I’ve been wanting to paint elena for awhile and I don’t feel like i can ever do her justice.
the name says it all.

You gotta learn how to see in simple shapes. Overall not bad for a guy who fishes all day.
hahha I know. I should have known better even after reading about Sargent.BTW you should try the hard pastel on canvas brush. QUite nice.
2nd try.
SFMC, how do i paint the hair to make it look morelike hair, and …nto like what I have here. Should it be mroe saturated?
The saturation is good dfist. The thing I see is that you have more of a shadow and a light. The midtones are something you are missing. Keep the highlights tighter because because if you pop it everywhere it will get real flat.
Check out these badly rendered tittayssss
in the last pic her breast looks kinda flat - I think there needs to be a less sudden fade to the shadow tone?
besides that, I like this pic best of the three, btw.
I think emphasizing a few strands of hair here and there helps hair to look better. Using a fine stroke, start at the scalp and don’t stop until you’ve reached the tip of the mass.
ooo thx for catching on the breast rook. It is her left one you are talking about right?
uh… it’s the one we can see more of. The one closer to the left side of the pic. Her right mammary.
That looks pretty good. I’m friends with a huge Elena fan. I gotta show’em that. He’ll love it…
drawn by apathy-inc.
wow your painting is getting better and better. Keep at it!
not elena but…
I realize i’m lacking alot of values.
like i said, phong, your best asset is your coloring.
your drawings are still…
…questionable.
pay more attention to facial anatomy and angles. you have a recurring problem with angles. i’ve already discussed to you that you need to work on seeing figures in simple shapes, like rectangles or circles (like how i do it, ala’ bart sears…).
your faces are still flat. there is no…3d structure underneath…still flat, i say.
map out a head by imagining the parts as rectangular boxes or spheres. pr something…
yeah. Apathy-Inc’s drawing is great. your coloring’s great, too!
Dread, you know I’ve always been a fan of your work. I agree w/ Rook and SFMC on the advice. But I noticed something in the 2nd attempt of Elena… the hair is so black that it’s like somewhat extracting her skintones. It’s weird like, her hair has black shadow, but her skin doesn’t, which makes it kinda clash, you know what I mean. It’s like the blue in her eyes are so rich, but to have that black in the hair kinda cancels that out. I just think you might wanna ease up on the black and use a darker tone of color, w/o losing it’s saturation.
thx for the tip kandoken and …THAI! Good to know you like SOMETHING I do!
