Everybody let's vote KOF XII for the 7th game at EVO

Let’s all move to China, a land of paradise

Even if this game had the a larger following, even if the game had all the bells and whistles of SF4, it still would not be at EVO.Why? Because of fanboyism. No matter how solid the gameplay is, no matter the size of the roster, no matter how balanced the characters are, it will not get played because of fanboyism. Simple as that. Even if SNK pulls out all the stops for the next King of Fighters game, it could a perfect blend of MOTW and KOF '98 with a hint of KOF 2002 with character having all their moves, specials and desperation and super-desperation, character intros and teams set ups like '97, it still won’t get played because of fanboyism.

I know I will get burned for this but, who cares. But, what I am saying is that, even without all the “problems” this game has, it would not get played, because most of everyone at the tournament is capcom fanboy. Yes, I do agree this game has some problems, but even without those problems the game still would not get played because of fanboyism. So, no one will say that I am an SNK fanboy, my favorite is from Capcom and it happens to be Darkstalkers/Vampire. So, I know I am about to get burned for this so bring it on, I am ready. But, by doing everyone out there will be proving to and everyone else that you are a fanboy. (Nothing is meant to be inferred derogatively.)

You think the reason KOF won’t ever make at Evo is because of Capcom fanboyism? Right…

Because it’s not like the Evo people weren’t trying to get something to work with Ignition for KOF XII. Oh no. That never happened. And it’s not like Evo has anything other than Capcom games. No no. Evo is all Capcom games because it’s not as if Tekken would be at Evo since y’know… Capcom fanboyism and all that jazz. Makes you wonder why Melty Blood can be at Evo if there’s enough support for it…

3s is not an old game? To put XII against 3s is a waste of time, this is SRK!!

However, I’m going to vote XII, only to show that there are people who would like to play SNK games. Not going to win, no chance, but it will show there is still interest. XII is a good game, shame it’s unfinished.

Here we go, You’re telling me that Capcom fanboyism is the reason why KOF XII won’t be at EVO? Did you not see that EVO 2010 Players Choice thread? Tekken 6 and Blazblue already have certified spots in EVO (neither are made by Capcom) while big hype games like CvS2, Marvel, and even 3S have been bumped into players choice, speaking of players choice even Melty Blood (a bonafide import from Japan!) is getting a chance and the fans are coming out and supporting their game in full force, dude you know damn well the reason why this game (KOF XII) won’t be at EVO is because it’s a incomplete mess, as a game on it’s own it’s okay but as a KOF it’s half-assed and barely generates enough hype to warrant a spot in the EVO line-up anyway (it’d be you and like 9-12 other people and that’s if yall even decide to fucking go which would be hella embarrassing…), Capcom fanboyism? you should be jumping for joy that Mr. Wiz even considered giving this game a spot in the players choice section you bonehead, go support a real KOF game like 2002UM (had at least 2 major tourneys over in Asia and is listed for Tougeki 2010), KOF 98UM, or better yet one of the five games other in the players choice that aren’t KOF XII…

And yeah if DO you wanna vote for KOF XII go ahead don’t let me stop you, but don’t expect to make much of a difference as your vote will be like trying to listen for a pulse from a rotten corpse with rigor mortis…

Good god…

Cmon guys, ease up a bit. He really didnt mean any harm.

I agree with everything that you said. I was looking for someone to come back at me defending the fanboyism part without any hostility. I see I didn’t get that reaction. Though, I love this game in its current form, I know it’s not strong enough to be plaid at EVO. So, my vote is, and has always been no to KOF XII. But, as far as any other KOF games ('98 and 2002 UM) I wish them the best of luck in trying to get into EVO. Like I said, I was looking for a debate not a brawl.

There’s no fight, you’d get the same response from everyone else regardless of them being a KOF fan or not and please don’t try to chalk this up to you trying to start a debate, this topic has been done away months ago and I’m quite sick of people trying to bring it back up, swallow your pride and move on already…

People like you are the one’s holding KOF back in becoming mainstream in the US. I like 2002UM or 98UM better, but this is what I’ve been waiting for since 2003 EVO to acknowledge a KOF game for their main line up. I could care less if it was 94’ or 2001 all I want is that people start taking notice to KOF games and XII might not be the best title to start with, but you have to start somewhere.

That was my point: No one is taking notice of the KOF series. What I really want to know is: Why do people play SF and not KOF? The reason I am asking this, I play with friends and we play SF and I usually beat them. But, when we move over to KOF no one plays, stating they can’t get used to the controls or the combos/moves are too hard to pull off. But yet, I have friends that can pull off 12 hit juggle combos in Alpha3 or CvS2 even 3RD Strike. (I may not push KOF in online communities, but among those I play with, I am an avid KOF/SNK advocate.) Hell, I want any SNK fighter to be played at EVO and I pray that happens. The reason I used the word fanboy, some people just might not give it the chance it needs to grow. I want to know more than just it’s not SF so I don’t play it (not just XII, but all KOF games.)

People are first introduced to SF style input mechanics, combo systems, gameplay and designs and either can’t adjust, or refuse to put in the effort to learn. It’s sad, but people aren’t happy with losing to learn, they just want to win all the time.

This. This.

