How is this guy a bad cop? He saw a man becoming disobedient and he contained the situation, albeit poorly. It’s illegal for NYPD to use choke holds and the paramedics should have had their equipment ready. Still, the guy was under arrest and didn’t comply. If he had he’d still be alive.

You do know that before all artists moved into Williamsburg and Bushwick they were shit neighborhoods, right? Bedford was nothing but empty warehouses until the city permitted housing there. Artists moved there for cheap loving and built it into a thriving street with local businesses.
Same in Bushwick. Once artists moved there you saw businesses pop up, crime drop DRASTICALLY, more community programs, cleaned up Maria Hernandez park, and renovated housing.
You can say what you want but your people don’t do shit to NY neighborhoods except make them awful. Downtown Brooklyn, Bedstuy, Prospect Park, all made measurably better when people like me moved in.

Using a rear naked choke to control a person on the ground makes no sense, once he was subdued there was no need to keep applying it so why do it?
It seems that the person was one of those idiots that “trains in MMA” without understanding what the things he does actually do to people.
The thing about a rear naked choke is that it cuts off air circulation fairly quickly. When applied properly its something like than 7 seconds (don’t remember the exact time). So if he actually understood what he was doing, he would’ve let go of the choke once the guy was grounded since, with all the support, he wasn’t going anywhere.
Basically an epidemic of cops never training in a real gym with people who know how to teach
I seriously think cops should take mandatory mma, boxing, muay thai, judo, wrestling classes
Because you have a bunch of people who don’t know how to handle themselves and hold back in advantagous situations or know different methods of subduing people

The fact that it happens at all is a problem. The cigarette part is irrelevant because as said earlier they weren’t arresting him for doing it. The guy who filmed the ordeal said he was breaking up a fight which is trying to help his community regardless of how small it was. They keep talking about this cigarette shit like he was some big time drug trafficker. And if putting your hands in the air, not fighting and saying don’t touch me when you aren’t being charged is resisting then we all are in serious fucking trouble

What more than likely happened is there was a fight he broke up, police came afterwards as usual, recognized him for selling cigs before and started giving him shit. He gets upset because he was trying to do the right thing and was still being harrased. Scared cops couldn’t maintain their composure and felt the need to attack even with no threat and killed someone. They try to argue he was probably still selling without proof which is why it says ALL EDGELY
But since he sold loose cigarettes in the past that’s all that matters because he was such a threat to the community selling legal cigarettes illegally…
A problem all cleared up if he had just allowed the cop to cuff him, hold him a bit, see that no charges were coming his way, and he would have been let go.

You’re seeing shit that didn’t happen, when did anyone of them pull out cuffs and say what they were detaining him for? All you saw was a guy get surrounded’ tackled and choked to death. The entire ordeal would have been over if they asked what happened and said oh there was fight, its over good. You selling cigareetes again? No ok bye…

Don’t you see the guy trying to get him to stop getting emotional? I don’t know how often you’ve been on the field as a cop but I know for a fact they are told not to let a situation get out of hand. How are they to know the guy won’t start swinging on them? Hindsight is one hell of a motherfucker.
There can be no peace without justice. Those cops must be firmly reprimanded in writing and their time off must be without compensation, or this cycle of violence will never end.
I want to feel bad for this guy. I really do.
But seeing black people getting fucked by the police is something I’ve been so overly desensitized to that I’ve become mired in apathy towards it.

I don’t know WTF is going on up in NY state/city, but between this and some of the other stories I’ve read in the news, and the small town-based stories some of my friends/family told me when I was visiting back home in Buffalo a few weeks ago, there’s some SERIOUS racial tensions going on up there. What the hell is going on up in the northeast?
I feel it’s a better use of your time to focus your energy not on the symptoms of this cancerous society, but the underlying source.
