Ever get harassed for fighting games?

sado aka Odas threaten me dreamfire and doujinshi after he lost in a2 on ggpo lol. he made a thread and everything lol. got banned for it to .shit was funny tho lol

Lay off the emoticon there geezer. Pretty good chance I came across someone like you. The difference btween you and me is that I don’t need to claim to be so badass and you are big enough douche to not let someone enjoy a fukken single player game.

I wonder if this nonsense is tolerated in other parts of the world. It seems as if it’s only here in the states that you hear of this immaturity…

MUSOLINI (that’s his username, I just copied and pasted) stated it happened to him in Turkey so I guess it does. Here in Canada, I seen people get angry too. Though, I don’t remember the exact details for the stories. If anything comes up, I’ll post it.

I’ve seen more than my fair share of people beaten up over “cheap” tactics… which could be anything at any time, such as tick throws, fireball traps and even once for throwing a red fireball in the CPS1 versions. Yep, someone got beaten up over a glitch.

A slight bit off-topic, I’ve once been responsible for harassing over videogames. I was about 14 or so and a friend of mine borrowed my copy of Strider for the NES. Little did I know how much of a friend he really was… his family moved out two days later and I never saw the game again.

14 years later, I’m walking through a somewhat high-traffic alleyway near a main road. I look up and I see him. I look at him for a second and then straight punch him in the face. I stood over him and yelled out “that’s for taking Strider!”

As I was walking home, proud of myself… maybe a block or two away from the alleyway, I was thinking:

“Hmm… looks a bit older, but still the same.”

And then a few minutes later:

“Wait… I don’t remember him having blue eyes.”

Yeah… oops.

Im calling shennanigans. But thats a ballsy move if true.

Back in the day my friend Eric and I were playing SSF2 for SNES at my house. Then my buddy David comes over wanting to play basketball but saw me an Eric playing SSF2 and wanted to play. I told him to sit down and you’ll play winner.

Now my friend David was king of SF2 and Mortal Kombat in my neighborhood. Eric beats me and then plays David. David picks Guile and Eric picks Ken. David destroyed Eric. David never lost and was beating me and Eric down. Eric got frustrated when David started talking trash. Eric then not wanted to give up his controller because he wanted to beat David so I let him play. I didn’t care because David was the best player in the hood.

But then it happened. David said he could be Eric with just one hand. He put his right hand behind the back so he could only use the D Pad and Fierce punch. He pick Dhalsim and beat Eric’s Sagat. Eric then tackled David and the two began fighting in my living room. I was laughing but then my dad comes in smacks me across the face and kicks out my friends and tells them they could never come back.

Yeah, well… not exactly my proudest moment.

Keits, that is why time out on the court closed. I didnt kno Bayou Billy played fighting games. Time out was saucesome tho and i miss it. You have got to remember Northgate tilt. Now, thats where i get 50 win streaks. Scrubtastic place that was. I got plenty of stories about Norfgate tilt.

whoa… just… wow…

i’ve seen and heard some cold stories before, but this tops all…

I remember there was a bodega near my building that had MvC1 and 2 and rival schools…me my step uncle and his friend would go there and beast on everyone, but this one day these guys from the jects across the street were tired of getting whooped on; they stepped outside, and when we were done playing they all jumped us and were shouting “lets see if you know how to fight IRL”…it was tough but we fought with them until we saw a good chance to run.

Did you guys assist each other? It’s the best way to land good combos I hear.

Too many encounters to recall, but I have lost and just left the machine on purpose to keep the peace before.
I kinda regret that now. But I’m glad that I’m still alive. My arcade was in the ghetto, and I was a skinny white kid.

Nothing has ever happened to me personally because of fighting games, but this reminds me of a time my brother was on xbox live playing DOA. Watching my brother play any game online is always hilarious since he gets easily frustrated, and this usually builds up to screaming and possibly punching things, or biting himself to ease the anger.

Anyway, he was playing DOA against some kid, and I think the kid was talking trash into the mic, and my brother was also losing. We all know DOA is a BS game with losing half your life because of a guessed counter. He get so frustrated at this kid that he puts the headset on and starts screaming at him saying “IM GONNA FIND YOU AND RAPE YOUR WHOLE FAMILY!” I’m just standing there laughing my ass off, but I have to hide it, because if he sees me laughing it gets him even more angry.

This is also one of the reasons why I can’t play a fighting game with him. He’s such a sore loser. I’m much better than him at Guilty Gear, but he likes the game so he’ll play with me, but after a few matches of him losing he starts to get pissed like I should be giving him pity wins or something. I’m just trying to get him better at the game.

I get this all the time…except the harassment is more like this

Me: psycho crushers, headstomps, etc.
Hot girl: I’m bored, are you almost finished?
Me: A few more minutes.
Hot girl: I wanna go now. This isn’t any fun.
Me: Hold on.
Hot girl: No! I said I wanna go now.
Me: We’ll leave in a minute.
Hot girl: You might leave in a minute but I’m going now.
Me: sigh

Hahahaha good thread…

Back in the day of year 2 marvel Storm/sentinel finally took over and storm substituted cable on all our favorite magneto teams. There was only a couple decent players at our arcade but we had some buff low tier players who learned how to fight the teams but were still on an honor craze. Our local rouge dude was getting spanked by me with MST, and he started freaking out saying if I didn’t have infinites and lame combos I wouldn’t be able to beat him. After a good 15 matches he started getting hostile and I felt bad but me being the asshole 14 year old I was I left him win so I could play him with Team Duc. After borderline chipping him to death with almost a perfect he grabbed me, jacked me up against the wall and told me to give me all his tokens. He told me if I did anymore chea shit he’d make my head pop off in real life. I was freaked out and obliged seeing this guy was 27 and double my weight… though that friday he boasted about it to a friend of mine Tony B who was the best marvel player at our arcade and he basically punked him so bad and made him give me all his tokens. That was the first time I felt alot of unity for our crew. I never had a problem with the guy after this.

