Enter the Chaos Dimension! Shuma-Gorath Combo thread

What is the infinite please?

if I could channel angelic for a moment, I’m honestly not seeing anything of use here.

Also I’m having trouble getting more than 860-880k with shuma/vergil starting with one bar. There has to be a way to ToD with these guys

Heres a vid I used to get some 1.mil TOD combo ideas with Shuma/Vergil by Hypnawtik awhile back. It shows how to 1.mil hit confirm from Cmd grab mid screen and corner, Raw tag 1.mil hit confirm and 1.mil hit confirm from a TAC. Most of the TODs have Shuma on point with one bar and mid screen and they are very practical. Hope it helps you get the ball rolling.

Yes I’ve seen hypnawtik’s vid, has a lot of cool stuff in it but only the first combo is really a midscreen/anywhere combo and it starts with two bars. Seems like you’re maxed out at 860k-ish without using a TAC.

Are you still using shuma/vergil? I’ve been playing around with judgement cut assist, seeing if it can be used similar to dark hole.

P. Gorath, I think I have the ToD you’re looking for… but I can’t actually vouch for it’s damage since my execution isn’t good enough to pull the whole thing off in one combo, especially with Vergil doing the heavy lifting as a character I don’t use much at all. But after trying some of the parts individually to see how metergain total looks, I’m pretty sure it’s legit and can crack 9k if not 1mil damage with it’s components. Since it’s based off the Hard Tag finisher for Shuma’s basic BnB and Vergil’s static-hitstun options, it can be done anywhere off any throw at any height and most grounded confirms (though you’ll of course lose between 100k-150k damage if it was a normal groundthrow or an airthrow thanks to hitstun issues). Went with the basic grounded one for this combo…

cr.LLMH S j.M H-Smash, s.L cr.M(1 hit) cr.H L-Stare (Dash if necessary) S j.M H S. – Hard tag to Vergil, holding L. (If opponent is still midscreen instead of near the corner, dash) cr.H Stinger M-Trick cr.H S H RoundTrip cr.H L-J.Cut cr.H SpiralSwords – dash, Helmbreaker, Helmbreaker, RoundTrip cr.H L-J.Cut cr.H SpiralSwords – LunarPhase, RoundTrip cr.H LunarPhase, HighTime, DimensionSlash.

Also, i don’t know if you’ve found a better groundthrow yet or what your current groundthrow combo is… but maybe this’ll help. Since groundthrows keep a lot more hitstun than airthrows, my combo of choice off them is this;

Groundthrow (either direction), H-Ray, dashing L cr.M S j.M(one hit) H-Smash, s.L cr.M(1 hit) cr.H L-Stare (Finisher combo of choice)

If ya want any more info, i can try to piece more things together for ya.

Finally pulled off the combo, or at least a variant of it… With Vergil doing the first Spiral Swords loop as Lunar Phase, Round Trip cr.H L-J.Cut, going into another Lunar Phase instead of cr.H and just finishing with High Time to Dimension Slash, you can DHC Shuma back in with a mashed Hyper Mystic Smash to crack 1 million even with the tame Shuma starter mentioned earlier (1.035m to be exact). Requires Vergil being second instead of anchor, though. However, though Shuma’s throw combos may do less damage, both throws and more advanced Shuma strings can get you noticeably more meter which can allow you to cut out the executional middleman by skipping Swords entirely and running into a DHC chain from Vergil to put him on anchor spot with Shuma on point again. Still trying to piece together a combo that allows you to both start and end with Anchor Vergil, though…

Once I figure out how to use this capture card I got, i’ll probably try to get a video up of how the combo looks so you can have a visual reference. The aformentioned throw/advanced combos for everywhere too. Likely combined with a bunch of the silly ways I can get Frank to L5 with or without meter using Shuma/Haggar. Ah, but that’ll be later anyways.

I don’t think you’d have enough meter for two spiral swords, a dimension slash and a dhc back to shuma with that combo though…are you even building enough meter for the dimension slash?