Its another reason I hate SF4 and how the community is turning out. Its the same exact reason we can’t ever seem to get people into other fighters, not just KOF. Coupled with this inability to lose and learn, people just seem close-minded. To be honest its always been a bit like this, but its been just odd since SF4 dropped.

My personal opinion is that SF style of gameplay is easier to grasp and pickup for a newcomer. I would see someone pull a Ryu jK cMK FB combo more then someone doing like Iori sC, qcb Ax3 which are both considered basic. I feel that the SF system and mechanics is something that someone doesnt really need to rely on to win, like SF4 you can win just by turtling and cHP all day if someone jumps in without using Ultra or DMs. That sorta thinking can still apply to kof but isnt as lenient as SF and sometimes what the game offers you have to apply (kof 2k aka king of strikers 2000) to win. It gets even worse when a new player is overwhelmed to what Kof has to offer in system and mechanics and get beat by someone that exploits it.

I see it this way cos thats how it happened for me. I was into SF first before Kof then I got into it bout 6 years ago starting with 2k2. It took me way longer to understand that game then any of the sf ones. Maybe its just me, but I do feel that it can be for others aswell.

Then again I do know players that can play multiple games and not have a problem adapting. They can pick something up and learn it within a few days and which to other games and still know what to do. I guess some people are like that and are talented that way. Justin Wong and Ryan Hart come to my mind in that regards.

Oh god, this entire paragraph is such a crock of biased bullshit. Saying one game is easier to play than another doesn’t mean shit unless you play both games at a professional level. Either way, USA SNK players must be retarded as fuck. Especially with so much there to help them. There’s an in depth tutorial on how to play the game and countless move lists and tips as well as people willing to help out. But no, fuck it. I guess we can’t have nice things.

Are you self-important or just really that stupid?

With 2002 UM and NGBC coming out for 360 this year, I’d say there’s SNK games for 360, that unlike XII, THE COMMUNITY ACTUALLY PLAYS.
Unless you call that Devastation XII “tournament”, i.e. signing up total randoms and making half-assed brackets of people who had nothing better to do and wanted to dabble just because the game was brand new, “playing”.
So what the fuck is it exactly that Devastation is doing to help the SNK community? Putting out 1 game that the community doesn’t want to play, and then shoving it straight into the farthest corner?

The reason that nobody signed up for SNK at Devastation is because no SNK fan was there in the first place because Devastation was obviously Capcom-centric, mixed with mainstream shit like Madden, Halo, Smash.
I know personally, that besides HD Remix, even if I lived in the area, I wouldn’t have much inclination to go, knowing that any space for side stuff would be pushed out by Street Fighter Snore and dumb mainstream shit.

OK, so lets assume KOF 12 does not win the poll, how do we as a collective SNK Community of SRK move forward? Will it be towards KOF 2002 UM/NGBC/Garou/KOF 98 UM on XBL? Other solution?

Well since some people do have 2002UM in the US(on PS2 imported) and 360 is supposed to have it as well, and since 360 and PS2 have 98UM, I’d say the best bet is to support those games. We have to see what comes out of NGBC being released in the US though. If enough people back it up then it’s worthy of being supported. We need games that turn out good numbers.

Where does Garou even stand now? The XBLA release brought in some new blood but where did they go?

They probably moved on to other games when they found the online to be crap. Which is a shame.

Wow you must be retarded. If this is the thanks that major tournaments get for trying to include KoF, why the fuck would they? Devastation wasn’t capcom-centric at all, it was as ALL INCLUSIVE AS POSSIBLE. They held everything from Guitar Hero to Geometry Wars in an attempt to get people any and all games they’d like to play. And if there is such a huge community for those games, WHY DIDN’T YOU PLAY IN THE FREE TOURNAMENTS FOR THOSE GAMES THAT DARK GEESE HIMSELF SETUP. He offered GUARANTEED POTS for crying out loud. Your logic is what? That if the game that YOU THINK deserves shit tons of attention doesn’t get up on the big screen it’s not even worth having it? That’s got to be the most self destructive shit I’ve ever heard of, who would that benefit?

Devastation itself is helping the SNK community by MAKING SURE PEOPLE HAVE A CHANCE TO PLAY SNK GAMES. If they hadn’t offered anything at all sure, but they STILL DID AND CONTINUE TO DO SO.

Also, you’re talking like you were there? Dark Geese was given a huge square setup with 6 tables to get all of the SNK games going on, so it wasn’t just some corner in the middle of nowhere. Please spout more bullshit that I can shoot down, you obviously have no idea what you’re talking about.

You’re also missing the huge factor that YOU ARE NOT THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. 5 dudes arguing on a board about what they think matters isn’t going to change the simple fact that SCRUBS MAKE THESE TOURNAMENTS HAPPEN. 80% of entrants will be random people that bought a game they saw and thought looked cool, not somebody who is specifically downloading 2k2 for their damn 360. Get the fuck over yourself and stop spitting in the face of people trying to make shit happen.

KOF12 is ALREADY ON THE DOCKET for Devastation this year, and WELCOMES anybody who would like to try and setup ANYTHING ELSE. I personally know people are already setting up Tekken Tag tournaments, as well as lesser known titles like hokuto, Melty Blood, and the likes, so don’t act like you can call ANYBODY out of doing things for the community when you aren’t there trying to help out.

Fuck I’m done with this guy, how fucking naive can you be.

Ha ha, oh wow.
