So Guy is basically low-mid. I feel bad for Yang i was going to side him but jesus Capcom just destroyed that character for no reason, if he had his cross up still he’d at least be mid tier like Yun. But ugh they just killed him.
Now I look at Guy’s rankings and see Seth being 6-4, now I’ve fought a few Seths but… 6-4? I know Seth has low health and stun but he has enough tools to deal with Guy. Maybe we’re just missing something?
6-4 for Rufus… I know the match up has gotten easier due to Guy getting a few buffs that help compensate him in the match up, but I don’t think its 6-4. Also Sagat, Ibuki, Blanka being 4-6 is hogwash. That is definitely a 5-5. They may have their tricks and benefits but Guy can deal with them quite well. Guile is not a 6-4, that can easily be a 4.5-5.5, getting through Guile’s pressure is not easy, as opposed to applying pressure on him. I’d say Cody vs Guy 5-5 still. I don’t know I feel some of this matches are a little off, like Zangief being his only 3-7.
Maybe I just need to have more battle experience. But alas I have to buy AE and get a gold account. I has an 360 folks :3
Well I will have to agree that Guy is low-mid but some matchup rankings just are wrong. Seth being 6-4 is not true at all I say more of 7-3 than anything becuase like you said blooddrunk he has enough tools to deal with guy and once seth starts up his momentum it becomes very hard to fight against him. I say the Blanka matchup can be 6-4 because guy can beat Blanka on the ground and with Sagat I also say 5-5 but against a very good one 4.5. Guile is 4.5 easily and Cody and Guy to me is 5-5 as well. Man poor Yang Capcom just ruined him so bad it’s sad becuase he’s a good character and I play as him sometime but with the lack of a cross up it just ruined him. Oh and with the Cammy matchup I say that is 4-6 her pressure is so good and she has alot of stun and mixups. and Ryu and Guy is not 5-5 in my opinion

I totally agree that Guy is Low-Mid teir. Zangeif and high-level shoto players are probably Guy’s hardest match-ups. Surprisingly, I think high-level Vega players are one of Guys hardest match-ups. I play a very good one every now and then. His pokes mixed-in with sneaky kara grabs are just to good IMO. Theirs almost nothing you can do once he gets you in the corner. I gotta come up with some more Vega tech. But I agree with Guy’s teir placement.
I agree that Guy vs Seth is not 6-4, sure Guy can kill him in a few combos but once Seth get his shit going then it’s hard for Guy to stop him and I’m pretty sure ex spd stops runslide safejump as well
Ryu should be something like 4-6 imo,Guy needs to work way harder than Ryu to win given that both players are at the same skill level . Can’t talk much about Guile since I’ve never played anyone decent with him,just scrubs. I don’t think Fei/Honda is 5-5. Good Fei feels too hard to be 5-5 for me and as for Honda I know that OS are good but he’s still a bitch in my book
It’s hard to get an accurate tier list for characters like Guy who are in that grey region.
I tend to find tier lists accurate only when I look at the characters at the top of the list and the characters at the bottom. They tend to make sense. Everyone in between is hard to judge. If it wasn’t for 5/6 characters in this game, I think Guy would be a threat - but that’s just how it has turned out.