This other time at Goodtimes in Boston, CvS1 was hella popular and there would be crowds of 25+ playing on multiple cabinets. I was beasting with SNK Guile/Balrog(EX? I forget the good rog) and I was beating this fobs for about a 38 winstreak. At the time you could smoke in this arcade so at one point I had a group of asian dudes blowing smoke in my face and throwing insults at me non stop along the lines of “Fuck you white boy, try this shit again white boy” at the time I thought it was rediculous but I was traveling a lot to get over my gaming anxiety at this time. While I thought I was testing my might when I got to 40 wins one of the guy busts out a knife and tells me to go outside… I don’t do shit then his boys all surround him and start telling me to go. I just sat there and didn’t do shit but when I was about to walk to the T to get back to my aunts house the guy just shows up at one end of the parking lot and is yelling at me with a knife “LETS GO WHITE BOY” I proceeded to just talk to the guy at the door(you couldn’t get back in after 9 if you were under 18 due to curfew) and he gave me a number to a taxi.

While I never got the shit kicked out of me for a fighting game, I’m glad I have gone through these things as they made me a better player. Whenever I hear people talking shit in the background of Marvel it brings me back, things are way more laxed these days. :looney:

Yo Iceman remember that tourney at C-gods way back with like 90 people for OG XX. Good matches vs your eddie man. hahaha Old school. We played first round I was that sol kid haha.

I’ve had some incidents in the past with random thugs that would get hella mad mid match, so I would just let them win. I remember one time when I first learned the rom infinite, I had done it to some random Black guy and he was like “DAMN THIS NIGGA OVER HERE PUTTIN IN CODES AND SHIT!” And he walked off pretty mad. It would be stuff like that most of the time, never anything too major with fighting games.

The craziest incident I had was during a game of NBA JAM at Ford Center in Chicago. I remember I picked the Atlanta Hawks (big Dominique Wilkins fan) and this random Black dude was playing as the Bulls. But anyway, NBA JAM was bs as it had computer assistance. So in the beginning I was losing, but the game allowed me to come back. So during this comeback, the dude starts goin “Yo, I know I ain’t bout to lose to no kid man. For real I KNOW I AIN’T BOUT TO LOSE!” I was so young then, I didn’t give a damn about threats like that, I was really trying to win. He was getting even more upset cause he had friends with him that were laughing at him for losing. Luckily for me though, I ended up losing the game and when I lost the guy goes “You see you can’t fuck with this, you can’t!”

I was only like 11 years old. =/

EDIT-Oh yeah, now that I think about it, I pissed off this white guy years ago because I played him during conquest mode in Soul Calibur II hahah. I stepped up and he was like “Hey! I’m-” and I kept putting in my money to play hahahah. I picked Astaroth and would only use bullrush, that spin grab thing with the axe, and grabs. Anyway, needless to say I ended up beating this guy, and he was livid.

“YOU FUCKIN ASSHOLE! FUCKER! WHY ARE YOU SUCH A DICK?!”

Man I wish Seattle still had arcades hahah.

Ha ha. Arcade machines under bodegas always caused beef.

Iv had it happen alot, mostly when i was younger. Im not a small guy so people dont go out of there way to do it anymore. Two most notable experiences are when MvC2 first came out, litteraly the first week, i was playing cable. Using his standing fierce gunshots and general keepaway. Guy got pissed yelling and staring at me the hole time, i was a little smart ass kid though so i would talk shit back and do it more :p. Guy was like 22 or so i was 14, and he told me he would be waiting for me outside.
I was with a group of friends who had left me to play some games while they paroosed(sp lol) the mall. I called and met up with them and we left, sure enough dude was outside. The school/cliques i come from have a habit of jumping people and most of the people i was with had a habbit of it and were good at it. Needless to say they came from behind and stomped this dude as soon as he made a move toward me :D.

Another time a few years later i started going to a “ghetto” mall to expand my comp in marvel. Mind you i have been in the arcade here during a shooting twice, this realy is not too safe a place to be. The low tier players here didnt take too kindly to us “Mid rivers”(the other arcade) kids coming in and playing “cheap”, and soon enough there was a gang of 4 or 5 outside waiting for me, as again i didnt back down and act humble. I probably ran my mouth a little too hard :).

The outside of the arcade is dark and seperate from the rest of the mall. As the argument got heated and looked like it was headed towards violence(for some reason i was never too worried, the hole situation seemed silly to me) i just sat down and lit a joint i had in a jholder in my pocket. Looked up at the main guy causing the ruckus and asked if he smoked. As it turned out he did and never had a problem there again after this.

The moral of the story is, weed does wonders for tempers
