It’s kind of obvious. They want eryu to do his damage at neutral. Not be a vortex character like akuma. They’re trying to take the vortex out of the game. Giving eryu tatsu, sweep kind of goes against that. Lame as hell, though. I want to sweep them!!!
I liked the removal of the tatsu>sweep but the possible end of the crossunders annoys me. It will probably to nerf the tatsu>reset>crossups aswell.
Yeah it’s obvious why they don’t want him to have it. And like I said before, I think his damage and stun had a lot to do with it. Instead of nerfing that to hell like they with Cammy and Akuma, I guess they just decided to not give him a free way to retain knockdown pressure unless he spends meter. Besides that he gets all sorts of fake cross ups in the corner with it, that probably had something to do with it as well. I’ll be honest, I was really looking forward to exploiting that in Ultra, but sadly that’s not happening anymore.
About something gognito said, he mentioned that the MK axe kick into cr. LP link was actually 1f? Is that actually true? I’ve been wondering if the wonky hit/hurt boxes that allow Evil Ryu to do that combo against Rufus also makes the cr. LP link harder for a long time now because I have a very hard time hitting that link in practice when I try the Sako combo for fun? I will miss it probably half the time and then pick someone else and land it maybe 80% of the time, go back to Rufus and have the same problems. Is it all in my head or is it actually a 1f link?

record the combo and try it on rufus and on another character. Do that for like 20 times and if in at least one of them the combo didnt work for both characters then its a 1f link against Rufus. But I think it isnt.
The sweep’s buff is pretty useless if you cant combo tatsu to sweep in my opinion. They should give him a 6f c.mk instead, would be far more useful.
The sweep buff is a very good buff and its purpose since day one was to increase Evil Ryu’s footsies potential. The tatsu>sweep combo was the undesired side effect, that got corrected. Thats good. The problem is the side effects of the change to forbid the tatsu>sweep. Sometimes I get scared on how the guys are smart doing small changes to fix somethings they want to change, and other times they cant to fix something that is easy to fix, without unintended side effects.
I am really sceptical, how can it be good with a such long recovery and punishable on block?
6 frames is about as fast as it gets for a normal with that much range. It will make it easier to whiff punish. Poking with it will still be a bit reckless unless you’re facing someone that can’t or won’t punish it. At max range, not all characters will be able to.
Do it when its going to hit an opponent that is in an state he cannot to block. Its not to be used by retards, like akuma’s.
In order to punish? I dont see what this buff will allow to punish.
However, something far more dangerous is coming. Seems that the tatsu change that make the opponet float lower wont allow to shoryu after anymore! We have to make a move!

I saw that mentioned in the rebalance thread as well. I’m not sure if you’re the one who mentioned it though, just that someone posted it. Now I’m not saying that I think those two are lying or are just dropping the SRK follow up, but I won’t believe it till I see it. This is just too big of a change. It basically destroys the axe kick combo that he’s so well known for. Right now he gets about 6 frames to land a SRK against most of his opponents. To think they will lessen that by at least 4 frames just sounds too crazy to me to believe until I see it for myself or hear about it straight from Capcom themselves.
Thats hilariously bad if that’s actually the case. It sounds like an unintended change if anything.
Please god no, taking out the possibility of SRK after tatsu is huge for E.Ryu!
I won’t believe they will do this, because then he is just a bad hybrid of Akuma and Ryu.
Also not really digging the frame adjustment, if it does happen. I play both on PS3 and PC, and the frame difference between versions keeps messing with my timing so I miss the SRK maybe 1/10. Really annoying!
So if they remove the SRK follow up from LK Tatsu it might be better to:
MK Axe > cr.MP > HK tatsu
MK Axe > HP SRK
But yeah this would pretty much wreck the character.
