OK guys. I know everyone has been looking for the Elecom JC-PS101USV converter. Know that everyone wants one to confirm if it really works on a PS3. So I went to the User-Side store here in Sunnyvale to see if they had it since they import japanese electronics. They even had a Original JPN copy of Third Strike so you know I grabed that. Anyways back to the topic.
They said they could order some as some were not in stock. Shipping would take about a week or two. They are not sure on cost yet. Not sure if this will be worth it since Feb is not too far away with the release of the Pelican converter. What do you guys think? I also know that the Fighting Stick will be released for only $50 here in the US in Feb also. Should I check out the Elecom anyway or just hope the Pelican doesn’t lag when it is released?
I went ahead and ordered 2 from Stridajin from Tekken Zaibatsu. Don’t have the PS3 yet, but will eventually get around to it. For the time being, I’ll just play at my friend’s place.
I got my 6 elecom adapters from Stridajin today and they also work with every stick I own. I tested it with my cigarbob cabinet, hrap, hrap2, US t5 stick, sfac stick, and a custom stick with a ps1 pcb.
Good news, the Elecom adapter works with Tekken 5 DR. The bad news is that I cannot use PS2/1 mode using the stick. I do not know how to bypass the “press PS button” function.
I guess I should of waited for the Nyko adapters because if they work with the Guitar Hero guitars, then they would work with the joystick.
Well when I go to PS2/PS1 emulation mode, I cannot detect the joystick when I want to play an older PS2 game. The PS3 is required to press the “Playstation button” to activate “Dualshock2 emulation.”
In the basic ps3 digital gamepad mode in a PS3 coded game, the digital movement is just great though but cannot navigate via the XMB using a RAP 1.
Stridajin hangs out in Tekken Zaibatsu and my advice is please wait for the Nyko adapters since the adapter will be out in a few weeks.
The other advantage of the Elecom adapters is that they work in my old Thinkpad and my Radio Shack “PSX to USB” would not work at all.
if you have the means, mod a dualshock pcb in your stick and wire a button to the analog mode button on the pcb. when the analog button is lit, vf5 will work with the elecom.
