English vs Japanese voices (Explain why)

English because I like understanding what people are saying. That and it’s mostly the voices I grew used to while playing Persona 4, Troy Baker = Kanji to me.

I tend to like the characters to speak the language they actually speak. Sadly, this isn’t usually an option - for SSFIV, for example, it usually results in ‘Western’ characters speaking English and ‘Eastern’ ones speaking Japanese.

Ideally, though, El Fuerte would speak Spanish, Ken English, Juri Korean, Honda Japanese, etc…

Sometimes, though (Soul Calibur V) the English acting, or script, is so awful I switch it to Japanese. Ignorance can be bliss…

shoutouts to tekken. they do it to a degree at least.

I hate both the options, I’d prefer they were silent, the ‘navigator’ is bad enough.

just turn it down in options…? you can turn voices down.

I know the navigator can be turned off but I won’t be a dick and ask others to turn off the voices all together.

Just another annoyance on my list of shit I’ll have to deal with lol

on ttt2 everyone speaks their native language :open_mouth:

i do wonder if there is a game that doesn’t have something for you to complaint about, lol.

yeah navigator has volume, so do character voices.
also yeah you’ll have to deal with it one way or another i think.

It’s a personality trait of mine I hate, trust me.

:frowning:

I know that in Tekken 6 Leo was not speaking german, hence my statement, but I just checked TTT2 Leo she said “Überlass das mir Partner” in my face, so you’re right. That’s pretty awesome! I always loved that about Tekken and now they perfected it! good job namco!

Tho, Lei and Zafina speak english and I dunno why. For Law it makes sense since he lives in america, but isn’t Lei a chinese policemen? Lars also speaks japanese instead of swedish. Well anyway - it’s still awesome.

Nice to hear about TTT2 - TTT was the last Tekken game I played in anger (actually, I’ve only ever played T2 & TTT seriously), so maybe I’ll give it a spin.

And isn’t Lei from Hong Kong (a British territory until 1997) - in which case it makes sense he may speak English…

Japanese coz thats what I had the games on >.> and I also watched the anime with japanese voices.

Plus the english voices are fuckin annoying… Teddie sounds like a retarded Mickey Mouse that talks shit, Aigis’ says “my armor” nonstop, and S-Lab has a lame accent and simply isnt as awesome…

If I may chime in, the “all-or-nothing” voice selection needs to go away. I can’t be the only one who loves English Kanji, but prefers Japanese Labrys, can I? Individual voice selection is one of the few brilliant ideas Capcom has had this past generation…

I’m using JP voices, BTW.

  • nevermind

But since we are faced with 3 choices

English
Japanese
Fuck it all

What’s your pick?

Pretty sure you quoted his answer.

yeah…I dont have Persona…but its all about authenticity with me…its a Japanese game, so i want to play it like it was originally intended.

sad thing is that the persona games that are released outside of japan are on english - damn you ps2 dvd limitation to not include both voices.

gladly there are great ps2 emulators and people who created UNDUB versions of the games.

I don’t play these types of games because I have sex.

I only switch to Japanese if the dubbing is shit. It’s not in this game so I keep it in English.