My current strategy is just to use the TAC combo if I don’t have enough meter, and bnb w/ mystic ray ender into sword loops if I do

Ah, I meant skipping the second Spiral Swords so that your super chain ends up going Swords, Slash, Smash (Heh). And getting the dimension slash meter is a bit tricky but doable, basically the effort you didn’t go for getting meter with Shuma during his part has to be inked out with Vergil using tougher post-Swords extensions. Currently doublechecking just how much meter the segments I’ve been trying give.

E: Yeah, it can most certainly be done. The trick for building the 3rd meter for a Dimension Slash to a 2nd-character DHC is to let Swords run itself out before your Round Trip. So your swords looks like Swords, Lunar Phase, walk backwards, release Round Trip as the 2nd-to-last sword hits, roundtrip combo. Even just going cr.H straight to Lunar Phase there, you get just enough meter with the High Time to hit L2 again

E2: Hmm… actually, it looks like skipping the judgement cut opens the possibility of not getting enough Round Trip hits, which can end you with just barely not enough meter to get a 3rd bar.

alright, I got 2 jabs away from the third bar, and the combo was at 911,700 by that point, so tack on the dimension slash and you get over 1 mil

…but i did a much shortened vergil opener than you laid out, so I’ll see what of that I can add in…

alright, easiest version to pull off so far (start w/ 1 bar) is: shuma bnb, hard tag vergil, dash while eyeballs explode, cr. H, stinger, M trick, cr. H, S, H, round trip, cr. H, L judgement cut, cr. H xx swords, lunar phase, cr. H, L judgement cut, lunar phase, high time, dimension slash, hyper mystic ray. Does 1.023 mil. Doing more sword loops will get you more damage, but for me, the fewer I have to do the better.

I’d like to figure out a good combo starting from L stare. I’m definitely using it a lot more these days

oh dont worry about spencer/task…i know exactly how shuma compliments them…lol…i just need to learn the raw tag combo so i can tag in spencer and do a bunch of extra damage

what should be my basic combo to learn his combo system? like as far as when to charge etc…
then whats a more advanced solo combo or with tasky arrows at most…i would like to save my spencer assist for when i raw tag him in, so that i can use mystic ray assist for an extra 80k grapple

i expect to do most of my work in the corner…call arrows, follow them in until i push them to the corner…etc…so command grab combo would be nice too…is it possible to setup the command grab combo to do a raw tag also? that would be nuts…im seeing the damage possibilities…if i can do 600 with shuma no bar, raw tag spencer, and do his part of the combo…im looking at maybe 1.0-1.1 mil with 1 bar…excited…lol

Shuma is more about being relentless, varied, and smart. He can’t really go nuts without playing HIS game so I’d still suggest learning the approach and a basic bnb, from there you’ll see where you can mix it up.

Found something for ya that works no matter how far away they were hit with the stare… even if only a single eyeball at the tip poked 'em. Damage may not be impressive if you didn’t start in the corner, but it’s still something and can lead into the usual post-stare setups for resets/meterburning. This is for grounded opponents only, though… i’m still trying to find a consistant-from-all-ranges air variant.

L-Stare (dash if necessary to close the gap) cr.MH, dj.MM(all hits) L-Smash, s.LM(1hit) cr.H M-Stare -> Finisher

Doesn’t do a whole lot of damage and I’m sure it can be optimized, but the first thing I tried was: L stare, c.l c.m c.h launcher, j.m (delay this until close to maximum launcher height), H mystic smash (eyeballs explode), L mystic stare into whatever.

And now I have an air L-Stare midscreen conversion from any range that at least has something resembling consistancy.

L-Stare, (dash if necessary) S j.M (slight delay) M (slight delay again) H (longer delay) 8H L-Smash. L-Stare as they come down, S etc etc. If you launched them high off the first stare, you can do MMH8H M-Stare and have enough time to charge a stare on the other side for a sideswitch variant instead.

It’s consistant on the buttons, but the timing has to be varied depending on where and when you hit, of course… but it’s something you can at least enter into muscle memory, and perhaps pull off consistantly enough.

I’m having trouble with the air mystic smash. I just started playing shuma on stick and I’m not sure what I’m getting wrong. I can do jump cancel combos with him in the corner and storm’s as well.

You guys have any tips?

Are you letting the stick go back to neutral position (5) B4 you enter the command?
