Probably shouldn’t have it on the 4th as we have the intel thing going on. No need to try and push possible entrants out. Especially since Chris from Gameclucks has been working with those guys for a while now.

The 4th is the only day I am available to do this currently. I’m also would like to see how things go so we can see if the location would work well for starting up TW and/or doing a regional.
The Intel Lanfest 3/4 of the way to Olympia and it costs $20 with no idea what the payout will be. I personally wouldnt drive that far and pay that much with no idea how it’s going to turn out.

Intel’s event is a chance to get some BIG sponsors on board for future events…
Yeah its $20 for a 36 hr LAN where they raffle off about $10,000 in prizes.
Event prizes are not set yet, they will not be cash though, but if you win something like a i7 processor… that payout is bigger then anything we have done locally…
So, honestly, to have no showing at InfernalLAN hurts the community long term in the form of sponsors.

well, when the BIG sponsors get tired of stinky and nasty people at the infernal lan event, tell them to come to afk tavern where we will be drinking and having a real party.

If the 4th is the only day that you are available to do this atm, then get the idea of running a season out of your head. You’re going to need to commit at least a half a year to that. This is including planning everything and then executing it.
That’s fine and all, but you shouldn’t try to make this some kind of competition and try to bash an event based off of uncertainties. Let alone trying to go against the grain of what is the last resort for Seattle’s competitive fighting scene.
I personally know that Chris and the folks at infernalan are hard at work in trying to finish up and get everything solidified (I’m still on the email list, and have been getting a lot of emails from those involved as of late). Even though money isn’t being offered, I’m sure the prizes they will put up will sell nicely on ebay or on our very own wtb/wts thread.
I’ll say this now one last time. Take my advice and reschedule your event for a later date. You’ll have all the time in the world to actually host an event at a bar. There’s only one time and as of now one shot to get this infernalan thing to side with the fighting game community. You (and a vast amount of other people) need to check your ego at the door, and focus on actually trying to rebuild this rusted wasteland that is our scene instead of trying to go against those that are struggling to keep it together.

I’ll be at inferna-lan beasting on noobs and trying to hustle sponsors. I’ll come beast and spend tourney winnings on alcohol soon though. I recommend running the event anyways, but don’t expect a major turn out and read threads before planning events next time. New kids on the block don’t get to kick rocks.

Yes, you’re right I shouldn’t bash on the lanfest thing, but it smells of corporate monetization of the community.
And I dont like how gameclucks appears to do the same thing.
After BW and TW got all fucked up, we haven’t had much going. I found a new venue to try out and I would rather test it out sooner than later. I’m not saying im going to start TW up myself, I was hoping that if the venue works out some people would step up.
I dont think a lan party in bumfuck south washington is going to kick start the scene any more than trying something only 20 minutes north of Seattle. I dont work for the venue, and I’m not looking to make any money for myself. I’d just like to support the community and have fun doing it.
I talked to Cole and he suggested the 4th, which also works for my schedule with all the holidays and shit. We’ll go ahead and run it on the 4th and see how it goes, those who dont want to spend the time and money to goto dupont will show up and we’ll have a great time and go from there.
If things go well we’ll carefully schedule something to not conflict with anything for the next event.
