congrats Alex, unfortunately the public is always doubting so the only way to really shut people up is to go to Japan and compete in X-mania (which I heard you guys are planning to do). Until then people will speculate forever.
I would love to go to a tourney in Japan, However I have proved my point and earned the respect of one of the best Japanese players ever and every OG SF player in the US. I would say… Mission Accomplished.
That’s weird, I had always heard that Daigo doesn’t even speak English. (Or maybe much English) But like you said, hearsay and real life.
However, I’m so glad to hear that USA kicked major ass this year. Particularly Alex Valle, taking Daigo out of AE and 3S. Amazing stuff.
I’m kind of upset that I missed out on EVO2K6.
America, Fuck Yeah. :nunchuck:
few other interesting things i discovered :
-
“sanford money match” roughly translates to “studiotraffic karma” in japanese.
-
AE should be getting a hell of a lot more love… good job guys… jason nelson coming out of semi-retirement to take 2nd and nobody says a damn thing. the same fools on here who were still breast feeding when he won a cvs1 tourney at the most competitive arcade in the nation with just r4 evil ryu posting more about the japanese losing than OG USA winning… you people make me sick.
-
nobody cares about DOA as expected; take back all that prize money and donate it to getting a clue… and what can i say about T5 …crow is a beast but who still plays 5.0 for any other reason than trying to win money at tourneys run by people too stuck in this “console is the future” mindset to find a way to incorporate T5:DR so the other 5 tekken players in the USA might give a rats ass… i think if it were up to the tekken community everyone would just play TTT.
-
i’ve seen more character variety in karate champ than in the 3s finals.
NKI was translating for them.
Props to all TEAM USA !!! Couldn’t make it this year…Sounds like it was a fun EVO2K6…
I WILL BE BAAAAAAACK NEXT YEAR !!!

need more evo logs in separate threads imo
Damn I really feel like I missed out. Good job to Pyro, Alex Valle and Amir. I’m sure you guys gave it your best shot. Props to chunksta for getting the second place spot everyone thought Sanford would get. Way to hold it down for Norcal. Props to all the US CvS2 players who filled up the top 8.
i cosign that (with a couple edits :P)
Some of you need to get a clue about 3s.
The lack of character variety is noones fault but our own. In Japan they do not have this problem.
I’m sure as hell not complaining, because had you shown me a list of players in the tournament, I’d have predicted exactly what you see at Evo. Is it any surprise that Pyro (Yun), Issei (Yun), Ohnuki (Chun), Mester (Yun) made the top 4? Any retard could have predicted that.
USA needs to step it up in 3s. Where are our Makoto’s, Uriens, Yangs, Dudleys, Akumas, etc?
i miss seeing hsien’s akuma. he used to dominate tournaments with that char.
did he compete at this years evo?
Co-sign. Thats exactly what I was thinking. This needs to be adressed before 500 threads get made about how unblanced 3s is. Lets say Nitto, Mester, Issei, Tokido or Nuki never showed up to fill the top 8 with Yun and Chun, But J, Kokujin, RX etc. did. Odds are they would have taken top spots My point is that any top player from Japan could have done well at Evo. It’s not fanboyism it’s a fact. It just so happens that everyone who came to rep Japan was a Yun or Chun player. 3s isnt a team game like CvS2 or MvC2. Seeing one character used by 4 people is just like seeing 4 people using A-groove or Storm. I’m really surprised that only one Ken made top 8. I dont know the status on whats going on with Daigo, but I’m not gonna be a fanboy and make excuses for why he couldnt work his magic this year.
maybe i missed it but what were the results for mario kart?
also how many people would you have to play to make top eight either qualifiying at evo west/east or not qualifying, for CVs2 or AE?
thanks!
good shit to chunk for holding it down for Norcal.
good shit to Ricky for getting 2nd in cvs2
and of course good shit to Pyro for getting 5th in 3s.
Bronson took 2nd in Tekken? Is this true?
combo vs daigo in winners cvs, combo started off w/ k-ken/sagat/cammy
good shit to all american placers
is ISSEI japanese or american? i’m really surprised that he beat almost everyone…
KSK was here, but issei was better with yun, i wanted to see KSK in the top 8… it would be nice to see an Alex for a change
daigo… nothing to say… to much mahjong… i guess
Does anyone know what Daigo and Justin used for CvS2?
Wait, combo was using K-Groove? Man, this is goint to be hot!
as for character variety
doesnt ffa have an oro player, a really solid hugo, a dudley, a few elenas, mike z’s makoto, etc.
easy E is nip
enough with 3s… if anything it was the lowest point of this tourney sans doa4 and t5 … i posted as to give major props to people repping in AE … i could give two shits less about the circa 2k2/2k3 third strike fanboys who jumped on this game like a passed out japanese girl at an anime party.
… you ask where all these other characters besides yun/ken/chun went? … here is your answer… 1999. when the fucking game came out and nobody played it. it took the development of wash/rinse/repeat tactics representing the top-tier of this game until the US got interested. end. of. story.
