El Fuerte Matchups and Strategies v.2 ***Updated 02APR10***

I just recently saw the [media=youtube]w3QNE6gybSk&feature=related"[/media] match again.

I’m so curious as to whether Blanka’s Ultra 1 can be punished after you hop over it, like TKD did several times during this match.

TKD seems plays it safe and does not attempt to punish. Then again, I don’t know if it is possible to punish Blanka’s ultra after hopping over it.

Ultra spark doesn’t combo. It be a grab.

One of Brainz videos shows him hitting blanka out of ultra one with a properly spaced level 3 focus attack.

Mind you that is vanilla, and thus, it may not apply anymore. I prefer dodge, taunt.

i have been testing this … Hakan can use his [D + ppp] to shut down some / most … if not all of our pressure options … be careful amigos :frowning:

Fuerte can now do Fierce, Run, Stop, Target Combo. “3 Hit Combo Good”

A lot of the new cast are giving me grief. Our defensive options are still weak, so good pressure (Juri/Ibuki/Guy/Dudley come to mind) still chews us pretty bad. Of those four chars, its really hard finding punishable openings.

In the final round of the match, TKD and Mizoteru have very low health. A single c.mk would kill Blanka, and a throw would kill El Fuerte.

TKD starts up a splash just before Blanka initiates his Ultra I. TKD hops over the Ultra I. TKD watches Blanka’s Ultra I from the far other side.

He ends up winning by stuffing Mizoteru’s command dash with a slide.

I can’t help but think that TKD could have just as easily lost that match. I’m not very good at understanding the finer workings of mindgames or “the game away from the screen,” so please correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like the slide was a lucky guess.

There’s gotta be something that beats Blanka’s whiffed Ultra I…right?

Other than being in the right spacing to EX leg grab blanka while he’s bouncing… i don’t think so. his recovery is fast and i guess you could chase him down with a run (i think i’ve done this before) but a good blanka would probably be charging and smack you hard for it.

Dudley’s Rolling Thunder can be snuffed by slide – at least, a slide I already input before ultra flash and hit at far distance and near beginning of ultra. (basically, if he throws it out from the other side of the screen…). probably not too useful but fyi

Juri- Qbomb the bitch. Sweep her while knocked down. Stay on her ass. Since fireball shenanigans are annoying without burning meter. Charge q-bomb. Bait out pinwheel with run > backstep. If she jumps, sudden stop, stand by to punish dive kick.

Ibuki- qbomb kunais thrown off her jumping kick thing. Floor the bitch, then keep her floored. Anytime she jumps guac that shit. Do your shenanigans first.

Keep her far away from you. All her crap from afar is telegraphed and punishable.

Guy - yeah he a jerk. Guac his jumps and hurricane kick I think drop kick is important here.

Duds - bait and punish jet uppers to encourage cross countah. Then start doing walkup grab / empty jump cross ups / qbomb / sweep to own cross countah.

Windbreaka- stop trying to beat it. You can beat it with ex guac. But dodging it completely counts as beating it too. Just block the damn thing then get your free punish.

Seems you can slide under Cody’s rocks if you’re pretty close

if you do far c. rh and they block on the last frames of the slide and spam throw, they have to tech or get thrown correct?

How about blocked c. rh -> ultra spark?

c.rh -> U2 is jumpable unfortunately. Useful if you train them to tech the throw after c.rh, as you get to ultra their tech attempt.

I had a really dirty match with a friend of mine. I mustve done like 20 c.rh -> throw’s, and then we were at about 30% hp each in the final round and i went for the c.rh -> U2 and caught his tech attempt.

As one lucha to another, that shit is orgasmically satisfying.

cross over splash against cross counter is safe and free damage, I love this game.

Tried a few things against Cody:

  • If you do an immediate max range wall jump, then criminal upper would win always, just like Densou mentioned. BUT, I noticed that if you do a max range wall jump from the highest point with fp, you will either have a favorable trade or completely win even against ex criminal upper. Can’t 100% confirm yet, but this happened a lot to me so far.

  • as for lk ruffian kick, dropkick is a good way to handle it. for mk ruffian kick, if you are a good distance away, you can use dropkick on reaction to beat it, but if the range is too close or you mistime it a bit, you get hit. Kind of the same with hk ruffian, but its slightly easier to handle with dropkick since its range is less than mk ruffian. st.mk seems to be a hit or miss in stuffing it.

  • Try not to do too much FA against Cody when close, since mk ruffian is pretty fast and is an armor breaker, with a decent range.

vs T.Hawk -
condor dive can be stuffed by far RH and you can also U2 on block . you can U2 his condor spire the same as well . i feel jump in RH is very useful in this matchup because you can hit him where jump in Fierce wont . im going to do more testing :slight_smile:

FYI for fuertes who like doing jHP, st.HP xx hdash xx slide… you still warp through cammy and now also ibuki as well…

Need to work on RSFing or just going for mix up splash :-/

Not sure if its been mentioned but you can grab juri out of her pinwheel animation ala shoryuken. She’s a huge push over.

I’m currently not doing well vs deejay, his flash kick move stuffs mixup well cannot safe tortilla to my knowledge… enter mind games! I’m still winning but the matches are far closer than id like.

Yeah I mentioned ultra 2 on condor dive. Thanks for seconding. I must reiterate WATCH thawks hieght when you blocked it to properly time ultra 2. Ultra 1 SHOULD get him too.

I don’t know if anyone knows this yet, I dropkicked an aerial kunai from ibuki and it stopped it from hitting me lol.

anybody else feel like it may be easier for splash to lose to lariat now?

I slid under honda’s U1 (slide was already started and he ultrad) – was that possible in vanilla?
