when? Last Tourney Row was in was like early last year here at svgl! i hear you though. people sleep on WC because most of them quit which ushered in EC guys other then Jwong and Sanford.
