El Fuerte Matchups and Strategies v.2 ***Updated 02APR10***

Abel’s Souless beats ultra spark… Here’s what happened:
Ultra Freeze on Abel, Ultra Spark gets executed as soon as ultra freeze is over.
punch lands, fuerte endures a shit load of dmg.

Well. I know target combo is useless as a combo. But I believe otherwise as a poke. Far s mk is respectfully quick and got some range. It’s followup has less range but comes out quick too.

we gotta think outside the box for this one fellas, perhaps it can lead to conditioning for shower kick.

It’s good to see more guys come back here. Now where’s skisonic…

Buktooth, what characters have you been testing the RSF on? I noticed that on Makoto and Juri especially, that the pushback makes it hard to do the RSF, but on the old cast it seems about the same to me. Dudley is easy as to RSF imo. I can get 4-5 hits on him pretty consistently and I’m not that good at RSF to begin with.

I close my eyes when I start RSFing juri, eyeballs cannot be trusted!

hmm. when i do RSFs now i end up way farther away after the third fierce, which tells me that im going much too fast. i have to let fuerte run substantially farther to remain close, which makes the link timing much more strict

i could be crazy, though

Its crazy to hear the mixed thoughts on RSF … I feel that you have to time a bit different … I feel like it does push a bit , but i can still do between 6 - 10 consistently on just about the whole cast … 6 minimum … You not crazy lol maybe just too fast

Vs Cammy -
Cammy’s U1 beats Ultra Spark (If Ultra Spark is done second, I haven’t tested it the other way, but I would expect that she beats Fuerte on reaction as well.)

Vs Honda -
Any of his buttslams on block can be hit with U2 - but if you get the spacing right (he lands right on top of you basically) you can also U2 him and if he ands on you at all he gets caught up in it. I found the first way is safer to do though.

I feel like RSF is basically the same, I haven’t noticed it being all that different.

As far as using U2 on Akuma, I have regularly landed it with auto correct on his demon flip mix-ups on wake-up. It seems like it may be worth it if only to ensure he isn’t throwing those out, but I also haven’t fought too many Akuma’s in Super yet.

It wouldn’t surprise me if i was wrong. But thats the way it feels to me. All the same, next time im at home ill load up my PS3 vanilla copy and my Xbox super copy and test it out. Then ill do vice versa and see what i get.

I gave RSF a single try yesterday and got 3 hits pretty easily. Won’t be doing much more though due to my hand injury.

I need to figure out Ibuki. Got trashed by one last night because she’s just as mobile if not even more so than us. One character that can run around just as well is not something I’m used to yet. That slide messes up any sloppy run attempts and she can irritate with kunais as well.

She has crappy footsies and her wake-up options aren’t good as well.

You can bait her dash into a free throw or ultra 2 punish in the corner.

Her only invincible wake up option is dash which is punishable by grabs/ultra 2 or her EX DP kick that’s easily baited.

But yeah, once you get into her vortex of doom - ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch - so much stun and damage.

Anybody have tips against Dudley? Short swing blow compromises our wakeup game.

Ibuki matchup is going to be all about pressure from either side, kind of like Viper but maybe a bit worse (I consider Viper matchup even). I try not to run too much since the neck breaker is too fast and can be a start to her very annoying vortex. I found jump back with FP to be handy as it punishes her attempt of a neck breaker, mostly avoids her kunai, and gives you a chance to turtle a bit till the chance comes to punish any mistake she does and start your own vortex on her.

Here is a video uploaded by our good friend Stevercakes against a very solid Ibuki, very tense matchup:

@dfyb: I still have not fought any decent Dudleys who know the matchup, but have you tried Qbomb or dropkicks against his short swing blow? I will try and do some testing in training later on today to see what can beat it. EDIT: And have you tried regular throw on it as well?

I swear akashwan is my homeboy.

Qbomb beats short swing blow and cross countah

but I think it loses to that %#^>?*$& uppahcawt as does meaty slide.

Gief said it best; what? Dragon punches? Yeah, those suck too.

Crouching jab and slide are good against Dudley. The jab for stopping his approaches AND stopping the starting frame of his uppercut. Slide for beating out cross counter and his machine blow moves. Uppercut beats out the slide, but I normally use it when I’m away from sweep range. That way, I’m safe if he doesn’t go for a random machine blow or charge, while not taking a reaction uppercut.

I don’t know if anybody’s mentioned this earlier, but Ibuki told me to contribute anyway. When Cody unleashed his U2 one night I tried to counter it w/ Ultra Spark, but ended up getting sand kicked up in my face and before I knew it I was hanging from the invisible corner of the screen.

so apparently ibuli’s attack grab(raida i think) can beat ultra 2. i tried using ultra 2 aftrer a block cr.hk to beat a normal grab and ibuki attack grab cleanly beat my ultra

Non-EX? seems like they would have to be throwing that out before the Ultra comes out in order for it to work but I don’t know the frame data on it.

I wish man , but sad to say … Ibuki can do any version of that grab to knock it out … she has to sorta time it … if she mashed it out then U2 catches … most of the time anyway … i feel U2 is still useful in this matchup though

Random fact :
you CAN NOT reversal Juris U2 with Ultra spark by the way either … you can jump forward to make it whiff

Good to see you posting again campbell

Why would you say to use U1 on akuma? I have found that match to be a lot easier now with U2 tbh, I can punish teleports alot easier now without having to guess which buttons that they hit, he can’t press low mk or sweep now unless he has ultra backing it up, U1 is useless to anti air him so I dunno what you know about U1 that I don’t in that match but I’d love to find out.

@Densou: anytime bro :smiley:

I will try and compile a list soon of which ultras can be punished with a reversal Spark after the ultra freeze, hopefully within a couple of days.
