I’m using Dictator and a buddy keeps putting me in Boxer’s throw loop (occasionally he’ll just combo if the meaty connects).
I’ve read a few different ways to counter this, some say to attempt a throw after getting out of the headbutt as Boxer crosses you up, some say to throw after blocking the meaty. I’ve had very little luck doing either, sometimes I can throw after the headbutts but it’s extremely rare even with me piano tapping throws in anticipation.
Does anyone have a good reliable way to break out of this loop using Dictator? I’ve heard other characters can pull off reversals against it but Dictator’s lacking in the reversal department.
The most usual trap is either j.attack or walk-under crossup after the initial throw. If j.attack, reversal throw after blocking or Devil’s Reverse (haven’t tried it, but might work) . If walk-under>cr.Forward, reversal throw after blocking. Now, there’s lots of other things Balrog can do, such as whiffed Upper into throw, but you’ll just have to keep your eyes open and counter as needed.
I’ve been trying to throw him first after blocking the meaty punch after he crosses me up but I’ve had some bad luck. It seems like counter-throwing works only sometimes. Most of the time after the meaty punch he’s already close enough to throw me. Is there still something I’m missing here?
The devil’s reverse will work, you have to time it right though.
And it doesn’t matter that your throw range is larger than Rog’s, once he’s got you in the loop it all comes to chance whether you can out throw him. If you both throw at the same time, it’s random who wins.
