Players at risk from game store hack

More than 10 million people thought to have accounts with Electronic Arts’s (EA) Origin game store are at risk from a hack attack that swaps games for malicious code, researchers say.

In lab experiments, the researchers exploited a loophole in the way Origin handles links to games users have downloaded and installed to make it run code that compromised a target machine.

There is no evidence the loophole has yet been used by malicious hackers.

EA is investigating the vulnerability.

I asked, not told people that they shouldn’t buy shitty games from shitty publishers. I don’t expect anything out of anyone, especially since the holy trinity of CoD, Madden, and AssCreed still print money without really doing anything new.
Also, if I would buy American if anything in this damn country were still manufactured here rather than in some God forsaken Chinese sweatshop, but that’s what our world is-people being taken advantage of by other people- just like EA takes advantage of people who can’t live without “Dat Madden” every year and can’t be arsed to do anything other than a glorified roster update.

Imagine what would happen if every Madden fan took one year off from buying it… Look at what happened with Capcom and DmC. They fucked up and people let them know they fucked up by not buying the game… that’s the kind of power the consumer holds.
I’m just trying to wake people up to how much power their wallets actually contain.

Or don’t. Whatever. Let me know how it turns out when EA owns every publisher under the sun and all games are homogeneous, ad-filled, always online even in single player, yearly updates filled with microtransactions and DLC for shit that used to be unlockable, and people are still stupid enough to buy them… oh wait, we’re already there. SMH.

Madden will never be as good as it used to be until it can actually get some competition. Supposedly this year is the last year for exclusivity rights unless EA drops that money to extend it. 2K sports didn’t have to buy exclusivity for Basketball, they just did good work with their franchise and look where Live is.

What ever happened to the Live series. I heard they were making a new one to try to compete with 2K, and then they changed their minds…Rightfully so
