well, for me, i didnt have the right tools…so it was a bitch. Believe it or not, I did this mod with just a standard dremel using a grinding, drilling and cutting bit.
I mounted the stick using an old seimitsu mounting plate that was compatible with the Madcatz SE that was lying around that i didn’t need at the time during a previous mod project i had done. I took the grinding bit from the dremel and started grinding away till the hole on the plate was big enough to fit over the taeyoung fanta.
I then drilled two additional holes on the semitsu plate to match that on the stick itself here:
I then place the modded plate over the existing plate on the stick, and with the same screws from the stick used it to screw it down in place.
the holes on the mounting plate matched up to that inside the stick, and thats how i was able to mount it.
i had to cut away at the stick a little bit in order for the mounting screws to fit tho.
yeah, you can say my method was a tad ghetto, And im sure there could have been a better way for me to go about doing that but if it works than im cool. No complaints here.
Yeah, great job with that SE mod. I wish I had the skills and equipment to do that, I recently got a used SE for a very cheap price and I really don’t need another Japanese style stick.
just received my last order from etoki.com. sof far ur service is the best fo me :), i got no problems at all. starting next year my country (indonesia) have regulation that makes import more expensive, this is bad news for me :(. and i plan to stock some arcade parts from etoki before this month end, so I can received it @ december. could you please update etoki stock ASAP, cause i also excited to see new great stuff from etoki.com
My stick just stopped accepting inputs. At all. It registers on my 360 just fine. HOWEVER, all my button and joystick inputs are unregistered. When I try to hold Start + Select to switch to PS3 mode (secondary on my Saulabi since I dual-modded with an Imp + Madcatz PCB), it still registers in 360 mode.
All the soldering work looks perfectly fine. And it was working very well in a HDR practice session. Just out of nowhere it wouldn’t accept inputs. Unplug it, plug it back in, same thing.
Any thoughts? I’m also going to post this in the 2 PCB’s 1 Stick thread.
EDIT: Fixed it. Ground between the 360 and PS3 boards came loose. That’s why everything seemed fishy to me. If it was the Saulabi board, it wouldn’t interfere with the 360 functions. if it was the Imp, it wouldn’t register the stick at all. I kept looking for loose connections and found none, but just overlooked it.
Ingenuity is figuring out how to make Taeyoung Fanta stick work with a Sanwa mounting plate.
Ghetto would be replacing that stick with a Crayola Marker, some rubber bands and some tin foil in your SE.
Now if you get the later to work like a Taeyoung or a Sanwa you are MacGyver.
I could do the mount but the wiring I’m still noob at doing.
I remember reading somewhere Myoungshin Fanta with hard rubber? Correct me if I’m wrong. I too want a korean stick, just doing a bit more research though. I know laugh can clear this all up. I just want a stick with the same parts as the Green Arcade where Rain and them hangout.
The sticks used in the Green Arcade are Myoungshin Fanta’s, like in every other Korean arcade, I guess But the Green Arcade Myoungshin’s are modded. Well, they’re basically softer (according to idmaxi). So getting a soft rubber would be the easiest way to get a “Green Arcade”-like Myoungshin. You could also mod your stick: open your Myoungshin and make like 8 cuts in the medium rubber ring, to make it softer. I did this and my Myoungshin acts like the Green arcade Myoungshins (looking at JCDR and Ji3moonace’s movement video’s from Idmaxi’s channel), for example, when letting it return to neutral (it wiggles a tiny bit).
Also, it’s a matter of preference, anyway. Some people may not like the softer rubber, instead they prefer a harder rubber for a faster return to neutral and a less loose feeling.
I’ve heard you recommended by some other SRK members and you have a few unique pieces of hardware would help with some joystick issues.
I understand you sell a shaft extender for the LS-32 joysticks which means the LS-32-01 joystick would become usable with vanilla HRAP 3’s.
Would you possibly have connnections for an LS-40 shaft extender or know someone who could manufacture those??? I’ve only seen shaft extenders for the LS-32 and JLF series joysticks when I’ve looked online (Google) and in the SRK forums…
Thanks Milonz/Detron/Laugh. I’ve made my choice. Myoungshin Fanta with a Hard Rubber. And if it’s too tight. Cut some slits into it. I’ll place the order next week. Thanks again.
What you said makes sense. I’ve read and have seen the Aki videos that show the LS-40 shaft covers fit with a little modification on the JLF.
Makes sense the JLF extender would work with the LS-40 since the screw threads are the same among different joystick shafts. After all, the ball handles are interchangeable!
This is something to keep in mind if I decide to use either LS-40 or LS-32 on my HRAP 3’s. The JLF just doesn’t work well with some fighting games… Particularly the older CPS-2/NEO GEO games from the mid-1990s.
