It’s not that st lk isnt a true block string the problem is that you probably joined a lobby with a yellow bar that shows up green when your in their lobby or vice versa when you host a lobby. I find that those matches people mash through lp lynx tail and st lk lynx tail. But when I join lobbies with green bars I don’t have that problem and I get counter hits. St lk makes people want to stand up for some reason. I don’t host lobbies because Elena is so frame perfect and non green bars just takes away from her game and make her more negative on block.
Playing online affects input delay. It does not affect frame data. It’s basically like playing on a bad HDTV.
They are not mashing through the Lynx Tail itself. They are blocking st.LK and focusing before the Lynx Tail hits.
st.LK deals a whopping 8 frames of blockstun. L and M Lynx Tail have 10 frames of startup. Do the math and then slap yourself for making dumb assumptions.
Looks like we got an E Thugger. yeah your right i guess that’s why a grappler can spd after hp mallet smash i also guess that’s why ken can spam dp or cody and trolento are so good because even if it’s lagging frame data isn’t effected oh wait… your Elena is very basic hell you couldn’t even react to a rose fireball… so when someone that’s plays the character better then you takes time to give you pointers show respect you wanker
I tried to find some footage of your masterful Elena, but the only result was someone getting bopped by a 1000PP Cody on XBL.
Sorry, but no.
Lol yea I remember that match!
Yeezus walks is my grinding profile Godofperfection is my main profile you probably follow me lol
Oh wow lol. Anyways thanks fir the info sprint I’ve been using st.lk in of cr.lp but i want to break that habit. Just gotta practice a bit with cr.lp xx lt. I think the spacing is a lot better if you don’t use st.lk in your block strings. But like I gotta remember not to rely on st.lk xx lt.
@sprint that method for lt seems pretty good. I think I’m going to use it.
Who are the best Elena players on PSN?
I’m not really sure I haven’t really come across any good ones in a while. Kited17 has a good Elena although I haven’t played him in a while. As does qq frenzy I thinj there’s an underscore.
Thanks
Just looked back at my post about cr.LP xx Lynx Tail and realised I should probably clarify why this statement is important:
Some characters can punish Lynx Tail on block if you do it close enough to hit their standing animation, but you are safe on block if you do it from so far away that it will only hit them crouching.
From that range, cancelling a normal into Lynx Tail means:
- If the normal catches them crouching, Lynx Tail will connect. Knockdown on hit, safe on block.
- If the normal catches them standing, Lynx Tail whiffs and you might be in for some pain.
- If the normal whiffs, Lynx Tail doesn’t come out as long as you don’t accidentally negative edge it.
So from this range:
If you do st.LK xx Lynx Tail when the opponent is standing, it clips their feet and you whiff a Lynx Tail in front of them.
If you do cr.LP xx Lynx Tail when the opponent is standing, cr.LP whiffs and Lynx Tail doesn’t come out.
You also know that the opponent isn’t crouching at that specific moment without having to react.
Can someone explain how Sako catches Yang after the usual combo with a SW here (around 17:40):

I’ve tried to get it done in training and couldn’t pull it off. Which kick is it here? Is it corner dependent? Do I just suck?
Going to NEC this weekend don’t have nearly enough practice time (too much work). Oh well I’ll be in the building dafeetlee is in my pool.
Went 0-2 lost to hakan and cody. I really wish I played on 360. Oh wells.
I can’t view the video, but if you’re talking about Scratch Wheel after Spin Scythe, then it’s character specific. Sprint created a huge list detailing everything, including which version of each special you should use, that you can view in the first post of the combo thread.
I’m beginning to question whether U2 is really the superior ultra. For the grappler match-ups it makes obvious sense to use U2 but in many other match-ups I find myself picking U1. U1 does tons of damage and is really easy to combo into. Healing gives up momentum to gain a little bit of life and it’s cancelled 90% of the time (sometimes you even get hit and/or knocked down in the process). The fact you have to give up momentum after a knockdown is what bothers me most.
Heavy Lynx Tail into Cancelled Ultra 2 does not cost any momentum. You have time to do it and still hit the opponent meaty.
Unless you land it raw, a fully charged Ultra 1 typically adds about 150 damage compared to a standard combo using the same meter. You lose all momentum because it leaves the opponent half a screen away, which is fine if it’s going to kill, but otherwise it’s awful.
A half-charged and cancelled Ultra 2 heals slightly over 100HP. There are way more opportunities to use it than Ultra 1, and any HP you gain goes towards building another one. Using it twice per round is pretty typical.
With a few matchup exceptions, on average Ultra 2 recovers more HP per round than Ultra 1 deals per round.
Exceptions:
- Anti-divekick U1. It just about reaches the distance that divekick characters like to jump around like idiots. It has a horrible tendency to trade, but it’s great when it works.
- Characters that can punish a cancelled U2 from full screen.
- El Fuerte. Might be worth picking U1 to raw punish Q-Bomb on block.
I see, thanks.

My sets against Snakeeyez and Chris T when I was at NEC
Can anyone guide me on how they do 3x cr.LP into either LK/HK Lynx Tail?
My problem is that I get Spin Scythe or even Scartch Wheel at times. I’ve been looking at videos of Elena players and they pull it off consistently.
Thank you for your reply and I’m looking forward to spend more time in the lab (:
