I am playing the on my Dreamcast, and I am playing the CPU on highest difficulty(its a shame i have no real people to play in this crappy town). my fav char of course is ken, but i wanna learn to play rock, and hoahmaru is fun, cause i like his pokes. if any of u guys can leave feedback, suggestions and combos to help, I would love it all.

…Okay. I don’t do this often, but, I’ll help.
First Video
00:00 = Pick Ratio mode.
00:22 = Random fireball, not the best idea off the start.
00:26 = Random fireball got you kicked in the face.
00:28 = c.RH? out of range
00:30 = Again! ^
00:32 = Random fireball punished by you trying to crouch block the wrong way against an attack from the air.
00:34 = Random Fierce Rising Tackle
00:40 = Random fireball punished by you crouching something you need to block high again.
00:41 = Random fierce Rising Tackle… Again.
00:41-47 = To much random jumping.
00:48 = Fireball inside Vega s.HP range, not comboed into in the least.
1:09 = …Sj.Fierce?
1:13 = Your Dizzy combo is a fireball.
1:14 = Another sj.Fierce.
1:16 = Regular jump fierce… You do have a forward, right? Try a crossup.
1:20 = Two random fierce SRKs, one on wakeup. If those were blocked, you could have eaten a Red Impact.
1:37 = Random c.RH
1:41 = Uncomboed fireball got punished.
1:44 = j.Fierce.
1:45 = Small jump… Fierce!
1:47 = …I think you just tried a crossup j.Fierce -> c.Fierce combo?
1:48 = Random fireball
1:51 = No block on wakeup.
1:54 = Random wakeup super.
1:58 = Fierce SRK oki attempt, no block on THE SUPER YOU KNEW WAS THERE on wakeup
2:13 = Random jump fierce.
2:15 = Timed your crouching fierce wrong.
2:17 = Haoh’s uppercut isn’t good on wakeup if I recall.
2:18 = And Haoh’s fireball is /never/ good.
2:34 = Some day someone will counter those jumping fierces.
2:37 = Seriously. You just did it again.
2:39 = To mix things up, sj.Fierce.
2:43 = Dizzy combo of c.Fierce… You’re using /Haohmaru/ Even if you don’t know a combo, when they can’t block, why not, you know, standing fierce?
2:46 = Random c.fierce
2:50 = Jump back fierce.
2:51 = Random super.

ok, at 1:58, lol, i have no clue what happended, lol, i thought i had my finger on the back bottom to block, it was wierd, lol. and those random rising tackles were not unpurpose, for soem reason when im crouching ith rock and then i try to go straight into his shining elbow, i guess my the D-pad gets funny on my dreamcast and he does a rising tackle sometimes. it is how i have my finger positioned ont he d-pad at times, when i feel awkward with playing with rock, he is new to me, so i still ahve to get use to how he plays. yeah, i kinda got to stop the randmoness on alot of my attacks, but I am trying to be an aggressive player and do alot of rushdowns.

thanks for the feedback, plz anymore suggestions and help/combos would be lovely.

Aight, there’s probably going to be people in here telling you to use different characters, but please stick with the people you have fun using.

First off quit throwing random fireballs with rock. they should only be used to lure someone in from a distance or as a combo finisher. Rocks st.rh is a very reliable anti-air so quit using rising tacos.

Wake up supers are good against the cpu, but against real competition they will get in close on a knockdown and then block as you wake up super, which will cause you to eat a huge combo.

You are to predictable with ken. Every match you started out with run up cr.mk xx hadouken. Try to mix it up. When they block a cr.rh cancel it with a hadouken or a lk.hurricane to mix it up for position. One of kens best moves is hcf.lk (tap lk). Try to mix it up with shit like cross up mk, cr.lk, cr.lk, cr.lk xx hcf lk for chip damage or a damaging 5 hit combo. Try to use his whole set of moves instead of limiting him to fireball shoryuken traps.

Lastly I didn’t see you JD one time. People who are good with K - Groove can JD like beasts, so practice up on that shit…I’m tired hopefully I helped a little.

Also I hate using Hao, so i can’t really give you any tips except to not use his fireball because it’s fucking horrible.

First, you can’t really be evaluated when you play against the computer. AI and humans are too different. The only thing anyone can say is how good your reactions are and execution. Under you AV it says you live tag is ova2001, if you don’t wanna go to the arcades then i suggest getting cvs2 for XBL, there are some pretty decent people online.

People like me and ren  but on a serious note… You should really try to find some source of competition. CPU won’t really help you at all. The only time I ever play the AI is just to mess around with my rc execution.

training mode > CPU

I have to agree. It’s your execution that needs improvement.

How can you learn from, zone, or punish your opponent when you’re missing nearly every good chance to land a combo?

btw, I only watched match 1. It’s obvious that you’re just really rusty.

You look really rusty. Execution is key to sucess.

I play K groove also and K-Rock as well. Learn to JD, Being able to JD and making your opponent know you can JD is important because they will more cautious in how they attack.

With Rock. jab elbow (qcb+p) is good, never use the fierce one unless you’re doing a combo.
s.RH is a good antiair and don’t be afraid to use it since it will beat most jumpins.
Never throw a fireball with Rock unless its for a pressure string or if you’re doing the Rock trap. A random fireball, with anyone as a matter of fact, will get you killed via Huge Combo.

Other than that, its good to see a player resurface since I wasn’t good when I started and eventually I got better.

hm, thats a good idea, i would get the game for xbox if I can find a controller adapter. either to use a dreamcast or PS2 controller on my xbox.

Go into training mode and practice some simple links. Several times you got an lk xx lp off but you never capitalized on it. Most characters (probably not Haoh though) can like an mp off an lp which can lead to some decent damage when you combo it all with a special. Every bit of damage helps.
