Well. I guess it’s time to start practicing again.
Only looks like 2 new characters though, which is depressing. The game seemed overall pretty solid before though, so … I guess I can’t really say what I’d expect, other than Kano/Mio/Mayu getting a little worse and a few getting a little better.
The most depressing thing about all of this Tasofro news is the fact that it means Touhou is pretty much dead.
Yeah, I’d rather have a finer-tuned Touhou than a new EFZ.
Not sure what to expect from this “upgrade”. It’s a bit late and we’re not seeing Clannad, so why even bother?

when you thought EFZ would stop updating, here comes the new patch so i dont see why Touhou won’t get a new patch in the future, in fact there are like 3 OFF each month in Japan for Touhou so why would they update it while it’s still pretty hot.
and i bet they didn’t add clannad charaacter because:
- They didn’t finish the game themselves cuz Clannad takes you at least 100hours to complete True Ending
- why add new character while they got character like Akiko’s CharSet done like long time ago
- like they said before, they run out of idea of moves for character, and Clannad have like 5 main char and 4~5 sub char.
oh and when EFZ die, there will probably be a Eternal Fighter One(EFO!) or something come out!
More patches for Touhou are likely… the game still has at least 2 bugs that I’ve personally found, I’m sure there are many more that I don’t know about still. There’s also some obvious balance issue still.
What I would really want is an expansion pack, like EFZ got two of. More characters = more variety = more fun, as long as they can keep it reasonably well balanced. Besides that, there’s still a ton of stuff they could do to spruce up the gameplay (adding more systems), and I don’t think anyone could disagree that there are some characters from the series that would make for excelent characters in the fighter (Reisen? There’s no limit to the crazy stuff they could come up with for her).
The reason I felt like Touhou was doomed was some buisness I had heard about with Zun getting really anal about even adding in Meilin. I know he doesn’t want his story fucked around with, but that doesn’t mean other characters can’t exist just inside of arcade/VS mode.
Anyway, that’s enough about Touhou and me being paranoid.
I really like EFZ and everything, but I just could never get the combo system down. The whole idea of hitting them, landing, floating them, combo, repeat. Just a lil’ too odd, eventhough that type of thing is GG, it just doesn’t seem as bad there I guess. The other thing that I have a problem with is that the game is all about getting them trapped in a corner or doing coast-to-coast combos to get them there. I use Makoto and Ayu, though I want to learn how to use the vampire chick as well. Anyways, when this new patch comes out, is there a possibility that it will be hosted, or is this a whole new game by itself? Also, I got a downloaded version of the game, and it has the Kana (the boss) hack. However, when I run the .exe for it and it loads up, I have no idea how to select her. If anyone can help me with my problems and give me some strats for those characters I mentioned, I’d really appreciate it. Also, what is Touhou? I only recently got into the Doujin game scene with MBR, so I know very little. 
I am pretty sure that Tasofro won’t distribute EFZ 4.x as a download. They have released their versions as expansion CDs, though I wouldn’t be surprised that if 4.x is the final version it will be released as a standalone game. But you know how the internet is ? someone will eventually put it in a torrent or something.
Tohou is a series of shooters made by someone else, but worked with Tasofro to make a fighter/shooter hybrid based on the shooter’s characters.
If they do release it as an expansion CD, will it work with the ripped version I have? Or will I have to get the real deal for the expansion to work? As for Tohou fighting thingy, is it any good?
